I have recently jumped down the Canadian AR18 design rabbit hole and seen the Crusader, Sterling Arms R18 Mk3, and now this. And I'm absolutely fascinated by what you have been manufacturing because some of these designs fix complaints I have with the BRN180. If you could link any videos about Canadian AR18 rifles or list any AR18 rifles for me to look into, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't care if they are good or bad, high dollar low dollar. I'm just incredibly interested in the designs.
You could check out The Hunting Gear Guy on UA-cam (he also has a website). He's a fellow Canadian UA-camr who has reviewed some 180s. You can also check out r/CanadaGuns on reddit to see what owners say about them. This is a list of all the Canadian 180s: Sterling R18, WK-180, WK-181, WS MCR, SBI Lynx (upper lower only), BCL SRV2, Jard J180, True North Arms (aftermarket upper and lower), and Crusader Arms Templar (Cru Arms Temp as its sold in the US). (Note: the Raven is NOT an AR-180, it is technically/legally a unique design but is more or less modified AR-15) All of our rifles designs are not inherently bad, in fact some of the are actually quite good. But Canadian manufacturers have poor QC and manufacturing compared to the US, so the products are no where near as good as the BRN is. IRunGuns is working with PSA to bring a BRN-180 upper that fits on our AR-180 lowers. That may be the best rifle we can get until we get ARs back.

Im a supporter of the Conservatives. However i strongly believe the best well get under a Majority will be a full undo of what Turdeau did. Things will go back to the way they were pre 2020. Which will still make the 180s redundant with the resurrection of AR alternative reciever sets.
My WK-180 GEN2 lasted over 2000 rounds. I had alot of fun with that gun. Ended up selling it so that I could get the raven. Miss having a folding stock. But I'm an AR15 guy all the way
I did have a piston break in my WK 180C gen 2 around 700-800 rounds. Fairness to WK, no questions asked, they had a new piston in my hands inside a week. Best warranty/service request I've had not just with any gun company ever, but any company anywhere ever. Quick and painless, didn't have to talk to someone with broken English on the other half of the world at 3 am and no hassle or headaches on my part. In fairness to us customers, that shit shouldn't be breaking. Issues aside, it's actually a pretty amazing gun (very accurate and feeds well).
Personal experience only but woth mentioning I think. I had a Gen 2 WK 180c it would break the gas piston within 200 rounds, went through 3 in 5 months. I even tried the adjustable gas port from TNA and that thing flew out of the gun after 50 rounds never to be seen again. Sold both of them, got a BCL siberian and so far its lasted 400 rounds. Not really a seal of approval as the manual says to clean every 1500, so once it get there or 3k I think that will be better. Able to shoot it more now that I got my range to let me use it for action shooting to prep for 3 gun stuff. As for Canadian AR180s you hit the nail on the head, bad qc and bad innovation. Just make a AR180 to spec as it was made in the 60s and there wouldn't be these issues. Making slim handguards to fit AR15 stuff, running carbine gas systems on 18 inch rifles, using heavy match barrels and other dumb oddities just make all Canadian ARs I have seen or tried just inspire no confidence.

I can't confirm this but I have read that part of the problem on the MCR and 180 series is they are severely overgassed through an oversized gas port which put more stress on the pistons.
The carbine length has system in the wk180 is an issue too, there’s way too much dwell time with the 18 inch barrel. There even accounts of the NR converted Brens that have the super short gas system blowing off the gas blocks. The long dwell time keeps the pressure in the gas system longer.
I have a WK180C. Nothing has broken. Approximately 1k rounds down the pipe. Have had a some misfeeds when using the cross mags. Overall, I guess I "won" the lottery. I hope the Tories do away with restricted and non restricted. I also hope suppressors become legal. It really makes no sense why I can be out in the woods with a 300 win mag BUT not be allowed to carry a 10mm or 9mm etc hand gun?
I hadn't even considered the idea of getting "Named" rifles off of the banned list. itd be so cool to get an AUG, AK, All the old Sigs, the list is endless. Imagine even getting an AR15 on to the non restricted list with an appropriate barrel length. Imagine doing a hunt with an Ar-10 and not have to spend +3500 on a semi 308. If we get another liberal government its paramount to keep redesigning these and make them run semi reliably. The cheapest .223 has to be the SU16 but with a polymer rail is a big no go. past that you have to spend + 2k for anything that will run well and most of the times its not a Canadian made rifle
I personally believe we will get AR’s back after the next election. I wonder what that will do to these 180b companies, because the rifles they’ve produced are not quality. But it’s all moot until that happens. Enjoyed the video

I liked my lynx lower, but wasn’t happy with the upper. There’s no slot for the rear pin, they said it’s not needed. Without it the upper rattles around like crazy, the fix? Was told use a rubber o ring
I've been looking at the semi auto intermediate cartridge market, and it really does stink as a recent PAL owner. On one hand, I think it would be cool to advance Canadian manufacturing, but I'm finding it hard to drop a minimum 1400 bucks (before tax) on something that might break in one day. The sterling arms looks very nice, and honestly would be a buy once cry once for me if I had to make the choice. Just can't seem to find one, and the Ravens seem almost as expensive yet still have some issues. Rather pay an extra 10% and not worry, you know. It's a rough spot for sure, but I have close to zero faith the conservatives will do anything of note, to be frank. They are spineless, gutless and anything to do with firearms will be at the back of their list.
I have to wonder too, just how much of the hate these guns are getting, in particular the Kodiaks, is just people on r/canadaguns or elsewhere who have never shot one but they hear they're bad so they think "yeah they're bad." I know though a lot of this is also just pure copium in a country where we can't have nice things, at least for the time being. Here's hoping that the polls are accurate, and the conservatives actually do what they're saying they'll do. Yeah it'll mean half your videos become pretty badly dated if not completely superfluous, but still, here's hoping. Excellent video though. As I've said before I highly appreciate your new audio. well it's like what Bats here says, it's the roulette. Some guys get a gun that is assembled well and runs for thousands of rounds with no issues and then someone else gets a gun that shits itself to death in under 200 rounds. People want to buy with confidence.
That's a good point, and I think a lot people do talk bad without ever using one. However, I think the majority have. Since the 180s are by far the most popular semi-autos (besides SKS) after the ban, I think most people have direct or second hand experience with one. I would happily have my videos lose their original meaning to get access to way more guns. Then that just means more reviews!
@@DarkCatfish I completely agree. Winners saying “meh, it’s fine I guess.” are naturally not going to be heard as well as the users who get lemons. The psychology is interesting. I have to wonder too how much of the QC issues can also go back to the raw materials. Poorly made steel and aluminum with no QC from China is going to result in poorly made guns regardless of QC here. One of the consequences of crippling our own metalworks perhaps.

That's why the aftermarket adjustment gas blocks are popular. But it can still result in snapped pistons due to the lack of a cup.
