John Wayne had a great sense of how to play grizzled men with one last fight to give, no matter the odds, in his late career. Some of his best performances came from this era. This is one of his more underrated films, so thanks for the highlight of it, Warner Classics!
thought this was one of his best. But then again I was very partial to about the last 10 years of his career. Is he got older he was a hell of a lot meaner and tougher. Of all the quoted lines we read about, "you'd even shoot a dead man" . . . . "No and I ain't goinna let him shoot me neither, now get up"
Dear 75... But at least it had only 6 bullets in it. Usually they all could shoot at least 10 times (without reloading) and even more with rifles. 😁 ;-) Best regards, luck and health in particular.

You never see this movie getting played anymore. The Duke didn't like this movie. Still a good movie.
