Really nice description, I've been working with my kids, they play Bantam right now, and this was clear and easy for them to understand. New subscriber, thanks for content!
how about shots when you are in the slot with your back to the net? i feel like that's a great time to pull a back hand shot after you fake pulling toward the forhand
I don't understand why we learn to shoot with the puck in front because we're almost always skating and shooting at the same time. I learned to shoot standing still with the puck in front, but it always felt awkward to shoot while skating and it wasn't very productive. It seems like we should rethink how we teach players to shoot. The only times I see players shoot with the puck in front is stopped waiting for a pass or defense. Maybe we should teach with the puck in front then move it to shooting side to shoot.
Go watch Tim Turk shooting videos, puck is always out to the side. I love Turky's shooting methods, its how he teaches the high end players. Even watch Darryl Belfry's old stuff on UA-cam, very relatable
One needs to understand the basic mechanics before integrating it to in-motion scenarios. As a player gets more advanced shooting in stride is taught and practiced.
Agree with likewater, puck needs to be carried and shot from your side (when skating forward at the net) however if a player is skating laterally across the ice and shooting at the goalie the puck will be carried in front. It sounds complicated without video examples... but the relationship between the direction you’re skating and the net will call for different ways to carry and shoot from
Always appreciate these videos, thanks for posting.

Great video. There is very helpful because there is not much info out on back handed passing and shooting. Thanks.

There are no hard rules, anything could work. Do you have a clip of the play you’re referring to? I’m curious
