Mark , I watched enough of this video to note that you see something different than others who are born again see....I watch many quartets sing ( Daily ) , and every one of them has a group owner , who usually is the one who does the announcing of the song or songs they will sing , as well as which member will do what featured performance . And they all cut-up , to break the monotony , this is their 16 hour a day job . If they all just stood up there like statues , with maybe a plastic smile pasted on their faces , they would not be listened to for long . Their chief goal is to minister the word through song to as many as they can possibly bless . I laud these holy men from every quartet , and pray a double portion of anointing upon them all. ....The Glory Of The Lord Shall Prevail....
*"Their chief goal is to minister the word through song...."* Has anybody ever been saved from a southern gospel concert, GREMBAR? I seriously doubt it.
Garry was from the same small town in Missouri that I was raised in, he had a quartet called The Praisemen. I stumbled on this and it is truly a blessing.
I'm glad their is a video preservation of these concerts, but theres nothing like being in the audience. Im thankful for all of the concerts I was able to attend in the 80's while living in central Florida.
@guitaristssweetheart I wonder how The Kingsmen that did Louie Louie got away with using the same name? In any case , I went on UA-cam and watched The Louie Louie group and they are definitely a different group. I like these guys messages better. Anyway the point of my first post was at Deke who made a rather rude comment. Even though I was wrong in thinking they were the same group.
No, they were two entirely distinct groups. For a time the Kingsmen Quartet had to cease using the Kingsmen name because of a legal battle between them and the secular rock group from the 50's. The Kingsmen Quartet has never been a secular group!
I'm sorry Phillip but you are misinformed. There was never a legal battle between The Kingsmen Quartet and the "Louie Louie" Kingsmen." Their official name has always been The Kingsmen "Quartet." The "Louie Louie" Kingsmen was involved in a legal battle in the mid 60's over the use of the Kingsmen name, but it wasn't with the Kingsmen Quartet it was with their former lead singer Jack Ely (the one who sang lead on Louie Louie). He quit the group and formed his own group and was performing as The Kingsmen. The results of the settlement was Ely had to stop using the Kingsmen name and The Kingsmen had to include "Lead vocal by Jack Ely" below the Title of all future releases of Louie Louie. The only time the group had to cease using the Kingsmen name was from 2001-2004. After owner Eldridge Fox passed away, The Kingsmen Quartet name was sold to Charles Burke and became inactive. Since the group was no longer able to use the name they became The Carolina Boys. In 2004 Ray Reese was able to attain The Kingsmen Quartet name from Charles Burke and begin performing as The Kingsmen Quartet again. Ray Reese is now the groups Owner. In a side note there is a completely different group now using The Carolina Boys name.
Southern gospel singers are some strange people. They all seem like used car salesmen. And what’s that weird crap the pianist is doing with his feet? Looks ridiculous
Well as far as the attire goes, it’s important to remember this was the 1980’s. I’m sure this is what was considered very nice at the time. As far as the pianist’s movements, Anthony Burger always got very into the music and that’s just his individual way of showing it.
I was fortunate enough to see him with the Kingsmen a few times in Tulsa at Oral Roberts Univ. Also saw the Kingsmen in Ft. Smith once. Incredible talent.

I always called the Kingsmen from that era a real "train wreck" (in love). You never knew what they were going to throw at you, but my heart, they were so talented and loved the Lord. That was a golden time!!!!
Jim Hamil never disappointed and neither did the Kingsmen power talent and truth properly blended with 4 part harmony and a heaping portion of fun on the side
I love these guys. There's no better harmony out there...nor has there ever been any group that can surpass the Kingsmen in the harmony. The Beach Boys, the Beatles, the old doo-wop groups included. And this is coming from a non-Christian in religious terms.
My brother was friends with Anthony,We had huge concerts on Saturday night in Indianapolis,Heavenbound,Hinsons,Kingsman Cathedrals, sometimes all these@ same time,Sure miss those days and Anthony,he had a great sense of humor😇,RIP Anthony&Jim Hamill&Gospel music people no longer fear the Lord.
Jim Hamill was such a strong personality in that quartet. That's a least the second time I've seen the Kingsmen introduced as "Jim Hamill"! Loved that man!
ApplesofGoldcrft Ed Crawford is the best baritone singer and the best looking man in the whole group and to bad he not with them any more !!!!! Leona l Logan in louisine
These are some special men. My dad played the drums for them for 2 years and they all became family. I listen to them every night before I go to sleep. RIP Jim, Anthony, you will be missed.
I really don’t know what songs grab my attention anymore. None of the gospel songs I knew seem to really express truth. Even listening to this old favorite I wonder why believers haven’t stuck to scriptural truths like putting doctrine to music. The gospel music industry gets people emotionally attached to silly notions of religious ideas and if they never hear truth they never learn to differentiate between truth and religious sympathy. It makes me sad to think of family members or friends who have boat loads of religious sympathy for fantasy and are so bound by esprit decors for a denomination or tradition that they are blind to any real truth and reject the real Holy Spirit baptism.
Praise God for blessing us with them back then and NOW!!! The Song "Stand Up" describes today's political correctness perfect! Praise God let's stand up it's about time to go Home!
Love that singing and music! Love what that b ig man said about his trip to Washington: what a good testimony!! They did not compromise for anyone! "Don't say anything that will upset the Congressmen or senators!" "They bin sayin' a lotta things for a long time that upset me, so now I figure I can give a little back!" ha ha.
Anthony was really good pianist. Since he left this world we have a gap among the great pianist today. He is now playing in haven. Thanks Anthony for your legacy.
What a wonderful talent Anthony had i have never heard a better piano player ever. The man was a genius 👏 🙌

Anthony Burger is the best Gospel Piano player I have ever heard. God bless the group

This was gospel music at its best. Love the Kingsmen.

Awesome Gospel Quartet
I love Jim Hamil loves to talk about His Lord as much as he lives to sing.
I love their voices and also their fun with each other.
Thank you Jesus 🙏
😊😊love ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤love This praise GOD 🙏💕💕
Used to go to Gospel Sings with my Dear Mother. Anytime the Kingsman was close by we would go and enjoy Great singing.
I'm glad their is a video preservation of these concerts, but theres nothing like being in the audience. Im thankful for all of the concerts I was able to attend in the 80's while living in central Florida.
Wow, didn't know Arthur Rice (Kingdom Heirs Lead Singer) was with The Kingsmen!
This was the Kingsmen at their very best. The golden years of the Kingsmen.
What a great video!!!
They're great we don't have much of rhis any more we need more of this , not the garbage we have now
Awesome.

Big Jim Hamill was second only to Porter Wagoner in showmanship. He could work a room.
Qq

There was a legal battle over that very issue some years ago. So, technically this group is called The Kingsmen Quartet.

@@jsw113 yes sir that's how it all went down
Good old white evangelical boys.
Looking at the audience, I know what “50 Shades of Grey” means now
The squeaky guy looks like a cross between Ray Combs and Pat Sajak

Now that you mentioned it, I can see it...

Tracy Mills loves the kingsmen
I will stand up. I love Jesus. He delivered me from drugs and alcohol. Jesus turned my life completely around. Praise your holy name. Jesus.
Anthony Burger, still the best piano player. May he rest in peace.
I was fortunate enough to see him with the Kingsmen a few times in Tulsa at Oral Roberts Univ. Also saw the Kingsmen in Ft. Smith once. Incredible talent.

I'm surprised Anthony's piano didn't overheat.

The Kingsmen Quartet released their 1st album in 1959! They have always sang Southern Gospel Music. They are currently owned by Ray Reese.
How old is Ray now?
