By far one of the best if not the best voice I've heard on this channel. The quality of the voice and the phrasing. Just that little something that separates her from the rest. Record producers, get your contracts ready.
And covered by just about everybody !. But I believe it is The Flamingos version that I am acquainted with. And as much as love PMJ. I will have to stick with that one. Not there is anything wrong with this one mind you. Just my personal preference.
A magical performance with such beautifully understated yet perfect accompaniment---best, most romantic cover ever of this classic, thankyou Sunny and Scott!
So I was actually right in now-deleted comment where I said it was a retro cover of a modern remake of a big band classic. And here's a link to the Dames version... ua-cam.com/video/P76cUtCGRQs/v-deo.html
@@postmodernjukebox The Flamingo's version is my favorite, then again that is one of my favorite songs. That version paints an image of being on some high place at night and watching the distant lights of a city. "Mio Amore" by the Flamingos is also haunting.
Hey Scott love what y'all are doing, y'all have been such a beacon of joy for me in trying times. On the 23d of April this year ( which would've been the 22nd in the US) my father passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack and I've been through highs and lows since then, but one thing I can always count on to bring me peace and joy most day's is pmj and for that I am truly thankful. So keep doing what you're doing Scott, you're a saint . And a big thanks to your whole cast of unique characters, love y'all!!!!

Beautifully done!!! This song is one of my favorites, and the way its covered here is a pure joy to the ears. Sunny's voice so sweet, giving the song a nearly haunting, beautiful element of class, crisp clarity, & wonder. And Scott Bradlee.... Wow! His piano playing is truly special. He plays the song perfectly, giving much of the attention to Sunny, though anyone who knows music knows Scott merely gave us a modest sampling of his true ability on those keys. Bravo!
In the middle of my workday, I had to stop and listen to her. Really listen to her singing, the words, and let me imagine for a moment I'm in a nightclub with my girl, and we're holding hands while she's singing against Scott's nicely modulated playing (the rumbling keys at the end I esp. enjoyed). Thank you. Now, back to work!
So happy I was recommended this channel it’s fantastic. I thank you for the talent and redoing these songs with this type of musical sound that brings me back.
You are an amazing player Scott....I could listen to you all day.....Sunny you sang that beautifully...I just went into another zone completely......Amazing music.....Sams wife
This is magical. The singing is fabulous. The pianist is incredible... I often marvel at how beyond the mark the Postmodern Jukebox musicians are, this pianist made this song perfection. Well done. As always.
Not sure which I like better-these PMJ songs that stay true to the original or the jazzy twists on rock classics. Both are great in their own ways. This was lovely.
Awwww thank you Michael! Funny enough I was mostly trained in classical but my heart has always been in Jazz and I would beg to sing these songs when I was much younger. It wasn't;t until spending time with Scott that I fully realized I am allowed to sing only the music that I absolutely love
@@postmodernjukebox I KNEW IT!!!!!!! Nobody believes me when I tell them that. I've heard most of the newer songs only in their PMJ arrangements. In the grocery store the other day, I heard a song that sounded vaguely familiar, and realized it was 'Maps' by Maroon 5. It was awful. Thank you so much for making a version that was approximately 5,293 times better than theirs.
@@MrSprigg omg, I feel the same exact way about the same exact song. I heard "Maps" first by PMJ before I heard the original. I agree, PMJs version is 10000000X better
Works. Will always love the Jamie Cullum version above the rest, but a nice mid-evening dinner performance to set the mood while the next course is finishing and the conversation is waning.
I really have to stop falling in love with PMJ’s singers.
Haha! I'm a married woman but I'm in love with this whole romantic scene. It's such an escape and a pleasure to hear
😊
Let’s not forget to give props to Scott for the arrangements and playing.
😁😁😁
I know what you mean man.
This lady is gorgeous.
Dr.Hook - When you are in love with a beautiful woman
An hour of her singings songs like this, a glass whiskey, ... That would be an ideal evening. So enchanting, calming, wonderfull!
I usually listen to this channel when I play pool, having a whiskey in my bar or just relaxing in my chesterfield couch.
juscurious Bushmills 10 years old
I'm a whiskey lover myself and had to have some neat after recording this in celebration :)
We all want a noir life from time to time. Reminds that even in sadness there's beauty to be found, no matter how gloomy heh
I need a slow dance and some whisky kisses to go with this
I love this version, so classy, so romantic, so nostalgic
Yeah great singing and piano playing! Also, none of that annoying "she bop she bop" background stuff.
She is wonderful, and the pianist is marvelous.
Unusual to hear a PMJ cover that maintains the original style. Extremely well done.
Beautiful song, beautiful voice.
So much to love about this song, the vocalist and Scott's piano skills. Beautiful all around.

Another great group is Australia’s group. HSCC!! I met my future love of my life because of them
She's a balming for the soul
feel better!
Proof that sometimes you don't need the whole band. Perfect balance, and a beautiful arraignment performed beautifully. Thank you for this.
Piano accompaniment is hypnotising in its own right.
Sunny's voice, Sunny's interpretation + the virtuoso (Scott) at the piano = extraordinary
She's terrific!
Best. Cover. Ever....she nailed it. One of my favorite songs done total justice.
so dreamy...fantastic accompaniment... love those twinkling stars on the keyboard
Beautiful. Clean, classically delivered. No screwing around with Vocal calisthetics and screeching like you often find. Well done.
Wow she is beautiful, and that dress wow. Her voice is amazing!
That dress is gorgeous!! 😍
She's a great singer. Her voice is so lovely and clear
She killed that and looked like a painting the entire time, woah
That is far too sweet fo you, thank you so much!

Makes me realize how much I miss live performance atm, I bet Sunny is fantastic iive, she certainly nailed this.
you're too sweet, can't wait until we perform live again! We are actually doing a virtual event March 20th
Dick Powell originally sang this in 1934 in "Dames" and this definitely has the soul and spirit of the original 💖💖
Thank you PMJ for some sunshine during dark times!❤
Happy it brought you some light :)
The arrangement actually sounds decade appropriate since the song is actually first recorded in 1934

my grandpa used to sing this song to me back in the 50s. he said it was in the first movie he ever saw. "Dames" .
My father called it “The Broken Typewriter Song.”
Do you mind if I ask why?
She's wearing a magnolia flower like Billie Holliday did. Setting a great mood...
Ahhhh so happy you caught that reference :)
She wore a Gardenia

Love what you're doing with your instrument, but the extra effort you put into your packaging takes it to another level. 💋

Sometimes all the finish to a classy evening requires is a gentle piano in the background and a chanteuse in a fabulous frock. Nothing more.
Que interpretación tan maravillosa, romántica y nostálgica y la belleza de esta preciosidad de mujer!!
Omg!!! FREAKING BRAVO. ALL OF IT. Nice little stride numbers. She was lovely in every way and IT WAS VISUALLY GORGEOUS.
This is the most beautiful version of this song I’ve ever heard
Absolutely amazing! The Flamingo's version was the first dance my wife and I danced to at our wedding. I love this version!
I will not tire of saying it, you are a complete audio-visual feast and a necessary food for the heart and soul. CONGRATULATIONS from Durango, México
A beautiful rendition, by a very lovely woman. She has an amazing voice. Bravo!
Great singing, piano playing... and I do like how she holds the mc stand.
If Sunny Holiday were singing this song directly to me, I think I would be in heaven.
So UNDERRATED actually in industry af 💔😢 deserves more recognition Worldwide!
This might be my favorite version of this song ever!
Nice rendition of this song from the movie Dames from 1934 its a masterpiece everyone has to see it!
Everyone always says its a 50s tune because of the Flamingos recording but its a much older classic :) We were happy to celebrate it!
