More, please, Seth! When no-one can participate in, nor attend, performances as a result of COVID-19, we miss your analyses more than ever. Many thanks from Oxford, UK!
"Getting Married Today" is literally my favorite orchestration ever. I rewind the end obsessively. The violins, into the horns, and the DRUMS at the end! It's so phenomenal. Tunick is quite simply a genius.
I listened to "I Wanna Be Where You Are" I don't know how many times and never even looked at the way you did/do until now. Thanks Seth, you rock. P.S. Now whenever I listen to it I'm obsessed with the violins!
Don't know about the Jackson 5 song, but Tears of a Clown's music track was written and produced by Hank Cosby and Stevie Wonder (only 17 at the time!).
Bassoons always have some weird lines but it's always fun. Like in "Heaven On Their Minds" from JCS during the last chorus. I have to learn the bassoon at some point.
Ha i'm so not going to be able to listen to tears of a clown the same again. Then again, that always happens from these, i can never listen to a song the same again :-)
Harp and celesta on the scale in "Losing my Mind". Exquisite.

Ha! As a child I too was obsessed with that basson part.
Well done!
Wanna Be Where You Are is my absolute favorite Jackson 5 song, and now you just gave me another reason to listen to it even more haha
This is great--and it's always so wonderful to hear the great Dorothy Collins again.
OMG I'm doing Side By Side BY Sondheim right now and get to play both of those passages in my piano part!!! LOVE IT!!!
Holy shit. Not only are they tonguing, but they're single-tonguing. I certainly can't single-tongue that fast.

I would love it if you deconstructed some Alice Ripley, my favorite broadway diva, after all it is my birthday!!!!

HA! I can't believe I never heard Crazy Bassoon in Tears of a Clown.
And now I can't un-hear it.

Seth, i love you but when Mike is singing it's hard to focus on anything else!
It's actually pronounced "harp see chord"
