Don't know how many times I've watched this video, but it gives me the bumps every time. Some of my colleagues at work were laughing at me, because I'm listening to Mike Oldfield, but I guess People like them will never understand the beauty that lies in this music.
My first idols were Sweet but very early on (1978?), I discovered Mike Oldfield who was my greates hero along with Rush. Not hard to remember why I liked him so much when I listen to this, Tubular, Taurus, Five miles out and many more. Would loooove to see him again. ///Håkan
A different drummer from the studio version of this song too - the bloke playing drums on the studio version of this was somewhat busy in 1981, releasing two albums (one solo, one with his band) and having a major hit single on his hands.
they're singing in a fantasy language oldfield developed for the song, inspired by the noises babies make before they actually learn to speak. read that somewhere on an oldfield fanpage.
@Biochips1 As I understand it, it wasn't a firing. She was going to start a family and a solo career. At the same time, Mike was having a rather rough split from Virgin Records, and felt that he needed to go back to the '79 way of doing things (hence Amarok).
Its a little bit sad and I like it and I could make this song with Dakota and Elle Fanning and the Gril Scouts Of San Fernando Valley and the vid is a little bit various and I make it in a church.

@Fleischfloete: I was a late one, too. But I soaked up everything that genius has dished out!
when the picture fades from drums to maggie reilly it at 01:37ish it looks like she's wearing huge comedy glasses!

This song is alien
can anybody tell me what they're actually "singing"? o.o
Maggie Reilly is the best voice for Oldfield's themes and I think she sings "Man in the rain" in the original CD version
@anotherjoe50 you are either being facetious, or you are confusing Mike Oldfield with the Beatles
Its a little bit sad and I like it and I could make this song with Dakota and Elle Fanning and the Gril Scouts Of San Fernando Valley and the vid is a little bit various and I make it in a church.
I think these lyrics are alien
These lyrics are definitely alien no way are these lyrics from Earth
This language is alien martian
Google "Mike Oldfield Sheba lyrics" :)
its awkward and flimsy-feeling seeing the keyboardist without his scandalous and perhaps indelicate piano-shirt (see montreux)
