The fyw logo on the inside ankle was there in the og release, but it was debossed instead of embroidered. The Torsion system was purple on the og, but it looked almost blue. I remember on the first retros liking that they changed it to a more purple color. I remember having fond memories of Kobe wearing this shoe, i wish they kept the original pu insole... I remember watching this documentary called "between the madness" about the Fresno State Bulldogs. Most of the players wore the KB 8's, they just looked so nice in that white with red stripes team color.
One of the only non Nike and/or Jordan Brand athletic shoes I would purchase. I had a pair of the originals and they were one of the most comfortable shoes I ever wore back then.
Such a nostalgic shoe! And I agree, should have definitely kept the 8! Already bought a pair and waiting for the gray! They need to release more colors and hurry with up with bringing back the Crazy 2s in black and in white!

My next door neighbor had a pair of these back in the day that he used to wear casually because he was playing soccer, so they weren't a good fit for that and they lasted him quite a bit of time. Then he passed them on to his dad, who also wore them for a good 4-5 years. All in all they were built to last since they were worn for 8 years or so without much wear and tear. I always liked this model and the orange ones they're releasing are looking great!
My pair actually just arrived today! And when I opened the box I was surprised at how the upper looked. I didn’t really care for that ashy gray look. Actually looks like real elephant skin. And then I tried mine and yes my toe was crammed right up to the front. I feel like it’s because of that crazy thick ankle and heel padding. I found that if I forced my heel all the way to the back of the shoe compressing that foam , that I do get normal toe spacing at the front like all of my other size 11s. I’m not sure if that’s some thing that’ll break in with time , i’m thinking maybe not for me since I wear my shoes loosely casually. Unfortunately I think I’ll be returning these. Maybe I’ll try for the original white and black color way or the All-Star color way if they release them
Just picked these up today. My buddy and I used to call these the “Loco Ochos” being from SoCal 😂. When I picked them up in store I was blown away by the materials. So nice. I almost don’t want to play in them- but I will be.

Its in the mail, so don't know how they will fit, But better than my normal size for sure! Champs had them off their website for Kobes birthday and barely came back on the site today. Kinda weird. But these were a must for me. They look great!
I wore nothing but these back then, for years, up until i couldn't find them in sporting goods outlets. These were definitely a upgrade. The OGs barely had any padding until the all-star pair were released. Still my favorite shoe to this day.

One of my favourite designs. I had the blue crazy 8s but I wish I’d picked up an OG colorway like this instead. I don’t mind the feet you wear guy on the tongue but I’d forgotten that they took off the 8.
Dude, great coverage. Don’t know if I’ll grab a pair, but I like that these have more of a flat surface area on the forefoot and heel even thought it’s FYW. The Top Ten 2000 is jarring to wear because of it, and take some getting used to. Materials on here look great!
The best part of seeing this video was being able to purchase these today on my way home from work, and being able to go through the finer details while watching. I’m also glad that I held off purchasing them last week at JD Sports for $160, since I found them at Dick’s for $140.

I was a junior in high school when the originals came out. I wanted this color way but couldn’t get in my size, & got the white ones. 1 of my favorite shoes to play in, found them super comfortable. I agree with Chris, dirt would cling to them so had to constantly wipe them off.
This shoe is special in that Jamal Crawford wore those shoes (white with blue colorway) in the 1998 Washington State boys basketball. His HS team (Rainier Beach HS) won the state title that year.

So I'm a 12 in Jordan's and I tired a 12 on in these in store and was way too tight. The 13 fit good on top of the foot and toe space but a half inch or so of room in the back. Guessing a 12.5 would be best ?
Ive liked these since i saw this review months ago. I was at my local Ross today and these pairs are floating around there. Was able to cop a pair in my size for $45, cant really beat that in todays economy esp cause the materials are so nice on em
Got my pair yesterday .. the off white / cream / toast .. love em .. I’m a true 11.5 .. and these fit perfect .. have em pairing up with my baggy swoosh sweats from the 80s / 90s .. killer old school in da house - 😊
Most don’t know how much an all around shoe this is. Probably top 5 for me in performance. Indoor or outdoor. So stable. Traction is fire. Cushion is nice and comfy. Not the bounciest but super stable. Wide base. Never sprained my ankle in these. Just all around great. 9/10. Only bad is maybe ventilation.
I went to highschool with a kid that had the most recent retro then. Around a decade ago I'm pretty sure was the last time I seen these shoes so they had to come out that year or a few before cuz I doubt a teen in the early 2010s was getting a legit 90s pair
The Feet You Wear logo replacing the embroidered 8 on the toe could be a way of appeasing Kobe fanatics. I have read my share of social media comments who accused Adidas of making money off of a dead man's reputation. When the Adidas Crazy 97 came out (in Laker colorway/dunk contest edition), many of those Kobe fanatics were ruthless.

I agree, I found a pair at Ross today (6/9/24) for $49.99, in my true size 9. I am a TTS 9 in most shoes (but performance shoes like Kobe 4's and 8's, I wear 9.5 ). The padding in the ankle of these Crazy 8's is very plush, so my toe was up against the toebox. Unlike the Adidas Kobe 1 and Harden 8, I have a 9.5 in both pairs and I have some deadspace. Chris is right, Adidas is definitely not consistent in their size fit. In my opinion, I'd try to find a 9.5 to fit like a 9 and a size 10 to fit like a 9.5. Hope this helps!
I agree with Chris about the fit of this shoe. The toe box is very tight and while the part of the shoe that encapsulates the foot is very wide and the material is too tough to pull tighter around the foot. I had the OG from 1997-98 and those feel like totally different shoe altogether. I bought them online and was too lazy to send it back. I went to a homeless shelter and just give to a random hobo. I loved the OG version of the shoe but will not buy any Adidas ever again.
The oG blue were cold man. Very comfortable on and off the court. That sole is amazing. Those and D Wades really low solid black with the orange slits. Yeah I was lucky to get a pair in orange. They're usually red.

The kb8 was also released in team colors... This colorway was released again with everything that's purple and gold has been changed to black and white... I don't know why but for the team colorways Adidas was really inconsistent about keeping the 8 on the tongue. I remember watching that documentary about the Fresno bulldogs that Chris Herren was in and you can tell that some of theit shoes had the 8 and some didn't. Even now, if you're able to find the team colorways on eBay, they do or don't have the 8. I personally think they look great without an 8 on the tongue. The only colorway that looks great with the 8, is the all star/playoff colorway since it was the only one that was colored in purple and gold
You’re spot on with the size. I ordered my true size as I usually do. I do need to go up half a size. did you have the same issue with kobe protro V bruce Lee? I ordered my True size and I need to go up .5 a size on that too.
The black version is definitely a bit small on the big toe. But I'm not sure if it's due to the stiffness of a new shoe & the material used. The white version seems to be a better fit. Again, different materials are used on that colourway.
I just bought a pair of these a few days ago from Hibbitts. Mine pair fit me true to size and there comfortable. I can't wait to get the other colorways also.

I have a og pair on now and im going to tell you in my opinion presentation wise the OGs look 💯 times better . Colorway on the OGs is also darker i believe due to the smoothness of the nubuck material however if you weren't able to cop a OG pair this will do 🖤🙏🏾💯 .

Found them at a Champs today and tried them on. Went a full size up and my toes were still jammed at the front, but the rest of the shoe fit soooo wide. The fit is just so bad :(

The rounded laces of this shoe (just like the Jordan 10) are my favorite functional part of this shoe. One tug and the shoe is tight.

They were. 90s shoes always had that in mind while designing shoes. Back then, nobody had access to gyms etc. Something so raw about hooping outdoors.

I have a og pair on now and im going to tell you in my opinion presentation wise the OGs look 💯 times better . Colorway on the OGs is also darker i believe due to the smoothness of the nubuck material however if you weren't able to cop a OG pair this will do 🖤🙏🏾💯 .

woah, wait you're telling me these.... the classic bulky shoe(IMO) is now perhaps a full size up!? That's crazy. I was thinking about getting a pair of these and am still tempted to. They look great and it's great to hear that the materials are great on them. I remember when they did a release in like... 2013 or 2014, that they made them super light, but the materials were skimped out big time, padding around the ankle was less, all that jazz, as I'm sure you remember. I'm still just shocked about the sizing part. I'm going to have to go try a pair on in stores.

Found them at a Champs today and tried them on. Went a full size up and my toes were still jammed at the front, but the rest of the shoe fit soooo wide. The fit is just so bad :(
