My favorite part of the day is here. Trapper J posted another banger. 🔥 Season opens on the 10th here in IL got a bunch of properties lined up. Should be a good season.
That's how the weather is where I am east coast. Usually it's dry then bam nov 1 it starts raining just about every day lol. This year it hasn't rained in over a month, plus it's warm, and I'm not trapping. No point in going after red fox, esp since I have about 100 of them, from raw frozen hides to tanned for both taxidermy and garment. I bet if I started trapping fox on nov 1, it would have rained nov 2 and still be raining today lol. Why I like hay sets so much.
J demonstrates it in some other vids. Basically the trap is attached to the rod and can slide one way but not the other so once the animal is trapped any movement it makes into the deeper water it can't get back up until its fully submerged and drowns. Called a drowning rod. :)
So let me get this right just the weight of the trap is heavy enough to hold a 40 lbs beaver under water? If so I take it that beavers are very weak animals then. Do I got that right?
@ no… the bar is pushed out into deeper water. Trap is connected by a piece of metal that can only move down the rod into the deeper water. The beaver can go down but not up once trapped until it it goes to the bottom on the rod in the deeper water and then drowns. Same idea as how a zip tie can only go one way. Just google ‘drowning rod’.
Anyone who has any or as much enthusiasm as you, really makes for an entertaining video. Fantastic work again "J!".. good luck this year buddy!

You've done a great job on that pond mate. Well done 😎
That’s great footage of the beaver getting caught J and I feel for you having to deal with the mud so early in the season !

Awesome catch considering the conditions you have. Thanks for sharing
put the clams in your water filters next time. They are filter feeders and will help clean the water, when big you can eat them!

I’m from Philadelphia. We haven’t had rain since September.
Great video trapper j
Great beginning awesome 😂😂❤
Haven't had rain in over 2 months in my area of PA
Great videos as always, You gettin on Flairs ranch again this year?
So im new to this stuff. What kills the beaver when its only caught in the leg? How does it die? Drowned?
Yep

Good video brother!
There’s a family there 😂😂😂❤❤
Great job good video
Do you think clams would make it in your pond? That was pretty cool to see on that beaver.
Awesome, muddy mess, sometimes you just have to embrace the suck lol
Good stuff
Nice beaver great work
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You should have put the clams in the pond!
Awesome
They make card readers now you can connect to your phone
Fresh water muscles
That's what happens when you use the best bait on the market. You catch.
Great video
I was expecting to see crabs for some reason 😅
Muscles!
So question from a complete rookie, was that foothold you used on the drowning set dyed before the season? It looked like bare metal
👍🏻😎🇺🇸
What do u do with the raccoon fur?
I think there call muscles
👍😃✌️💪🇺🇸
What kinda rods are u using.
Hagz drowners
They will be demonetizing if you keep hurting the beavers like that! lol
Will you ever do a video of how you skin and process the animals that you have caught or would that be too gruesome for some viewers?
Double check those are probably zebra muscle!!
Ya that’s what I figured lol
Should of put those clams in ur pond
👍🫡👍
Be careful with those mussels, you have some endangered species in your area, you know how the tree jumpers respond to disturbing stuff lol
Yessir!!!
