Ever since I started talking about the difficulties of having olive undertones as far as finding makeup and styles to wear on my skin tone, I have been getting a lot of comments about it. I want this video to serve as an all inclusive guide to figuring out if you have olive undertones, whether you have fair, medium, tan, or deeper skin tones and what brands are out there that are making olive undertones across different shade ranges.
Time stamps:
00:23 - Signs you might have olive undertone skin
01:36 - How skin tone is made and what makes olive undertones
02:50 - Are all people with olive undertones cool toned?
04:50 - Example of a fair olive undertone
08:11 - New beauty releases with olive undertones

Omg thank you for mentioning that darker skin tones also have olive undertones! I’m a darker olive tone like Gabrielle Union.
Of course 🥹❤️❤️❤️
I’m a dark winter, but I have an olive undertone, I’m rare because I actually get reddish tan in the summer and some dark autumn colors suit me. When it’s winter I think my skin looks super high contrasted. I get lighter with natural pink cheeks. I don’t like to tan much. I prefer my lighter skin tone with pink cheeks.
I’m going through the same experience and currently switching up my wardrobe and make up palettes!
I love the tone of your voice. Thanks for showing a spectrum of olives
This is an excellent description of olive skin tone
Omigosh! Your description of Julianne Moore looking really green in bright red hit me like a hammer -- now I understand why I don't like to wear bright red! This pale green girlie turns into Kermit! Very dark ruby or garnet is OK, but bright red (cool or warm) is a no-go. And I feel more comfortable/put together in black and all shades of gray.
I have deep olive skin. When i tan, i deepen to a deeper neutral brown/ grey color. In the winter my skin is a ochre tinted deep brown. My favorite deep foundation is the Juvias place i am magic foundation in Togo -Deep cool olive and Accra dark cool olive.
OMG that's me...I always end up looking orange, yellow or grey like you said
It’s so annoying trying new foundation 🥲🥲🥲
@@sarah_novio I was always confused why I looked so bad in foundation and now I know why
Oliveskin tone to me always makes the person look exotic..especially when we tan.
I agree 😍
I'm light cool olive and when I tan usually look grey😂
I’m a dark winter and believe i have olive skintone like you, all of the signs that one would have it are what i’ve been going through. thank you for recommending the Smashbox foundation i’m so curious about it ❤
Season twins 🥰🥰 and you’re welcome! ❤️
thank you for this great video, i finally learned that i'm fair\light olive skintone, like you said in your video, too warm overhelm my skintone, and pastel tho, i think im neutral olive than warm, soft slightly warm is better than too warm or bright, middle to dark colors are better but some light neutrals are good tho. navy blue goood on me tho.
not me deciding between camo green and beige military jackets and both looking WRONG on me.
🥲🥲🥲 I like those colors too so now I just cherish my military cargo pants 😅
Yesss @ brown comes in different undertones! I've struggled to find an exact match for foundation for so long. I finally got my acne together so i have gone without foundation for years but I'm getting married this year and now im back to the "what the heck is my undertone
?!" dilemma. Finally figured out I'm olive! Thank you for the makeup recommendations 😊
Grab a blue color corrector. That way even if you cant find a good match for your wedding you can still find a good formula and adjust it.
@@traetrae11 i actually did end up getting one! It's been a life saver
Wow ok this was enlightening as hell. I’m like why am I gray lol. I’ve always love cheek tint even if that’s the only thing I have on.
yes, the fenty raidant one has my colour. its the only foundatin i found that match my skin
I got shade matched for her shade expansion and I might go get it 👀
will you do a review?@@sarah_novio
Hi Sarah! I love your content ❤ I was wondering if you consider Fenty's foundation shade 295 olive? It's described as warm neutral and I was curious how it compares to 290 which is described as true olive
Thank you so much 🥰 I'm gonna give them a try in a few days!
THANK YOU
I had found my perfect foundation years ago, and it's high end. It's estée lauder double wear 3w1 tawny.
Less than 1 month ago i swatched on my neck the maybelline 24h skin tint with vit c number 30 and it's really close to my skin tone, probably a little bit rosier but it works!
Donno if anybody can find this info useful ❤
I'm a medium deep olive but I'm not very saturated. It really is a struggle because deeper olives are almost non-existent in foundations. I did try the About Face in MD2Olive and although the undertone was better than the others it was still almost too yellowy olive and the finish doesn't work well with my oily/combo skin even though my skin is more balanced with my skincare routine.
I have a hard time determining my undertone. My veins look light blue on my wrists, I'm very pale white but I tan easily and professionals always advise me a warm foundation (like golden). So I always believed I had a warm undertone. The problem is these foundations never seem to quite fit. I also struggle to find colors that match my skin tone. Black, deep blue and purple, bright red and pastel colors tend to make me look sick. Whereas warm colors like bright yellow, orange or pink don't look good either somehow. I have noticed that desaturated pink, dark red or mauve and greens look the best on me. They make my skin look healthier, especially kaki and olive greens. Some deep turquoise too. Shades of browns and whites can suit me too. It's annoying because I love bright color but I never seem to rock them...
I have natural rosy cheeks, hazel eyes and light brown hair. I wonder if I have an olive undertone, what do you think about it ?
It sounds like you have an olive undertone but probably a summer season! Either soft summer or cool summer ❤️❤️
@@sarah_novio Thank you for your reply ❤️
I’m a soft summer but I really can’t pinpoint my undertone. I don’t even know if soft summer is correct lol I know I look awful in bright white and yellow. I look good in burgundy and if I’m tan, I feel I can wear brighter colors like pinks. But in the winter pink is horrible on me. Love black but supposedly if I’m a soft summer it’s not a great color for me. Also hair wise anything with gold or copper looks awful unless I have a tan. Blonde only looks good on me if I have a tan but black is a bit too harsh due to my under eyes being dark
You didn’t say how to tell if you have Olive under stones.
Olive skin is an overtone not undertone
I still struggle with finding perfect foundation shades. I just kind of go with my gut with like whatever she will look match me and I honestly don’t know what my undertones are. I think it’s like neutral first, I thought it was like olive but I think that’s like a little bit too dark. 😭🥹
