Excellent video Stuart. Really like seeing your gear setups especially. We lived at CFB Chatham 1971-76 and we always heard the locals say Koosh’-ah-ba-gwak. For what it’s worth.
I grew up in Richibucto and I can vouch for VE1GRP's suggested pronunciation, it's pretty close. I frequented the park before the park actually existed. Cheers Michael VE3WMB / VA2NB (originally VE1BXR).
Always a pleasure to see your videos Stuart. I hope to work you many times on the air this year. Happy New Year my friend. god bless you. Kevin (VE3WKG)
This morning, activating at Bear Mountain State Park, NY (US-2010), I was having trouble getting a spark going. Walking down the spotting page had gotten me plenty of hits the afternoon before in the same exact spot, but this morning it was being Difficult. So I tried it your way: I found a spot on 10, which the MUF map said was just opening up for me to Europe, and threw out CQ without explicitly calling CQ POTA (although I did also spot myself). 14 contacts, only 2 of them on North America. The most DX I've had in any one sitting.
@@WD0OMHamRadio good to hear my friend…it works. Make sure you join WWFF as well and leverage their spotting services as well. The floodgates will open even more.
@@outnaboot I don't know why, but I have had the hardest time wrapping my head around WWFF and its website. I need to sit down with it and absorb it on its own terms and stop expecting it to be like the POTA site but with the POTA logo scratched out and WWFF's logo drawn in crayon 🙂
How have you been liking the Buddipole? I feel like mine has been having some potential issues lately with my POTA activations, but I do only have the 8 ft mast (and a 15ish year old unit). Going to keep trying it to determine if something is actually wrong.
For your mobile, how do you like your ATAS-120??? I see you mounted it on your front hood....I drilled into my roof and its above me. I didn't like knowing the fact I had 100w of RF radiating in line with my face just 6 feet away. Like your channel...subbed.
I love my ATAS. I have made a ton of DX contacts with it from Australia, the Falkland Islands, and Europe, and I just worked SW Africa mobile on it yesterday. Mine is not drilled into my vehicle; I have it on a mount that is just bolted to the frame. It works great.

How to tell everyone you’re not local without telling them you’re not local. Should talk to some locals to learn the pronunciation of the park name. Keep up the good work and the videos coming. See you next time.

Nice video. Do you have a video on installing the ATAS? I have one ordered
Ha Ha...not me, I am a great operator and a horrible technical person

@@bryangarfoot7225 I am pretty happy with mine. The tripod is not the best, but the antenna seems to work very well.
How do you like the powerwerx box? Do you have to open it up to charge it?
Love it and I do not have to open it to charge...just connect to the binding posts
