16:01 I was curious about this too Simon but I was recently watching a show on Netflix that was all about auctioning high value shit & the guy running the auction was talking to one of the members of the dream team. He said after they won they all went to the lockroom took of their jerseys threw them in a pile showered got dressed & left. He said it was only after he was walking out the door he thought to go back into the lockroom pick up everyone's winning jersey & save them. So I think they someone at the stadium probably washes & replaces jerseys as needed & ones for Olympics or other special events are just 1 time use.
Petition for Simon to do just one episode in the OGBB style: wandering around, slapping scripts, yelling at Peter, and BUH-duh-bum-bum-tsssh's, just once, for old times sake. Do it for charity! We'll donate!

Simon, One suggestion would be to partner with whatever charity you're interested in helping and give them a limited number of cameo tickets to auction off each month or each quarter. Then, assuming your other sponsors allow it, put a tag in your videos directing people to the page on the charities website where they can get the limited number of cameo requests.
This would allow you to know that all the money went directly to the charity and the charity should be able to provide you with a easy list each month of who won the bids or who donated to them specifically for that one purpose.

I agree, this is the best idea. First, it would keep people from being able to fake receipts. Second, you could limit the amount of cameo tickets given out so it wouldn't take up too much of your time.

@about7grams I do somewhat with Simon as we are from the same area and are in the same school year so could have theoretically actually known each other, but it's so strange with the script writers how you feel like you get to know them just through their words being spoken by another person and never even seing their faces. Would love to go down the pub with Dave Danny and Kevin 😂

I guess selling a worthless item for a ridiculous price and then donating the money to charity is a good way to get a significant tax deduction and buy some good publicity without it actually costing you anything.
Also one can't help but wonder how much of these ridiculous memorabilia sales are nothing more than money laundering like so much of modern art is.

I’ve bought a few ‘celebrity’ items over the years due to the fact that I’m a *huge* nerd. My favourite is Laurence Olivier’s shoe forms (came with an autograph) because he’s why I chose my career. I didn’t necessarily want his shoe forms, but I did want something to display.
Don’t really collect anything anymore, but do enjoy occasionally purchasing something quirky for a friend’s special interest. Found that actor-y collectibles are much less expensive than you’d think! (Unless you’re talking about someone who is currently popular or who died young.)
In re popularity, your Cameo idea sounds really good! Big fan of people using their celebrity powers for good. Might get unwieldy, but you could always walk away from it

Almost all films of the so-called classic era are jarring in their racism/misogyny/classism/etc. The stuff I watched as a kid (pre-cable, much less digital) seems incredible to me now.
i've been rewatching like every brain blaze video even back to the business blaze days and i keep seeing how you progress in age basically in like real time and i was at about 6 months ago and thought to myself "his sport coat looks a little too big on him and the beard is getting really long. he looks older than he is" and now on this video the beard is trimmed and the coat is the right size so you look like you're in your mid 30s again. just thought i should share.

Thought the same think. I absolutely don't like football, never watched any game but still know the name of that guy. I think Simon sometimes just saying things kind of outrageous so people reply more on the video.

@@Waywardwindfall If it's a defender the "hand-to-ball" allowance can be applied, meaning that the kick/header was to the defender's hand - the hand was not moved to interrupt the path of the ball, but the same allowance is not made for the person who initiated the kick/header. It would have not counted with the current system of video-assistance.

that cameo thing doesnt sound like the worst idea, however theres the risk of being overwhelmed with requests or even outright scammed in some way, because usually what you do is you make a request and if it is granted, you pay, however the system youre proposing has the recipiant pay in advance, therefore theoretically obliging you to fulfill the request without knowing of it before. sounds like quite a risk for a youtuber, idk any legal details or anything, just strikes me as something that could turn into a nightmare real fast
he's not obliged to do anything though. it's for charity, could do it, could just not and you can't unpay the charity if he doesn't.

Football does have a Hawkeye camera style system now: V.A.R (Video Assistant Referee). It's been in for a little while now and is.....hit and miss is putting it mildly
Your idea for a charity camo, a few years ago, a bunch of tattoo artists were doing exactly that. "show me you donated to Strajk Kobiet, and i'll do your tattoo for free". this is how I got my burning church tattoo. :D I love this idea.

Simon may not have loved the original Star Trek, but I love the morals and boldness of Gene Roddenberry and Desilu Productions. In a time when most people were sexist and racist (although times were changing), the original Star Trek had women and minorities in high ranking positions on the Enterprise and even had TV's first interracial kiss. They even had an episode in season 3 called "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield", which pointed out the stupidity of racism and how hatred could end the world if nothing was done to stop it. It's my favourite episode

I don't care for sports either, but here in America, people are just as into baseball, basketball, & American football... I've encountered the same problem with sports fans over the years...they seem to think that because they're unreasonably obsessed with sports that everyone else has to be too...WRONG!!! Lol! But I do find out what teams are hated in my area, so when someone asks what team I like, I can get a great eye roll, or just blatant disgust & usually don't have to have a very long conversation about sports... Lol!

The charity cameo thing is a brilliant idea! The only question is how do you verify it with charity that they actually got the donation? The receipt is good, but maybe have set list of charities that you've worked with to more easily verify donations went through?

They have made a new ball (I believe for the world cup specifically) that has sensors inside that can identify its exact position, as well as the position as some players, I believe. So there will be no debate over whether or not it crossed any lines or by what time (out or crosses the goal line, including by a specific time, and possible if someone was offsides around the time of moving the ball toward the goal. The detection of players was not as well covered in the video I saw). It will also help cameras do a better job with the game. I don't really watch football/soccer until the women's USA team gets up there. They are pretty fucking good. At least recently. I don't even know what the men do lol. They are boring because I assume they will lose.
Don’t know about soccer, but they tried that in hockey a few years ago and it wasn’t very successful at the time. Of course, I suspect it’s harder to hide a chip in a puck than a ball.

Players get X amount of new jerseys per season depending on the sport really. Hockey and non-assoc football players here in America are obviously going to go through more of them in a season, but no, they do not get all new jerseys every game. Lot of players are actually superstitious about that sort of stuff and might not wash a particular item of clothing ALL season if they're on a winning streak!

Dude, kidney stones mean kidney colic. Haven't had stones but the colics, I've lived through. Trust me, imagine braking your femur (done that as well) and multiply it by millions. It's the worst pain you can even imagine - and then some more. My mom gave birth to 4 children the natural way but once had kidney colics after a skiing accident. "I'd rather give birth to 10 children more than to experience that again." I'd take torture over kidney colics every day of the week. There is no chance it could be any more painful. You throw up for hours from pain and nothing else and there are points, were you'd gladly trade death for that pain to stop..
