  • Today we've been building a 2v geodesic dome using the Unlink brackets, this is just a small one but you could be bigger by using longer struts.
    I used the geo-dome 2v calculation tool: geo-dome.co.uk/2v_tool.asp
for the strut lengths, I didn't allow anything for the brackets just cut the struts to length, so it will be a little bigger.

Great idea and very functional. We're setting up 2V and 3V domes at our project on the Pacific Coast. I like the point that domes can be scaled by using longer struts.

You gave me an ideal, you probably already thought of it because of your title, and the little things you are building in the garden. Your ideal(unilink), combined with your title of this video gave me the ideal of color coding the As and Bs, etc... struts and have the Unilinks already attached, for children to build little play houses and things, what ever their imagination can do with it. Just little kits, not something bigger than the house or anything, but big enough for a couple or so children to cram into. lol They can learn what colors build what, what combinations do what, etc...and include a little book for them to see some examples of what colors do what. It would be a great gift for children, kinda like a timeless gift because they can later use what they learned and expand on learning more into the geometry. They can later use your unilinks to build their houses maybe, out buildings, etc.... Just figure out how to make the unilink connect with a hub, or with the other unilinks without needing nuts and bolts for the remote connection, instead clip, or hinge together, that way even smaller children can get involved.
But i understand why it would be no easy to try to go into manufacturing a toy, because there is so much more liability, and so it takes more start up money to have all the engineers go thru and make sure the end product is safe for children before you produce anything. But as a kid, i would be saying "Ahh why don't they have this toy?" lol This is introduction to the liberal arts, so maybe if you market it right, like making sure the words "liberal arts" and "children" go hand n hand in the reasons you might find overwhelming investors.

Great, realy great. A little bit late, my dome is ready, but the next project is coming soon. Thank you for the video

Great job! I would eventually build a 2v geodesic dome. I’m currently in the process of building a 1v dome but I also love how the 2v dome looks.

Beautiful work and great view of the whole process.
I would be interested in getting brackets as well.

Fantastic! How can anyone watch this and not give it a BIG THUMBS UP?

Looks nice and useful the brackets functionality at structural level versatility maybe too many nails to me and it's cost effective 260 brackets to and v2 dome? Any more compliment data test on resistant weigh pls? Thanks for share and inspiration. Keep up in the good work

To make the struts stronger where the screw is going in to the end grain you could try rienforceing it with a wire binding made useing a clamptite tool. Though be carefull which way the cut ends of wire are faceing so as not to rip any future covering.

So, what do think is the largest size of dome you can build using these Unlink brackets?

I want to stand on top of my dome and pose dramatically also!
Big box of WangerFlanges, minor request.
How about 260 instead of 250.
Why? Every Flange you need to make a 2V dome, that's why.
