Tony your fans don’t watch you cause you guys pump out a project weekly. We watch you because we like you as a builder and person. Keep the videos coming and we’ll “Stay Tuned!!”
Well said, you hit the nail on the head,
Exactly! I was going to say the same thing! But you already hit the nail on the head! We love you guys and if you aren't working 20 hrs a day to turn out a car in a couple days, we're OK with that. If you make a couple videos of working on a certain project we will still absolutely love it! We don't you guys getting burnt out and deciding to quit UA-cam. There's only 4 UA-camrs I watch ever video as soon as they drop. You, Cleet, VGG and Roman that's it. Also, if you know you can't keep help because of the over working, that's great of you to recognize that issue and change it, so you can get Help and keep them around. We all support you and love StayTuned! We don't want you to actually lose the shop!
THIS. Split the project up into multiple episodes over months. Stop burning these kids out.
Dude, you do you. We're gonna keep watching. Better in depth builds, longer videos, more focused content..👍 I'll STAY TUNED
Heck yeah
I'm very happy for you. I want to see Tony in 30 years still doing this.
Amen Derek. Same goes to you too! Take your time, and care for yourself, your family, and all those who help you with VGG. We know how hard you grind as well. You've also worked too hard to ever feel too stressed, exhausted, or pulled in four directions at once by all this stuff. True fans of you and the content will always be there. 🫡
I agree, couldn’t have said it any better myself.
Amen 🙏🏼
Same here, brother
💯
Stay Tuned is finally growing into its name! Slow down, have more fun, take us along for the ride. Endlessly proud of you and all this pizza team has accomplished 💖
We're Gonna Change the Shop!
BUT THE PIZZA SQUAD FAM WILL ALWAYS SURVIVE! 🍕🍕👌🤘
You beat me to it! I salute you @homewrecker44
Hell yeah dude change is beautiful
Dude, this is the best comment EVER! Hahahaha! Love it!
I'll buy that tshirt
You might think we watch this channel for the content, but we don't. We watch it because we like you. So take it easy, upload whatever, and we'll watch it. One full project per week is fucking insane, take it easy man!
Well said
How many channels can you see them ripping an old muscle car and then a drift missile and then a supercar smoking pickup truck week after week? It's like a lottery, but everyone wins. If it takes some more time in-between, I'm not sweating it.
Totally agree, the projects are cool but honestly the main reason I watch is because you guys are funny and its a great change from a lot of the channels on here. Its like hanging out with your buddys in the shop, what your working on doesnt always matter
You could be painting a room just talking and is watch lol it woukd be cool to see you do some local racing / drifting stuff and dang brother build a burnout car we wanna see those skills in a burnout pit
Speak for yourself! I watch it because I like Barb trolling Tony.
Admirable! We don’t want you guys to burn out. We’re loyal. 💪🏽
💯
I guarantee you won’t lose views if you change it up . We will still watch everything . I mean finnegan takes a year to get a car done lol 😂 love the channel
HAHHAA true! Thanks for the vote of confidence.
@@leprechaungarage has Finn finished a car? He gave one away that wasn't done. Still waiting for the Caddy.
A year and 5 transmissions between laps. 😸
I was coming into the comments to say exactly this!!
Right! 😊
I honestly enjoy projects spread out over weeks rather than knocked out in one episode. The long process of building a car is much more relatable and entertaining.
Get well soon. The show will always be great no matter what.
Fully agree, but don't just give us filler footage to make an episode. We want to see you and the guys work on the cars, hear some of your stories, understand your passion for cars, friends and pizza, at a sustainable pace. But we do need to see some stuff actually happen...
For what it’s worth, this is the format I prefer! The reason I always watched channels like the skid factory and MCM was the long multi episode builds where we can see more of the process of building sweet cars! I’m excited for future episodes!
This kinda comes as a relief. All the things you were doing got a bit overwhelming, hard to keep up with. Less is gonna be more. Fun for you is fun for us. Hell, yeah! And stay well.
It felt hard to get invested into when it was a new thing every week. I had no idea what was going on half the time something got posted.
More pizza, more dad jokes, and more car culture stuff. I love the projects but I like the fun goofy stuff just as much. Especially the endless Gen X references😂. I also really like when you show tools that rock and make our lives easier that we may not have known about. Just some food for thought. Get well soon buddy. Proud to be Pizza Squad. 🍕
Thanks a ton, that is the plan! We got some rad tools in last week, they will pop up here and there!
@@StayTunedTA If Tennessee wasn’t so far from Pizza, Pennsyltucky I would be dropping that résumé. We could opine about how the 90’s were a better time 🎉
ST is my type of ASMR. I know very little about cars, never worked on one, but I just enjoy watching yall problem-solve while having a good time (I probably understand about 30% of what yall are saying!). Just wanna thank you all for cranking out new episodes in such a regular basis. It's something I look forward to every Friday. 🍕
This channel is awesome. I’d watch y’all sit around for an hour and drink beer and tell hot rod stories. We’re in it for the long haul
Amen brother
I'm not going anywhere. You do what you do, I'll watch. Get better soon.
There is a You Tube channel that has been building the same car for a year and people love it. Not only is there nothing wrong with doing the deep dive and long term project videos, there is something very right about it since most of us viewers would need a lot of time on a project, so it is very relatable.
Been wondering how long that thrash was going to last. Glad to see you're gearing down, especially with Barb's baby on the way. It'll be excellent content regardless if it's a car a week or 6 weeks of the same car! THE BEST car show on earth!
100%
My thoughts exactly. I was afraid they would start getting burnt out. Glad to see they're re-evaluating things.
Since the channel started I always thought they moved WAY too fast on builds. It makes for great content, but they were gonna get burned out eventually. They were doing full builds in a WEEK sometimes, and that's just not sustainable. I don't think any reasonable sub to this channel would complain about multi-part videos. Tony isn't the kind of person who leaves projects half done, so it's not like we'll be missing out. If anything, it'll give them time to be even MORE detailed and I think the quality of the videos can only INCREASE from them taking their time.
I was thinking the same last month, the pace has been insane. YT'ers are used to multi-vid builds, in most cases that's all you get. I'm sure his 10% effort will be more than most people's 110%.
Sounds like a smart plan. I'm far more interested in the builds that take time than the builds you jam out in a week... you've been there, done that, got the t-shirt. I would also add that while it's nice to have longer videos, don't feel like you're short-changing us if you put out a 30 minute video - some of these YT folks put out hour+ videos and I'm much more likely to skip chunks of it when it's that long.
I’m not even a tri-five guy, but that thing is so cool! Man… you guys do you. I think your faithful aren’t going to lose interest or quit watching. Pretty sure 99% of people here have followed you from HRG, rightfully so. You’re good man. Don’t sweat it.
Take it slow and you will have a life. We will be here to support you and Barb . Have a great rest of your week Tony.
Tony…dude… we don’t expect you and the team to get every car done in one video every time. Hell tbh it makes it a lil more relatable if it takes a couple weeks to get something going and running. We love the channel and the team non the less. You guys go at your own speed. We will still be just as entertained and tuned in every week.
The shorter the videos the better. I want the satisfaction of finishing a video. A 30+ minute video is too much of a time commitment with where I’m at in life right now between work, wife, kids, etc. Keep up the great work 👍
Dude this is definitely the right way to go. I think we all would agree that we would love to see these projects done. And we don't want your quality of life to suffer at all for it. The Pizza Squad has your back brother. 🍕Go Birds 🦅!
I watch because you and your crew are very entertaining, not to see a whole project get done in 1 episode. Take your time and get back to enjoying the journey, we will all be here watching.
I like the new mindset- it's all about enjoying the process rather than stressing over how long it takes or worrying about external expectations. Just have fun.
But if you sell the Sy-clone, your viewership will drop in half.
Stay after your dreams, sir.
We watch for the content not the deadlines! You make the rules we just sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor! You guys are killing it. Keep it up and keep it right and what’s best for you guys. Lovin it!
Agree, for awhile I’ve been wishing you would show more of the build process and finish old builds. There is a happy medium between VGG 2 hour ramble fests and tv style build shows.
Longer less edited content is always my jam. As previously stated, we love yall for yall. You don’t need to pump out a car a week, just some videos to keep me entertained about your cars
I will keep watching even if it takes 20 videos to finish a cool project! You guys work on a lot of cars that I like so I'm IN!
The great thing about UA-cam Vs. TV is that you have time to go into the actual details of a build. You don't go to a commercial, come back and half the car is done. You guys actually show the problem areas and pitfalls that you run into. That is valuable information to anyone that wants to take on project cars.
So, select any forward gear and let's go!
How many people watched Mike Burrows and his 100+ episode building the Ferrari 308? I did and I'm still watching him build the Audi and the F40. I don't care how many episodes it takes, I've vested in the build!
I said in a comment weeks back they are giving it all up to easy, 1.5hr episodes, yourtube should not be more than 20 min chunks. spread out your content.
Hey, Tony and Barb. My name is jt botkin i am 26 from oxford pa about five minutes from Chris Wilson’s shop, my old man works for chris and does the cylinder heads there at wilson race engines who you guys are obviously familiar with and I would like to get a hold of you guys and see if I could be a good fit for the team since im local I am ASE CERTIFIED and I’m a 3rd generation dragracer. Very motivated and team oriented. I work well under pressure. I do whatever it takes to get the job done no matter what. So we can turn that win light on. I have an 84 Monte Carlo i built its a no prep/Street car its got a pretty stout small block nitrous combination i built in it with a glide that i refreshed as well. She likes to party. I also build Harley Davidson Choppers, and a service Harley Davisons on the side. I don’t know if you guys will be able to see this. But if you do and you’re interested, let me know and I’ll get your number from Rich or something and we can set something up and talk on the phone or whatever y’all wanna do moving forward if anything at all. Thank you for your time and I will always stay TUNED!!
He said an email put in your resume
@ i did finally i wrote this while watching half way thru video
Lmao
No one ever said you have to melt tires every episode, I can only speak for myself, I watch because I love what you guys do, I enjoy your east coast personalities. I'm in New York. I can identify with the weather, the rust and everything like that. The punk rock sound tracks make me smile. I won't be going anywhere ❤
When I heard Stone was leaving it put in my mind the work load you carry. Take care of yourself so you can continue to take care of those kids. You'll figure out the balance that you're looking for and we'll all be here enjoying that patented T.A. attitude and energy while you continue to turn wrenches and burn metal.
Much love to TA, Barb, and all the guys who have come and gone. Sustainable pace is a must. I’ll be watching whatever gets put out a dozen times anyways. Keep ripping y’all.
"Do it, just do it!"
Dude its your dream, your cars, your time, your money, do it your way. I doubt your gonna lose fans, and honestly the more your videos are detailed, I'm sure the more people will follow.
Keep em coming!!!
Thanks Tony! I agree with the approach totally! I've been going through the backlog of VGG, and I find myself really getting into the longer series of car builds, where you get to see mechanical, suspension, body, paint, etc over time, and the car is a banger at the end. Also always love seeing you with other YTers, or really in drag and drive events!
Also, the PowerKraut is my favorite, and what really got me into your channel!
Same I love the car builds but I also would want to see him drive him from the barn to the shop to build lol
I agree 100%
Completely understand where you're coming from man, we get used to the grind and trying to get things done as quick as we can but the grind takes all the fun out of it, which is the main reason why most of us turn wrenches... for what its worth we enjoy the longer projects anyway man! Can't wait to see that foxbody and your 55' again brother! Hope yall have a good weekend bud🍻
Appreciate the support!
I am glad you are slowing down and having more fun taking your time doing projects. Seeing multiple episodes on a cool car, seeing it take shape, is much more entertaining than the TV episodes where they skip 3 days of grinding to have a polished turd 30 minutes after the show starts.
Tony, no matter what you do, I'm sure its going to kick ass and I'll be watching. Keep up the good work
I've heard similar things before and it seems creators forget that we aren't fans of the vehicles and demand progress. We are fans of you guys. We are here to watch you. Even Derek gets nervous if he does a 3 video build without a rescue as if every video needs to be a rescue, which isn't true. Pretty much everything Might Car Mods puts out is a series so you don't have to reach a certain goal every week. Kevin Tet's channel is new but he's only worked on 2 vehicles this whole time.
I keep a sign hanging next to my front door that says "Please help me not be so busy making a living that I forget to make a life."
Thanks!
Hey brother, your authenticity and love for cars tugs at the heart strings. Stay turning wrenches, and we'll be here to watch it all shake out.
Hell yeah Tony , dont kill your self , we will be here ! My god what a pace you guys were going at ! No one does that , no one in one episode! You never had to go that , seriously! We loved it , every single project ! You guys knocked out of the park ! So no need to explain brother ! Everything will work it self out ! Just relax and do you ! People love you and Barb , doesnt matter if you take your time and do a project ! I am sure everyone will be here watching ! Peace and Love ! Get better !
2000% of why this is my favorite channel is because it feels like hanging with my friends at my shop working on b/s, you guys are so relatable. if you're not having fun, we aren't having fun. step back, regroup, we will still be here.
THAT BEING SAID one of the other things I love about this channel is that it's a different car every week. I get you don't want/need a 27 car field to keep us entertained, but I do enjoy the variety. maybe devote each week to a different car, with in depth explanation of what's happening? to draw it out and make it interesting? maybe that's just me. just my $0.002
either way you're not gonna LoOsE tHe ShOp!! 😂 🍻
Hey bro, everyone needs time to spend with their family! Even if it takes longer the PIZZA SQUAD is still gonna be watching! 2025 is gonna be WICKED!!! Can't wait to see your dad's 68, and the 55! PEACE ✌️
Hell yeah Tony, what ever you gotta do man. You should make the cars you are gunna sell available to fans and supporters. Keep up the good work!
Tony.. Take it easy brother.. I have worked with animals like you and your work ethic for years.. You and boys have built a great channel ! All your fans are here for you. It's not a race, This you tube thing is a marathon. your content is amazing and all of us will keep watching regardless. It's ok to run 4th gear for a bit. We all have families and other stuff. And I say animal in the most endearing way possible. Thank you and Barb and everyone involved at Stay tuned for the best car content out there..
A lot of the reason I love your videos and VGG videos is the educational part. I'm an aspiring grease monkey and would love a little more of your commentary, instruction, and reasoning while you put these cars/videos together. even if you put out a 30 minute video a week and get a little more in depth on what your putting together, parts selection, techniques, etc. I would love it personally, even if the projects took 3x-10x time to wrap up
especially on a challenging build like the V12 Mustang, even the wiring harness design/build process is probably pretty fascinating and worth a video of its own
You guys have been absolutely CRUSHING it for the past two years. The work ethic is unbelievable. Big props to those that have contributed to this channel so far. Like everything else in life, though, you gotta find the balance. Looking forward to seeing what comes next!!!
As many have said in the comments, it's the entertainment value, not a production assembly line. You're a personable guy, relatable to many car enthusiasts and fans - that's why I watch. The fast paced builds are fun, but you could easily keep the same attraction to your channel with a slower pace, showing some things you edit out in the weekly builds. Do what you can sustain and we'll be there for you.
Quality is by far better than quantity. Good path forward. Looking forward to what's around the bend. God Speed !
Hey Tony, the vibe of stay tuned is what we're here for. A couple friends hanging out in the shop, working on cool old cars, building rad stuff on a budget. If you're having fun, we're having fun. Great moves, keep it up, proud of you!
I think you're right about your experience & expectations after your time at MT. You seemed to hit the ground running with Stay Tuned. Most YT channels take a while to get to going & deal with logistics, but you were off to a flying start.
While it's great to have a format where a project gets to significant points of progress each episode like you've been doing, most of us understand that these kind of projects often aren't that simple/fast to do. One of the things I like about the channel is how some cars you build on a budget & some you go a little further to make them special. Some other YT creators don't seem to be so clear about the difference...
Some of the TV car shows out there do stuff like going to commercial & then coming back to a scratch-built chassis just siting there after the break, which is totally lame & not at all useful for viewers wanting to learn...Your approach is realistic & when stuff doesn't come together fast, you explain why... I'm sure most of your viewers will have experience of not moving on while waiting for parts to show up, or having something seized that turns a simple job into an all-day PITA...
If you keep the same tone, passion for cars & honesty, you won't lose your audience, whatever you do with your format.
Maybe you wouldn't put in the extra long days quite so much if it wasn't for the pressure of the weeks deadline, but you do seem the type to want to get 'er done while you're on a roll... Whatever, it's not worth running yourself into the ground over.
Have you seen Trioxin Customs '58 Plymouth build? His videos are pretty bare-bones compared to yours, but are a good example of how just telling the story of the progress on a car can be good to watch. Like your content, he seems to be posting in more-or-less real time. In the case of the '58, he's only working on it 1 or 2 days a week, resulting in a 30+ minute video each week.
Keep on keepin' on. We'll be here.
family and health is always numero uno. Think if do get back to the funny and entertaining side of building cars can still have success. That was one thing that was cool about Hot Rod Garage was the humor side with cool cars. Keep it real, in real life there are always setbacks, may not get the project done in one week, going balls to the walls all the time will burn you out quick.
I was literally just talking with my brother about your channel and how you guys don’t always get things done in one video. I think that keeps your videos relatable to everyone who’s wrenching on projects at home. That’s what makes it enjoyable to watch.
Tony. The QUALITY of your show is off the chart. Don't worry about the quantity. I'm still with you. Rock on.
PREACH my friend! Just remember that UA-cam just lets us see into the lives of people doing it. We learn as you guys learn, and every car guy out there has known this grind to get a project done. Take care of yourself and your family (Barb as well) and happy to hear you have a plan to move forward.
I look forward to the change and seeing more smiles, bit more laid back on timeline, leaving more time for shenanigans and good times
Gotta enjoy what you do along with producing work. PA business owner here as well and know first hand about 15+ hour days and burning out. Had to cut back to begin enjoying it again. I won't stop watching and doubt anyone will. Keep up the good work guys and have some pizza for me 😂
Tony build and have fun at your own speed. 24:36
I knew who you were from other youtube channels but the porsche build is what brought me to your channel. The quick junker engine slaps havent been as engaging to me lately. I like the idea of less but better more complete builds. Keep at it though and stay true to what you want. Above all you have to be enjoying it to make a good product for the rest of us. 🍻🍕
We don’t need a finished car each episode we understand that these things take time, an additional bonus is more content that show problems ,mistakes along with the home runs we will always watch, yours and barb’s personalities are a good bit of why we watch! I will “Stay Tuned”
HellYeah Bud. I think we’re all here for a good time. Do Burnouts, Don’t Burnout! You got a lifetime of projects already. Let’s have some fun 🤘🤘🤘🤣🤣🔥🔥🍺🍕
Also feel better man🤘🤘
Sounds like a good change! I’m excited to see more of the cool projects getting screen time! It was getting hard to keep up with all the different cars lol and it’ll be healthier for you guys as well.
I've always been blown away by how hard you guys hustle and how much you get done each week. To be honest I've been thinking it would be good to see things slow down and build the cars we know you are capable of with more time. I would also welcome seeing you guys enjoying the finished builds. more. More stuff outside of the shop thrash, maybe taking us along for the collection, road tripping and generally enjoying the cards for what you built them for. Don't burn yourselves out, you're already grinding harder than most other youtubers.
Love the content as always . I wondered when the 100+ mph every week was gonna hit the wall. I enjoy all of the former MT folks making content every week. To me , it's not necessary to thrash a different car to be entertaining. Most of us who follow you guys , watched Finnegan do 2 hour long vids of BlaspHemi get all new wiring & a 3rd seat crammed in the back and it was entertaining as all get out.
I think seeing you guys fine tuning your projects a little bit at a time would be great fun to watch AND give you the satisfaction of completion of a project well done.
Your ability to explain what your doing and make it fun is what all of you MT folks have in common and we love that. Do it how ever you want and know that we will Stay Tuned every week.
Man this is one of my favorite channels, changing up the format is not a big deal at all, I think we will all be here and enjoy it just as much. Plus, you got to keep your family happy and your health! Grinding all the time to get a whole episode out every week seems unsustainable. Love the channel and keep up the good work focusing on your favorite builds!
I was a tech for 18 years and stopped to become a service writer in Buffalo NY. I have been service writing for 5 years now for a brand that just SUCKS so I am missing the tech stuff again. I am building a restomod 1964 Vette in my garage at home and am almost done with the build but I have a 1966 GTO and a 1968 vette to build also. I miss getting my hands dirty on a daily basis. I am looking at starting a new chapter in my life. I can't wait to see you guys finish the long term projects we have been waiting for.
Take it slow and you will have a life. We will be here to support you and Barb . Have a great rest of your week Tony.first car should be your dads!
Well it looks like The Best Damn Car Show on the Internet is just going to get even better!
You SoB, I'm in. Appreciate everyone that has made and does make this channel what it is. I'm along for the ride.
Right on, thanks for sticking with us!
I completely agree-this is a great move. The formula of introducing a new project in every episode was starting to make the show feel unrelatable for me…. Also, if you think about Seinfeld for example, it was famously a show about nothing, yet it became one of the most-watched shows. Why? Because people loved the characters. I watch Stay Tuned more because I’m a fan of Tony, not because the car was running at the end. The cars and projects are just a bonus. I am a fan of more of a longer running series. I think some of VGG best content are the multi episode on the same car…
I honestly would prefer a longer term project series that is more detailed. I'm not a huge fan of the random one day builds. Less of a TV show vibe and more of a this is our project, lets build it over the next few months.
Even my ADD was like "another project?!" when you dragged that El Camino back last week. I think your plan is exactly what the channel needs. I have been DYING to see both the v12 Mustang and your father's Camaro get done for ages. I don't care if you get something running and driving every episode, not a bit. I want to see cool, quality builds like the 'kraut.
Tony!! I think Stone leaving, some tough COVID and exhaustion from making appearances has you feeling like something needs to change. It doesn't! We don't watch you because you get something "done" every week. We watch you because of your creativity, knowledge, smartassedness and fun. You guys CONSISTENTLY put together fun, interesting, creative content. THAT is why we watch. If you break a project into parts we will watch it with just as much satisfaction as we have all your previous content. If you have to take time off and take care of yourself, your family and your team that is called life and we will wait until you post again. So, shed some of this pressure you're putting on yourself and know we are with you brother. And get some REST! COVID is no joke and will take time to recover from.
OK Tony,
I make a lot of crazy comments on here trying to be funny, but I spent 25 years in broadcast programming and have done a lot of deep marketing and research along the way. I'd like to share some thoughts.
I'm a HUGE fan of yours, and Barb's, too. Way back when Barb filled in as co-host with you on Hot Rod Garage, the friendship and chemistry between the two of you was apparent, and was one of the reasons y'all were so compelling. Reminds me of when my buddies and I used to help each other with our cars back when we were young and thin ... OK, Barb;s thin One thing that's happened as Stay Tuned has progressed is, Barb seems to be getting less and less screen time, and when he's on, it's often not the two of you together. I think that's to the detriment of the brand. Two best friends working on cars is something really relatable to car guys, and I think it's a big part of the secret sauce of Stay Tuned.
What about if, instead of replacing Zack and Stone with another full time person, you split the budget up and hired someone part-time, behind the scenes to do the administrative stuff Barb is saddled with, and someone part-time to do some of the mechanical grunt work? Then you and Barb could spend more time together on-camera?
Hey, how about you hired a mechanic who's also a hot chick in a bikini to do the grunt work? I can see the views going through the roof already!
Seriously, is there a mechanic's school nearby? If there is, bet you could get them to provide interns for the exposure. If not, recruit some promising kid from there to work part-time and incorporate showing him or her how to do stuff as part of the show.
Another big area I think you could improve on is pace. You try and get a ton of work done every week for Friday's upload and work such long days ... why not slow down a bit? Build the LS one week. Build the 327 the next. Then test them the next. Work 8 hours a day. Take a day off every now and then. The anxiety racing against that deadline every week creates has to be incredible. It also causes you to sometimes make compromises. You could plan your schedule around wrapping on Wednesday with Thursdays for pick-ups or for when something goes wrong. Give yourselves a little breathing room.
I don't think any of your audience would mind seeing projects going over multiple weeks, especially if the individual episodes were a little more in-depth, but I do think it's important to finish the projects in a timely manner. I LOVE the 55 and I'm on pins and needles to see you finish it. I'm not as crazy about the V-12 Fox Body, but it's cool and I'd like to see it. I think you should set a rule that you stick with a project until it's finished. I think it's fine if you split it into stages, like maybe you revisit the 55 at some point and put a turbo or a blower on it, but I think each stage should leave the car running and driving and complete in that iteration.
I watched Stacey David for many years. One thing that always bugged me was the way projects would disappear mid-build for months at a time (even years!), then come back for a segment on making custom spark plug wires for it, or new weatherstripping, then it would disappear again. I don't think Sgt Rock is finished yet. It's been 20 years! He started a 79 Camaro project with a 70 nose and tail panel over 10 years ago, then never worked on it. Drove me so crazy I quit watching, and he did some cool stuff when he wasn't doing episodes that were informercials for toolboxes.
Along with shortening your work week, slowing down would also shorten episode length, which I think is an issue. There's a challenge with that with you, though.
I watch you every week. Also Frieberger, Finnegan and 12 Volt Dave. Watching their shows, I can see where 15-20 minutes could easily be cut out of each show with better editing and stopping when they go off on tangents and reshooting that scene. Frieberger is amazingly polished and articulate, but Finnegan and Newbern kind of wander a bit. Their shows would be better with more effort in editing and reshoots.
Your problem is, when you wander and prattle, the offhand comments you make are HILARIOUS. They're part of what makes Stay Tuned so unique and cool. It would be a horrible idea to cut them out for time.
Your average runtime is close to an hour. I think the ideal runtime would be about 25-30 minutes. If I was in charge, I wouldn't try to edit you down, I'd just cut the shows in half.
Problem solved.
Hey, you wanna put me in charge?
I think it would also be cool to have more episodes where you do stuff with the cars, but cooler stuff than just going to Englishtown and doing 0-60.
What about if you went to a Porshe club meet with PowerKraut, set it up with cameras running and walked away, then show all the Porshe guys talking about what an abomination it is? Like when Finnegan did that with the fake Daytona, but with hate?
What about taking the 55 on Power Tour, and filming all of it, from when you leave the shop till you get back?
The episode where you took the 80s Trans Am on the drag-n-drive was awesome, but it would've been even cooler if it was you and Barb.
Stay Tuned is awesome, Tony, but the way you've burned out Denver, then Zack, then Stone could easily be the tip of the iceberg. You, Barb, or both of you could be next. I think you're making a great decision to address this now, especially when Barb's got a new baby on the way.
My Momma used to always tell me I was so lazy I'd marry a pregnant woman. Clearly, Barb doesn't have that problem.
(also, I really enjoyed the episode when Barb was working with his dad, and the one where you were working with yours. good stuff)
I sure hope Tony reads this because this is wisdom right here! Excellent advice Sean!
Thank you for writing what i wanted to say.
I want to add something:
Tony you idiot! You have the mechanic you need for the show! You just wasting the talent by having him sit at the desk. When i heard you say hi takes care of things like payroll, i was rolling my eyes. Really? He is the mechanic you want and you put him in the office? That guy who your audience know and love already? Hire someone to do administrative stuff. or outsource some of it to your accountant if that is possible. Don't say you do your own accounting.. Get Barb back in the shop.
As a business owner i know the administrative bs kill creativity and takes time out of the thing yiu started your business for. Yes, running a youtube show is a business.
As far as content goes. Some random beater here and there may be refreshing but get back to those higher end build. We have million beater build channels. We have only one Stay tuned, regular guys doing more high end stuff. You do not need get it all done in one week. There are tons of interesting stuff that go to each of these builds. And remember that if you work less hours you are more relaxed, bring the fun back in the show and work more quality hours. You may not get as much wrenching on film but you get the jokes and brotherhood back on the show.
When i started watching your show it was a couple of buddies having fun and building cool stuff. Now it is in the risk of evolving to watching couple of guys grinding for the sake of grinding
Peace, love and all the other "warm and fuzzy inside" stuff
The most important thing you said in that entire video was “ sustainable “. We’re here, we watch, we will be here watching. I hope the new direction makes your personal lives more enjoyable
This is so awesome! Humility meets comedy, what a duo!
That's a nice comment coming from a bot.
I like watching the fun.
Definitely stop and smell the roses!!! I love the idea! You guys are young, you work for yourself, who are you rushing for? You got this!
i like the builds and the personalities.. one day builds one week builds doesnt matter to me... slow down, be more informative, take some time with them.. film a bit here and there.. whatever keeps stay tuned making content :)
From a fellow PA guy, I get the work ethic. But, don’t sacrifice you and the team’s well being to please what you think we want. Make the content you want and we’ll be here.
Very glad I found your channel and I’ll support you however I can.
"We're Gonna Lose the Shop!" could be code for we're gonna burn out if we dont do a reset!
You guys have done a lot- thanks, now chill and enjoy your current builds a little. Do some colabs and get that crossover energy, ie do Drag Week, visit PowerTour, Woodward, etc. with any of your cool cars from the fleet.
I've gotta say i only really started frequently watching your videos recently, and one of the first things i noticed was how many builds you'd done in a short time, and in rather quick roadkill fashion, lots of late nights all the time. I remember Freiburger talking about the cause of the quick builds at motor trend being something like "the time pressure was always cause we didn't do the builds until we actually really had to, and then we'd have to finish it quick cause we were going somewhere"(not an actual quote). I figure you guys have less of those pressures going on, so don't wear yourself out doing stuff you love till you don't love it anymore. It's really cool stuff you do, and it's great watching, but I want things to go well for you guys too. Jesus set up time for rest right at creation, so I think it's good for ya. God bless 👍
Tony, firstly I hope you're feeling better now.
I have to agree with the other comments here that people don't watch Stay Tuned because you turn out a build an episode, it's because of you, Barb and the (ever changing 😜) team, your enthusiasm for what your doing, your knowledge and the wild/cool stuff you do.
Personally I'd happily watch a series of weekly posts on one partcular build, sitting down to watch your latest post in part of my early Saturday morning routine (here in the UK), a great way to watch stuff that's 'bananas' getting built with a lot of laughs thrown in.
As we say here in the UK 'Keep up the good work fella' 😁✊👍
i think slowing things down and covering more in each episode and not having these crazy deadlines is long overdue. one off projects that had to be completed in like 1 episode and never to be seen again was the demise of most motor trends shows like dirt every day. I think this is a great direction
It's like hanging out with friends. I'll support what ever you do. love the show
You’re right about everything. You guys have been pushing for high-quality and high quantity. It’s impressive how long you’ve done this but in the end, it’s just not sustainable long-term.
Maybe a special situation will come up once in a while here and there where it is warranted, but it should be the exception. Never the rule.
Reducing the workload by maybe not making as much progress with each episode is smart.
You can maintain quantity while focusing on quality because you’re not grinding so hard. Burning up all of that midnight oil.
It just makes perfect sense. Making quality content, but maintaining a better work/life balance. Spending more time with your families.
I’ll have a slice of pie in honor of Stay Tuned. Long live the channel.
Tony, this is the way. Go for it.
Godspeed.
The things that slow you down are the really interesting part. Slow down and show us the issue, the puzzling over possible solutions, the failures on first attempt (and second etc.). Roadkill and Project Binky are great because they bring us along for the tricky debugging and setbacks.
Fun. Having fun is the most important thing in a UA-cam video.
One of the things I like about youtube car channels vs watching Powerblock growing up is getting to see more details of the build. Longer multiple episodes of a single build is a good thing.
Brilliant idea to focus on multi-episode builds. Easier on you both and your families, which is the most important aspect of the planned changes. Drop everything and thrash on your Dad's Camaro first, I'd say. Also, never worry about losing your audience - we don't Stay Tuned by accident.
Thanks for the real world check! I think this is a wonderful choice. I would venture to guess most of your viewers can't afford to throw down on a project without the reality that it will be a long term project. Nothing wrong with throwing some fun day videos of just taking something out to bash on it at the track for a break form building stuff just to get your mind in tune 🤪. My opinion is its a win to help people identify most projects are better served with some extra time! Sometimes we do love thrashing in the quest for funzeez, but most of the time we are just trying not to break the wallet to build something we will be able to enjoy long term. Thanks again Tony and crew I think you'll enjoy the change!
Bruh. Take it easy! We got you, this channel rips. Do what you can when you can, we will be here!
Listen dude…. We are ALL loving watching you and your crew have a fun time while building wild rides. I don’t care one bit if you build one or thirty cars a year. It’s the mood… the grimy work… the pizza… the brotherly love…. the kids hanging out with dad…. I love your show and will watch you all long as your sharing your hard work. Keep letting us live vicariously through you Tony!!!
I agree you should focus on the more radical and nostalgic stuff like the V12 mustang and your Dad's camaro. Either way your character, enthusiasm and sense of humor is why we stay tuned man!
I’m here for the long haul…have fun keeping making awesome content and your community will follow!
Dudes, theres so much more content and fun moments to be had by getting things done in a few weeks than trying to slam it all into five days. Take a beat, enjoy the process and build some cool shit - it seems like everyone will be here for the ride.
Tony and Barb, as long as it doesn't turn into a channel that never finishes a project, you never have to worry about losing the shop or 1 subscriber ever. This channel is friggin awesome, and the content is awesome. Keep up the great work, and enjoy it a little bit more. I also want that El Camino...lol
You’re right, we watch you because you’re entertaining. The content is great. You gotta be able to sustain both mentally, financially. Completing every project in one episode probably isnt a long term option.
i hope you guys don't lose the premise of budget friendly speed, you know down and dirty. that's what drew me to your channel. even if it takes more than one week.
the sykeclone and barbs d100 are two of my favoret projects and they were both multi week projects.
Besides being a fan, I did it for a living without the tv/YT aspect. I was a JBA Speed Shop in SD for several years. We did everything, resto to race cars. In house machine shop and body/fab guys. Calling it a grind is the best description I can think of. What you guys get accomplished is freaking amazing. Your fans will still be here.
I’d apply but we are invested in SC.
