I was several times back in the USSR. You are absolutely right about the food. But what is make Republic of Georgia unique place it is Georgian people.
Yes, you are absolutely right, Anna. I'll be making a video about things to see and do in Georgia soon and I'll certainly mention the wonderful people! Thanks for your comment.
Actually every region of Georgia is famous with it's own dishes, and believe me all of them are delicious. Next time try western Georgia, grits, walnut stuff vegies, kharcho (walnut paste beef or chicken stew) with grits, cheesy grits (elarji), megrelian khachapuri, and other. Try bean and meet things. You will love it.
I'll be moving to Georgia later this year and am so excited! The food, the people, the landscapes, the culture, all look so inviting. I've been watching as many videos and doing as much research as I can before I go! ❤️
@@ContinentalDrifter actually, it is very convinient to live in Georgia and get American pension. everything is very cheap here compared to the US but not for locals because it is very hard to earn money here in Georgia :(
We’ve been there last January, i love the country, the wines, khachapuri w/ egg and khinkali and painted jewelries. Planning to go back next year spring. I love you Iona.
Wow, that's fantastic, Leah. Yes, the food in Georgia is simply out of this world. I'm looking forward to putting out more videos on your lovely country, so please stay tuned for those!
By no means Georgian food is one of the best things one can experience. Unfortunately we in Norway have no Georgian restaurant. I suggest to try Chaqapuli one of my favs. 😊😋
This region has so much to offer it's incredible, and Georgia is a foodie's paradise. It's probably obvious but I make a point of incorporating the unique foods in all the places I travel to.
My family is partily from Georgia, even though I grew up in Germany. When I was younger me and my siblings called Khachapuri adjaruli always Eierschiffchen (egg boat) it's my favourite food

As someone who lives in Atlanta, I thought you might be talking about southern US food, yet was pleasantly surprised to learn about the Republic of Georgia. And the bread! Delicious.
I sadly had a trip to Georgia and Armenia cancelled last year due to the pandemic. I’m still trying to arrange a trip there because the food looks so amazing!

I'm sorry, but I don't have the name as it was all in Georgian. I do have a very blurry photo I took of the place from a fast-moving car, but I'm not sure you could even read it.
Oh, the food! And so much gluten, I could cry as a Celiac. But now I'm going to go toast my gluten-free bagel with lox. Nowhere close to all this deliciousness!!!
Thanks for your comment King's Music, although I've done some research and I'm finding it is indeed called a tonir, and my local guides told me the same. Perhaps there are different names for it, I don't know, but thanks for taking the time to comment, I do appreciate it.
Under the Constitution of Georgia, out country's name is Georgia, not republic of Georgia :) as to the food, my absolute favourite food when I was not a vegetarian, was CHAKAPULI, it has the most unique dish, you should try it. This is the king of all dishes. I also wanted to say that the oven where the puri is baked is called tone (თონე) not tonir.
OK, this is very good to know, I wasn't aware of this, so thanks for the correction. I'm not sure I've tried chakapuli, but I'll look for it next time, for sure.
Great video, I randomly found you as I was searching for new Videos about Georgia...There are also vegetarian versions of khinkali but I always go for the ones with meat...What I miss most about Georgia is the bread though...any other cravings can be satisfied by Georgian restaurants abroad. Btw. I'm Anna and I make Videos about the Georgian Language and Culture. We'd be happy if you stop by! (-: (liked your video)

Haha, that was something I thought about, to be sure, and so it's why I put the Georgian flag on the thumbnail, but thanks for watching!
We (Georgians) eat a lot of cornbread, beans, grits, cheesy grits--so a little bit close to US Georgia :-)
Yes, very good to know!
Yumm! Yumm! Would love to take a trip with you to taste this food.
You know you're welcome anytime, my friend!
Never been there, but the food looks great.
Oh yes, it’s out of this world!

Thank you so much!
Can't believe what you can get for a dollar. Everything looks tasty.
Yes, everything is fresh and incredibly delicious, and very reasonably priced, so it's doubly good!
Okay, the Khachapuri Adjaruli! OMG!! All the things I'm not really supposed to be eating...definitely will make an exception when I head overseas.
Yes, the KA has all the best food groups, but too much and it's not the best for you. You'll definitely have to make an exception when you go.
I am from Georgia🇬🇪❤

@@ContinentalDrifter Yes there are different names, Tonir is Armenian, Tone is Georgian, Tendir is Azerbaijan. BTW Great video
@@ContinentalDrifter Georgians call it "Tone" (e is pronounced as in "red") / "თონე". Hence "Tonis Puri" (Bread from Tone)

I never accomplished to finish an Acharuli Khatchapuri, even if my belly wasn´t full of Khinkali :))
