So ppl were furious and Oprah confronted the writer about the book because she put the book in her book club. So she and others felt lied to. Honestly I don’t think today the book would have gotten the backlash it got back them. I think it was a purer time when ppl believed that when a story says “based on a true story” they wanted things to be 100 accurate.
