Im from the UK and think Jenny is one of the best on You tube she's a great teacher, she's funny often makes me giggle. She is so clever, what more could you want.
I saw stockings in a catalog for $39 each! I tuned into this sweet lady and after watching her tutorial I made 3 stockings for $5. I did take the cuffs to be personalized.. All three were $6. So each averaged $3.66. She definitely inspired me!
As the mother of a learning crafter who is getting confident with her first sewing machine, this is exactly what I need to get her started on a more “intricate” project which is still mostly straight seams. I drafted and cut the pattern pieces this morning over coffee. Thank you so much for putting out tutorials!
It is now 13 years since you put up this video and I am still making Christmas Stockings to this pattern. Lost count of how many I've made over the years for friends and charity craft fairs.
I know this video was posted 11 years ago, but i just wanted to take a minute to say my thanks because this helped me visually understand sewing the stocking pattern i have. So much easier when i can see it done. Thank you
This is terrific! Thanks so much! As a shortcut, I sewed both ends of the loop into the seam at the same time, so it was hidden. Can't wait to hang them. This is the best!
Concerning the loop for hanging. Insert the loop folded side down (raw edges up) between the cuff and the stocking. Sew as instructed. The loop will be sewn right in. No need to hand sew the other end to the stocking. Hope this makes sense.
I was wondering why she didn't do this and thought I was just missing something! So I went to the comments to see if someone had an answer...thanks for sharing! :)
My favorite stocking tutorial!! So easy and I love to follow along with my best friend Jenny! LOL I've made these out of the faux fur and they are GORGEOUS!
Jenny you are really wonderful and you explain everything so clearly and make sewing an interesting hobby. I learned quilting watching your vedios. and did 2 quilts for my grand son and now am into quilted tote bags and sling bags after watching your tote bag vedios. and when everyone appreciates my work I always say all credit goes to dear Jenny who is my best teacher. you are the best and you explain with cheerful face and inbetween you make us giggle also . it is really fun to learn sewing in this way. tku so much.
I've done a lot of viewing for Christmas Stocking how-tos recently and this is the very best tutorial. The method is simple and makes sense and Jenny is a natural teacher. I'm in London, UK and planning on making my first stocking a 'Stocking Extraordinaire' but will follow the advice given in this simple approach to get the basics done. Love it.
Jenny, you are such a good teacher! My cat could follow your instructions. I think the difference between you and tutorials by others is you make the project and let us see what to do instead of "telling" and leaving us to our own. I always understand you! Thank you. This is a great Christmas gift bag idea!
Thank you very much for this tutorial. I have just finished making my first ever stocking following this video. I'm not a seamstress at all and haven't been on a sewing machine in 33 years 😄. This was so easy to follow. Think I'm going to make more now 😁 thanks again!
I had to watch a few times and finally got the cuff on right, then I forgot the hanging loop - LOL!!!! I so enjoy watching all of these videos. I'm a self-taught sewer (well, my husband taught me how to use HIS sewing machine, then I started Googling and watching videos). Your videos are some of the best - I like how you actually show the sewing part and not just piecing projects today and say what to do. I need to see how it is sewn. THANK YOU!!!
I have never been into any kind of crafting, but I think this year I will buy a sewing machine to make my grandkids some some special stocking from their MeMa. I am so nervous about beginning this journey of crafting. Thank you so much Jenny for making this video you make it looks so easy!!!
I made 4 stockings so far... 3 more to go and I'll be finish. Thanks so much, this would be our first Christmas w stockings since we never had some. I feel proud that I was able to make them and thankful that you take the time teaching us!! Blessings!!
I've been turning small things with a pencil or crochet hook for several years now, thought everyone knew that!! LOL I like this stocking, I made a couple a few years ago with felt, everything was hand stitched including my grandson's names on the stockings.
thank you so much...I wanted to make Theo a stocking and haven't been feeling well..I already have some nice fabric and instead of worrying about batting and quilting I can make a fast stocking he will love..again thank you Jenny..your my favorite teacher..God bless you and your family and all at Missouri Star..Merry Christmas!
Thank you for your wonderful tips and examples on your quilting tutorials. This one is so cute and is inspiring me to sew some for my family. You are adorable!
Jenny you just make everything you do and teach look so easy! I love your style! I too am a “fly by the seat of my pants” girl’. Hahaha! Thank you for your tutorials! I love them all!
I just made my first stockings ever. I've been sewing since age 7. I wish there was a way to post pictures on here. I'm actually pretty proud of the way mine turned out.
Jenny, I was watching a video of a quick way to turn straps, or stocking holders, when trimming off say the clean straight cut of fabric, you use that strip on the outside of your sewing strap, and make it longer than your project and pull that and you can turn your project easy peasy, just cut that off at the lowest place without cutting your project and you have it turned in no time. I used it an apron that had long ties and Wow it worked so nice, they were thin for a kido, and that was a nice refreshing way to use that little tid bit.
Thank you SO much. I'm barely able to operate a sewing machine and I need to do 3 Christmas socks today. I'm just going to follow along with you. Thank you 💗🌼💗
Jenny, absolutely love this! I've already made one & have 4 more cut out! I plan on making stockings for extended family & fill with goodies for Christmas! (including my father, who no longer puts up decorations. This way, he can hang a little bit of Christmas above his fireplace.) Easy to follow instructions, as always! Thanks!
Thank you for this You Tube video! I sewed my very first Christmas stocking. It's for my new puppy. Love your videos. Keep them coming, please! Merry Christmas!
Thank you for sharing this. I'm making my family stockings for Christmas. Thinking about making it a tradition and making new ones each year according to our changing personalities.
thank you soo much for such a quick, fun, informative video! Gonna make one for each of my kids this year. Gonna use a French seam cause I don't have a serger but I'm very confident now after watching your tutorial! Subscribed!! 😄
A few years back, I asked a quilting friend (buddy) to help me make several hundred of these for kids in Foster Care. The following years it expanded to a local radio station, to homeless individuals, and year we included women's & children shelter's. Unfortunately, due to my machine being destroyed in an auto accident, then loosing my all fabric in a recent fabric in a hurricane. I was unable to do any this year. Which broke our hearts.
Just discovered your videos which are so informative! Want to try out the Christmas tree panel. I am not a quilter but love sewing. Seasons Greetings from London!
I had to smile when you "turned" the hanger with a pencil...I have been sewing over 60 years and this is how I always turn a sewn tube....really nothing "new" :)
You make it look so easy and fun, my 9 yr old whatches your videos with me and we get in the sewing mood lol Thank you!!. I love your apron!!! Do you have a tutorial for it??
I'm soooo glad you did this video, I'm too much of a visual person to get the directions from mag. Two question's, could you put the both ends of the hanger on the inside and machine sewn in. And, if you wanted the inside seam allowance hidden how would you do that. Looking forward to seeing your other videos.
I save and then roll out packing paper that comes in those too big boxes. Then I roll it up loosely and put them perpendicular in a shopping bag. That paper is for my handmade patterns. My daughter saves it for me too.
Hi Jenny! Would you please show how to line a stocking again for this: I have a quilted front that I've made, not bought and a fabric back but I can't figure out how to line it. I plan on doing a counted cross stitch stocking next year and I think that would be the same method, having a homemade front and plain fabric back that needs a lining. Thanks for all the tutorials you do!
You made this over 10 years ago and we are still watching you. You are great Jenny. a down to earth kind of person. I love watching your videos.
Im from the UK and think Jenny is one of the best on You tube she's a great teacher, she's funny often makes me giggle. She is so clever, what more could you want.
