Show us the entire ceremony along with a 1st degree initiation. The other day I met a person running for local office. He admitted when asked that he is a Freemason. The man was shocked that I knew so much about Masonic literature. When asked to perform the Masonic handshake he became visibly uncomfortable and said no, even though I already knew the handshake. If a man running for legislator is scared to disclose something as benign as a handshake, why should we trust him to disclose secret criminal activity inside of government?
*_I WAS THROWN OUT OF A CITY COUNCIL MEETING FOR SAYING THAT MASONS USE BOY BRIDES IN 33RD DEGREE INITIATION CEREMONIES._*
He wasn't scared.
As you've just pointed out, you know the secret handshake as I'm sure you just googled it. The fact that you can google it is proof that it's not that the Freemasons have anything to hide. The reason he was "uncomfortable" is because of his vow to not disclose any of the secrets himself. Those vows to not disclose the secrets of Freemasonry represent a Mason's integrity as a man.
They care not that you know parts of the ritual or that you know the handshake, they just care that they're not the ones disclosing them. That's all it is. It's a Fraternity of blokes just having a laugh and learning a bit of philosophy along the way. There really is nothing nefarious. Quite the contrary actually when you look at how much money the Freemasons donate to charity and how much of the charity work they put in themselves. Take for example, the Shriners Hospitals for Children in America. Patients don't by a dime.
Your distrust is misplaced and from the sounds of it, you actually have an interest. Why not petition to join a lodge and see for yourself what it's about?
God Bless :)
What's the handshake then?
Those were rites, not "rights."
