I'm actually here because a friend shared this song with me today. I've been absolutely hooked since 10 seconds in on my first go and have listened to it for hours on end since
The little girl who blows out the candle once the electricity goes on is such an effective and sad image. Gorgeous, melancholic and terrifying song, bravo!
Oh my god. Not only is this song so goddamn catchy, but lyrically???? This song is SO STRONG!!!! The double meaning of the word “spirits” in that bridge especially is so compelling!!! Absolutely wonderful stuff here :)
Just discovered Dirt Poor Robins a week or so ago and I am blown away at how they can take cleverly and intellectually crafted lyrics and then turn them into absolute bangers. Those bridges...oh man.
Yes. It’s used how English people use the phrase “nice to meet you” for sure. But it actually goes much further than that. The meaning of the world is closer to the English word “enchanted”. The “chanté” in French means “harmonious sounds with your voice” as in singing. When I hear the phrase as a greeting, I am hearing “I am taken by your song” or “you present an enrapturing song”.
One of your best songs ever! The beat is irresistible and the lyrics and message are extremely well crafted and thought-provoking. And the thing that makes it all come together is Kate's delivery, the way she puts her whole heart into it and breathes life into every syllable. For me this is definitely Kate's most awe-inspiring performance yet.
You’re seriously so underrated, I found this song from a Mandela Catalogue animatic and I’m just completely astounded by this song. The lyrics, the vocals, the instrumental, the music video… everything is just amazing and I love it so much skdhskdhsk
Same! I love going back to songs I find in animatics because they’re always so catchy and then it leads you into other songs by the artists! I probably would never have found many of my favourite songs without animatics lol
I wonder how many grammies a properly put together song such as this would have won if it was released by the mainstream artists right now, you know, Miley, Dua, etc...In any case, Bravo!
I found this song the day of release on Spotify and my family cannot stop listening to it. Glad I was finally able to find your youtube channel to tell y'all just how strong of singers you are! This song, Lady Hell, and Justice mean quite a bit to me. The lyrics in Lady Hell and Enchante especially. Keep up the amazing work!
this was the first song i ever listened to by this band, and its my favorite. i love the lyrics, the melody, the music video, i even sang it to my friend and she was so happy, she said it means a lot to her bcz of how underrated dirt poor robins is.
Discovered you guys like 5 weeks ago and you’ve become one of my absolute favorites, I just wanted to thank you for these songs, music can be so powerful, and this is… is pretty damn awesome if you ask me
There is something about the bridge of this song that viscerally hits my emotions like few other songs do, bringing me to tears almost every time I listen to this song. Thank you so very much for creating this!
It doesn’t make sense how DPR is this underrated. I’ve been listening to this song non-stop for about a month now. The first time I’ve heard “Enchanté” was last summer, during a family road-trip. A playlist consisting of random songs that was recommended played on the car radio. This song appeared, and the beginning had me hooked. Then my dad, the driver, switched songs, leaving me in disappointment. How could they not like this song?? I’ve seen the other comments saying the same thing lol. Anyways, I forgot about Enchanté until I remembered it last month. I’m glad I found it again.
This song was already my current fav but after having interpreted the lyrics I love it even more now… as someone who is now in their early 20s I’m relating too hard 🥲 but this song SLAPS tho
As I see it, it's a scathing remark on modern society. Modernity has professed itself to have conquered mythology and religion, and instead it has simply devolved into the pursuit of lusts and other animalistic desires. Instead of uplifting humanity, it has idealized the degeneracy of it, and in so doing, 'raised hell', while insisting that you do the same.
I don't know if I'm reading into things too much, but the whole film seemed absolutely packed with visual symbolism and watching this particular part again has me thoroughly impressed with both the subtlety and boldness of certain choices. And with the song, I don't know if I should take things at face value or if I'm meant to be taking things at the deeper - occasionally kind of esoteric - level. I mean come on. Secrets? Fig leaves? Raising the dead? Stars were saintly? This, Great Vacation, and Babylon really get me thinkin'.
So far my favorite of the new songs! Been on repeat for the last 2 days There is just something about the message, about the unwillingness to lose the childlike "spark" and something, that as much as id like to say i rather think with logic sometimes, id never set aside
My friends were listening to this in the car and I absolutely had to have them send it to me- What a gorgeous song with beats that slap and lyrics full of depth!
Wow! What a catchy, haunting, cheery, mystical piece this one is. Not just a great bop but actually really thoughtful, gonna be playing this one on repeat for a few weeks for sure.
My brain has irreversably connected this to the Bloodborne mythos, and now i get a little victorian cosmic horror themed slideshow in my head when i listen. The frenzy of the hunt has taken me.
When I watched this video for the first time, having no idea of what's going on in the film, I legit though that the tall guy in the glasses was trying to defeat some demons by throwing the holy bread at them. It still seems to me that there is an perverted image of the altar table in this scene, with 7 candles, bread and wine. I wonder how many Orthodox Christian fans you have, probably not so many. I'm proud to be one of them anyways :-) It's such a wonderful gift that one day I might watch a vlog of a Russian ex drug addict who spent 18 years in russian prisons for armed robbery, telling how he came to faith in prison. Then the next day listen to your great music, and watch a discussion you had with Johnathan, and still feel the same Spirit in all of it. A unity beyond you only can find in Church I think.
I love your songs, it's a lot of fun analyzing them and I find it great that there are songs like this out there that you really can have a field day analyzing! They are so unique, and from my upbringing where political strife and critiqueing modern society is the norm, it's really awesome to find something like this where I can actually seriously think about the real world through a song, rather than just fantasy. I also very much admire your acurate use of remote language to portray the ongoing decay of society. It makes it somewhat easy to get lost in the bad side though, so you just always have to remember to think of the good sometimes too (saying that almost as much for my benefit as yours or anyone elses)! Of course from there I have to reiterate that I do appreciate the acknowledgement of reality that your songs provide, whereas too many people ignore both the good and bad, and reality in general. Ps. Sorry if this is a little convoluted, I wasn't originally planning on writing that much lol

Been a fan of your music since Great Vacation. Enchanté is blowing me away with how much it has contentwise, especially lyrically. Oh, how I adore it so!
Wow. That was incredible! I absolutely love this! The song is incredibly catchy and dense, and this video is a riot! And that line "If we can't raise the dead, we're going to raise hell instead" is so fantastic! Bravo!
I've loved this song ever since it came out. But you know, over the past few months, this song's taken on a new meaning for me with the situations around animation companies using Ai to replace artist, writers, actors, and muscians. I feel like this song is more relevant than ever and hits even harder. At least to me anyhow. Expecially the line: "I miss the days when stars were saintly They sang to me in ways innately Before we enslaved the symphony To playing anthems for selling things"
I adore this song. As someone who was raised agnostic, then had a hard atheist phase, then was all about psychedelics, then became a sort of born again pagan, then had to moderate those views by accepting material reality again before I fully hit the clouds… I feel this song super hard.
God I just love the melody of this song. I'm still trying to decipher what the meaning of this song is, which only adds more to the fun. EDIT 9/5/24: AFTER A YEAR, I'VE FINALLY UNDERSTOOD WHAT IT MEANT, OML I LOVE THIS SONG
For sure. We allow people to do this for nonprofit all of the time. If you use the song and post it on UA-cam, the platform will take care of the monetization on the platform. Sends us a link on socials if you use it. We’d love to see it.
Listening to this during Pride month and these lyrics hit me so much harder than before. "If we cannot raise the dead, we're gonna raise hell instead" indeed.
Okaay this comment turned out longer than I expected it to be. The first part of the song... it reminds me of something. Now, for some background, I live in a theocratic society, so some elements may not be very familiar. I tried my best to explain. You see, looking through old photographs of my grandmothers, I noticed something. They were wearing all kinds of clothes as they wished. In fact one photograph had one of my grandmothers in a graduation outfit, she was also apparently part of a basketball team in school at the time. They leapt from panes of glasses, so unafraid. All of this was just when she was a little lass, though. As time went by, they huddled up, they held on tight. Theocracy began to rise. And thus were taken 99% of women's rights. Now my grandmothers have to cover their bodies. Now women are discouraged from education, if they were lucky enough to not be completely disallowed in the first place. I remember one of my aunts being scolded not too long ago, it was for suggesting one my grandmothers a "revealing" dress to a wedding party, parties which themselves are gender segregated. Women playing sports is seen as tabboo, because they're putting themselves out there, moving their bodies, and aren't confining themselves to these mobile prisons. Grounded men grew jealous of the angels' flight. In fact, they use that exact term. Jealousy. "Have you no jealousy? You are a man, how can you allow your sister to wear a skirt?" One of many excuses given for this atrocious invasion of lives is "Which is better? An apple with skin or one without? A wrapped candy or an unwrapped one?" They were apples to them. Pieces of candy to keep unsealed as to be offered for when a craving guest came in. (not to say butterflies should be offered the same moral consideration as a candy, but it fits the metaphor, I suppose.) Alas, as the the new laws were put in, the insidious beliefs crept in. Even the angels have been fooled to fool themselves.
Given that the only theocracies still remaining on this planet tend toward one faith, and only that one cares so much about covering women, I'm going to say it's unfair to compare Islam to the one described in this video.
You’re not the first person to ask for this. If only I could clone myself. 🤣. I’ve just never had the time to do it with everything else we have going on. It would be fun though. Maybe someday soon.
I just found about this song from a animatic of it for a fandom I'm in and god does it fit with multiple of my ocs and idk how ro feel about it Anyway, its so catchy, dpr hits onces again
When I hear this song all I can think is to interpret it as a sort of a post “god is dead” world where there’s no better thing to do than just participate in escapism and party to your hearts content.

Somos dos, pero de casualidad entendiste la letra? Tengo ganas de ponerla en la playlist de mi historia, pero las traducciones automáticas me confunden. De que trata exactamente?
How the heck u guys write these lyrics? "If we cant raise the dead" where 'dead' is obviously our playful youth, "then we gonna raise hell instead"? This is some heavy shit.
Can anyone exlapin to me the story of this song? Im at work right now and i cannot stop listenign to this majesty but unfortunately im not smart enough to understand it too well 😅

God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. Who will wipe this blood off us? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it? There has never been a greater deed; and whoever is born after us-for the sake of this deed he will belong to a higher history than all history hitherto. look it was probably a coincidence that i rewatched chidi losing it in the good place at the same time i listened to this song and wrote abt a character that really did kill some gods and had a meltdown over it, but theyre now interconnected in my mind and i feel like ive Discovered Something.
I am beyond enamored. I have never known a single DPR track to not have at least one line that absolutely throws me. I am feral over how uniquely concise your usage of language is. There is clear intent not just in the way the lyric propels itself but the etymology of turns of phrases and how incredibly condensed a single image and it’s meaning has. It’s not just the obvious research on the time periods that inspire your work, or the understanding of its vernacular as a whole, but how you take those things and make them your own. I could write a 30 page dissertation on how expertly crafted every song is because 😳😳😳 that is only the tip of the iceberg of reasons I adore your work. The philosophical intentionality that is the driving force of said language, that critiques how religion, science, greed, and morality intersect, where they challenge one another, the faults in how our own humanity is defined. The way too much of any one aspect without respect for the foils of each is the fatal flaw of everyone. And then to apply that in a historical context??? Or to isolate that era with a single touch of magical realism… and to take that aesthetic and bring it to life in such a CRISP and MASTERFUL rendering of sound… and only be two people??? Incredible. This is a truly enlightened piece of art. Fantastic work!
I've taken whole classes on magical realism but this is the best explanation of my favorite genre I have seen
When I was a little lass
The angels leapt from panes of glass
So unafraid, unafraid
And the arches knelt to pray
While the gargoyles kept away
Any demon that would scheme to steal
My childlike faith
We huddled up, we held on tight
For grounded men were jealous of
The angel's flight, angel's flight
They were butterflies to them
So they brought their boards to pin
The wings and bodies of our gods
For studying
We couldn't fight them in the end
Once we saw the heavens through
Their modern lens, modern lens
Oh how can we atone
For the secrets we were shown
Like a basilisk they fixed our spirits
Hard as stone
Alas the muses through their glasses
Drift away as only madness
Drowning in the din
Of our animal skins
Enchanté, enchanté, enchanté, enchanté
Every myth to crack its lips
Has nothing more to say
It's okay, it's okay, it's okay
If we can't raise the dead
We're gonna raise, we're gonna raise
We're gonna raise hell instead
From chagrin I've been released
Paint me in a portrait sans
The fig leaves, fig leaves
And I will not be concerned
Or ignore the things I yearn
My hunger is the rule
I cannot overturn
Alas the virtues through their glasses
Hid themselves from our madness
All we have within
Is our animal skins
Enchanté, enchanté, enchanté, enchanté
Greet your beast and let 'em streak
Into the fray
It's okay, it's okay, it's okay
If we can't raise the dead
We're gonna raise, we're gonna raise
We're gonna raise hell instead
I miss the days when stars were saintly
They sang to me in ways innately
Before we enslaved the symphony
To playing anthems for selling things
I used to wonder, wander farther
Into awe, but those days were squandered
My ghost was lost to the grownup gallows
So I find my spirit in the bottle
But, oh! That bottle
Oh that bottle, oh that bottle
Oh that bottle!
Enchanté, enchanté, enchanté, enchanté
Name the powers "meteors"
And let us go insane
It's okay, it's okay, it's okay
If we can't raise the dead
We're gonna raise, we're gonna raise
We're gonna raise hell instead
Greet your beast and let 'em streak
Into the fray
If we can't raise the dead
We're gonna raise, we're gonna raise
We're gonna raise hell instead
This song lifts my mood so much, thank you 💚
OH MY GOD YALL ALWAYS MAKE BOPS BUT THIS ONE JUST HITS HARD AS HELL
Oooh, another absolute BOP from you, incredible! You never disappoint
HOW DOES THIS NOT HAVE OVER A BILLION VIEWS
Been a fan of your music since Great Vacation. Enchanté is blowing me away with how much it has contentwise, especially lyrically. Oh, how I adore it so!
Beautiful song
Love this song's style, its just so good.
I have played this song so many times since I first heard it 30 days ago it made in into my top 10 on Spotify for 2022😂
I think I just found my new favourite song, dirt poor robins you are SO COOL
Wow. That was incredible! I absolutely love this! The song is incredibly catchy and dense, and this video is a riot! And that line "If we can't raise the dead, we're going to raise hell instead" is so fantastic! Bravo!
GODDDD THIS SLAPS!!! I LOVE THIS
This song always reminds me of Wrathia's backstory in ava's demon. Love this song.
Now I have new fav song to listen on loop ^_^
I appreciate you made this masterpiece sincerly. I DO LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!😭😭😭
I've loved this song ever since it came out. But you know, over the past few months, this song's taken on a new meaning for me with the situations around animation companies using Ai to replace artist, writers, actors, and muscians. I feel like this song is more relevant than ever and hits even harder. At least to me anyhow. Expecially the line:
"I miss the days when stars were saintly
They sang to me in ways innately
Before we enslaved the symphony
To playing anthems for selling things"
Still hooked! What have you done to me DPR?! 🏴☠
Cool
😎
Omg this is the best song yet, every is ✨WOW✨! Like this is great! Keep making work and keep going!
What was in that glass, my man trippn balls
I am proud that i was able to touch such enchante music by chance.
God, this sound is so addicting, good stuff! As always (:
I found this through Spotify shuffle play and HOW HAVE I NOT FOUND THIS SOONER, I’ve had it on loop over ten times by now
OMG the brass the strings and lyrics
U make master piece
I adore this song. As someone who was raised agnostic, then had a hard atheist phase, then was all about psychedelics, then became a sort of born again pagan, then had to moderate those views by accepting material reality again before I fully hit the clouds… I feel this song super hard.
Where WAS I WHEN THIS CAME OUT WOOOW 💕💕💕✨✨
thought it was something else staying because its fire
This song needs more regeneration, it’s underrated af 🧌‼️
* recognition
Enchanted pool, a cave with water, the water is under the earth
I'd love to know how many times I've rewatched this masterpiece. I swear it's like more than 50 and it's only been 2 months
Great song
This song has appeared in my recommendations for a while, and now I'm listening- it sounds amazing! A shame I didn't listen earlier
Cool
Hey DPR! This is my favourite song ever and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to make an animation with it? ^^
For sure. We allow people to do this for nonprofit all of the time. If you use the song and post it on UA-cam, the platform will take care of the monetization on the platform.
Sends us a link on socials if you use it. We’d love to see it.
Truly obsessed with your music and all the story behind it
Listening to this during Pride month and these lyrics hit me so much harder than before.
You are a man, how can you allow your sister to wear a skirt?"
One of many excuses given for this atrocious invasion of lives is "Which is better? An apple with skin or one without? A wrapped candy or an unwrapped one?" They were apples to them. Pieces of candy to keep unsealed as to be offered for when a craving guest came in. (not to say butterflies should be offered the same moral consideration as a candy, but it fits the metaphor, I suppose.)
Alas, as the the new laws were put in, the insidious beliefs crept in. Even the angels have been fooled to fool themselves.
Finally ! A good interpretation of the song !
Given that the only theocracies still remaining on this planet tend toward one faith, and only that one cares so much about covering women, I'm going to say it's unfair to compare Islam to the one described in this video.
CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A KARAOKE VERSION OF THIS IVE BEEN LISTENING TO IT SO MUCH AND WANT TO SING IT SOOO BAD AT KARAOKE NIGHT!!! PLEEEAAASSSEEE
You’re not the first person to ask for this. If only I could clone myself. 🤣. I’ve just never had the time to do it with everything else we have going on. It would be fun though. Maybe someday soon.
@@dirtpoorrobins if you get the chance can. You post an instrumental version of the song?????
i don't have anything intelligent to say but this song slaps HARD so I subscribed!

Anyway, its so catchy, dpr hits onces again
Was the fandom the Mandela Catalogue?
@@Eres_Nyx1154 correct lol
너무 좋아 ㅠ
Oh hey, look, it's steampunk nihilism.
You were right, I love this. Thanks!
When I hear this song all I can think is to interpret it as a sort of a post “god is dead” world where there’s no better thing to do than just participate in escapism and party to your hearts content.
youtube algorithm brought me here, you guys are super underrated. I suggest doing something with Penelope Graves.
Any sort of animation seems to get much more attention that just a image.
Welcome! We will have lyric videos for the new songs next week. 😇
"Before 100 views" gang rise up!
Ahora somos tres.
Ahora somos 4 XD
5*
This feels like it’d fit perfectly in Hazbin Hotel.
Albeit with much better lyrical poetry and prowess than the Hazbin team could ever hope to write.
Can anyone tell me what genre this is?
“Its own thing” - David S Pumpkins
Actually, it’s like electro swing without the Electro. Probably closer to Pop Ragtime.
@@dirtpoorrobins thank you :)
How the heck u guys write these lyrics? "If we cant raise the dead" where 'dead' is obviously our playful youth, "then we gonna raise hell instead"? This is some heavy shit.
❤
I wish they would team up with Brandon Yuri. I'm sure we could get an album better then what got Panic! at the Disco famous in the first place.
Lovely but would not play it in Wales as it's hanging Carmarthen bhave
I have no idea what this means 🤣
How did it get
Song of the Year?
Decade, please. Let's be realistic
@@sonnyrynsaard3567 could be!
Can anyone exlapin to me the story of this song? Im at work right now and i cannot stop listenign to this majesty but unfortunately im not smart enough to understand it too well 😅
Look up our film Queen of the Night on here. That will bring it to light. Or better yet, here is the link ua-cam.com/video/Y_1fVFNUOfs/v-deo.htmlsi=PXdUud14Ty00JwJe
Look I’m not opposed to all gods but I’m not a fan of the one from my childhood
