- The U.S.-led campaign against Yemen's Houthi rebels has turned into the most intense running sea battle the U.S. navy has faced since World War II.
That's what its leaders and experts have told The Associated Press, whose journalists visited U.S. ships off Yemen in recent days. #yemen #houthi #usnavy #unitedstates #news

They have to hype it up, because the pride of American imperialism is our Navy, and we're currently being humiliated by an army of teenagers with cheap drones and small arms
They send a $10K drone and we respond back with a $2million missile? Do the math!

For anyone curious, the ongoing situation in the Red Sea has had more naval casualties on both sides than any other naval skirmish since WWII. That's what they're referring to.
The only real naval battles that have taken place since WWII were skirmishes as a result of the Falklands War, and the Tanker War. The first of which did not involve the US, and the second of which did not result in more US casualties than the ongoing conflict.
What about the US Navy's involvement in Vietnam? That must have had more casualties than this.
The Americans could not even beat a bunch of farmers and goat herders in Afghanistan. What makes you think that they are a match against the Houthis who are better armed and trained than the Taliban? The US military was always pathetic at battle, and always had to resort to mass aerial bombings to gain the upper hand.

Not much of a report but apparently the AP has forgotten what the Navy was doing in the Arabian gulf in the 80's.
What have they been doing exactly? Americans kind of arrogant and ignorant to the facts, the only reason they were in the region is because it's in Saudis interests, this conflict gives reality to the actual situation that all it takes is for 1 of the countries in the region to decide they don't want play friendly with Saudis anymore and boom a successful blockaid enforced by a country with no navy, that's also 1 of the poorest vs the 2 most advanced, and funded navies in the world, I don't quite understand what your comment meant but the US has been Saudi Royals mercenary force for the past 30+ yrs, They wanted Saddam out of Kuwait, then decided they wanted him out of the picture completely, they also wanted Kadafi gone, Al Asaad was another leader they wanted gone, The US carried out the Saudi orders, you guys need to wake up, now America may directly go to war Yemen after being deeply involved indirectly because the Saudis ordered them to from 2015 thru 2022
If we (the U.S.) weren't over there, we probably wouldn't have to fight anyone...

So imagine what blackmail they have on the higher ups at the UN. If UN sanctioned these terrorists as they did N Korea for overstepping, certified an international coalition, then the Western navies and air forces would make short work of the terrorists, while Arab led ground fources moved in on land and divided the terrorist areas into zones the UN would administer until a democratic gov't could get working. But at best, the UN would use that as an excuse to create a new Palestinian problem their execs could skim billions from aid over the decades.

What you do not see as 99.000% fail to comprehend is the vast wealth that comes with tax-free oil after a sovereign nation has gone into Anarchy and the government can no longer control the oil and its distribution. There is no other motive.
