Simply stated... That's impressive. I know it's quicker by hand and more fun then watching the machine do the work, but the pleasure of being able to say "I built that machine would be best of all. Great job!!!
alright i got my model i'm so exited to try out my new lego printer! now i'm gonna use it to make this sick complex thing with like 800 pieces! three days later sweet it's done it looks amazing! lol AMAZING robot! that's crazy stuff!
@McShelldon I don't think you're entirely right...It doesn't look like stop motion, the printer must have screwed up at that point and the footage had to be cut.
Wow that is very cool. I think it uses leJOS correct? Any chance of you posting a few details how how the programs work over on the leJOS forum? Thanks Andy
Well, if the printers were programed at assembly to print more printers, then they could theoretically replicate indefinitely, making them the first technical examples of a mechanical life form.
There are maybe 100 or more videos of 3d printers. ON every one of them is a guy asking can it print another print. 3d printers can print many of the parts of another 3d printer, they can't however, print an entire 3d printer because it has many electrical components that are not made of plastic.
@gloomyandy hehe if you think that's cool you should look at the real makerbots at makerbot.com where ppl are using them to print up replacement parts for their dishwasher :)
The most advanced 3d printers CAN print metals and alloys, therefore in theory, with a big enough printer, you could print another one, though it would be pointless, apart from proving the concept.
A BZPower admin linked to this video in a news report, breaking their own rule of not linking to UA-cam. O_o Anyways, this is awesome. I should dig out my Mindstorms stuff again...
its remind me to the replicators from stargate. they looked kinda like lego and they reproduced themselfe too. in one year lego will have taken over the world^^
Simply stated... That's impressive.

Great job!!!
That is the coolest lego mindstorms set I've ever seen!
very nice! the good thing is that you will never have to worry about warps, bed levelling and bed bad adesion no more
This is great! Are you planning on any enhancements such as making use of different shaped and coloured blocks? That would be so cool :)
"Yo dawg, I heard you like playing with Lego so, we made a machine made of lego that plays with lego."
One thing: you will not enjoy doing yourself lego anymore. The robot will do it for you.
Awesome job !!

Nice! I had an idea like this a few days ago, but I was sure someone had make a Lego brick builder already
There seems to be a brick holder on the right. It seems like it takes a brick everytime the moving part thing turns 90 degrees counterclockwise
@McShelldon I don't think you're entirely right...It doesn't look like stop motion, the printer must have screwed up at that point and the footage had to be cut.
the coolest thing about this bot is that it is build out of lego pieces :D
@MediaCheese But it's nice that the robot can build it ...
Wow that is very cool. I think it uses leJOS correct? Any chance of you posting a few details how how the programs work over on the leJOS forum?
Thanks
Andy
This is a 3D printer of a sorts. It is capable of building simple LEGO models similar to how a more conventional 3D printer creates objects.
Wow that is freaking amazing!! I love it.
i like the little blue lego piece just sitting there and sayng "someday"
Well I like the idea of a 3D Lego printer. That's kinda cool.
But did it have to be made of Legos itself...?
I would like to see it in real time (some bricks would be enough) so we can see how bricks are placed etc
@spearstrike211 Looks like there is a brick dispenser on the right side of the machine.
@willgorman Thank you very much. Now we can see a little better how it works.
Well, if the printers were programed at assembly to print more printers, then they could theoretically replicate indefinitely, making them the first technical examples of a mechanical life form.
pretty damn awesome. how did u get the cad to work with the nxt?
shit, people have so many great ideas! How many sets did you use? I'm going to buy Lego Mindstorms!
What. The. Hell. That was awesome! Nice job!
Very Nice Job!!
What software are you using?
I know this just places bricks and doesn't model, but somehow I'm more impressed by this. Maybe its the fact that its more practical.
thats great man!
awesome!! thanks for sharing, and for the instructions!!!!!!
Wow. I can only say wow.Really crazy!
My atmost respect voor this build mate!!!! briljant!
****** awesome video i cant belive how somebody can make it
Instructions?
Omg. I LOVE YOU
AWESOME! And that must'v tooken a LOOOOOG time to make. =P
@blazemanfoshizzle the guy made the machine out of legos (or did a machine make that to lol)
@exponentialfunc yes, but required to to procress everything
There are maybe 100 or more videos of 3d printers. ON every one of them is a guy asking can it print another print.

Wow. That is impressive!
@berber1899 if you mean nxt bricks like the nxt computer, the it only has 2
omg this is so cool great vid! subbed
Awesome! Though I kinda am over legos... For around 6 years...
Could you modify it to fire plastics from hot-glue gun, instead of stacking lego bricks?
So that it looks more like a real 3D printer.
wow, amazing, will be checking this out for sure at LW :)
Plus a printer cannot print a whole printer, because the printer it prints, would be smaller then its own size confined to the table dimensions.
how long did it take to make the house? Will Gorman
@gloomyandy hehe if you think that's cool you should look at the real makerbots at makerbot.com where ppl are using them to print up replacement parts for their dishwasher :)
where are the legos that used to print the design out?
This is a great invention for people who are too lazy to put Lego sets together by hand.
it was a half hour for that machine for build that model
yes???
I have a real 3D printer, and a second one on the way, and this still makes me smile :)
Doesn't it seem quite hefty to have 3 lego NXT bricks???
dude i'd totally need a printer to make a crazy lego house like that!
The most advanced 3d printers CAN print metals and alloys, therefore in theory, with a big enough printer, you could print another one, though it would be pointless, apart from proving the concept.
is that based on a fused deposition modeling algorithm?
@blazemanfoshizzle Then how did the printer get built?
@kocool1985 why would you even think this might be fake? What's so impossible to believe about it?
how do u designe the house dou first design the computer then send it to ur mission but it is cool
oh my god, this is AMAZING!
@leite182 I actually have one, it's not fake, just damn hard to build.
@MyLifeInVids98 gues how many peices and how much time that required.
@blazemanfoshizzle we have an obesity problem because we sit around thinking up stuff like this.
wait a minute where does the printer get the blocks?
THATS just sooooo cool
Can you put up a tutorial on how to do this ?
@uros160 Not really, printers do the oppisite thing you like them to do, so you will get democrocy. Damm
How long did that take?
Simply amazing.
I... this is so amazing
nice job
@willgorman brilliant
@Puffstoole And the next step would be world domination? xD
Very impressive.
Now make Lego Printer that prints a Lego Printer!
Haha !!!!
so you made that big machine just to build a house
It's all fun and games until you come home to an army of lego killing machines.
A BZPower admin linked to this video in a news report, breaking their own rule of not linking to UA-cam. O_o
Anyways, this is awesome. I should dig out my Mindstorms stuff again...
Could you make a bigger house for my cat?
How long does it take without Speed?
Wake me up when it is able to replicate itself and takes over the world.
let's see how it pulls bricks apart!
Probably is stop motion but still VERY well done!
where do all thesse lego blocks from?
aaw 3 mindstorm NXT robot brick's, i only got 2 of em
that's not in real time right? it can't possibly build something that fast
I wonder if you can make this with EV3
@RDJim
That's why Naomi Klein wrote "No Lego".
@MediaCheese And it proves that lego WILL take over the world.
where do the legos come from
you can get the instructions from the link in the website... so anyone can build it... if you have time...
@takua108 Lego bricks? :O
OMG! Lego meets real time strategy!
is it legal? copying lego bricks?
its got 3 nxt bricks!
can it print another printer?
@Puffstoole
then the printers take over the world! :O
can it make a clone of it self???
Mind.Blown.
@blazemanfoshizzle true.
its remind me to the replicators from stargate. they looked kinda like lego and they reproduced themselfe too. in one year lego will have taken over the world^^
lol, You and what motors?
wish it works with lego digital designer!
WOW I love it it´s very cool!
