- Guangzhou Walking Tour (Tianhe District to Canton Tower) is a video recording of my walk in Guangzhou, China. I highly recommend using headphones to experience 3D environment sounds as I recorded with binaural microphones. Recording in June 2019.

Canton Tower Info:
The Canton Tower (Chinese: 广州塔), formally Guangzhou TV Astronomical and Sightseeing Tower (Chinese: 广州电视台天文及观光塔), is a 604 metres (1,982 ft) tall multi-purpose observation tower in the Haizhu District of the city of Guangzhou (historically known as Canton). The tower was topped out in 2009 and it became operational on 29 September 2010 for the 2010 Asian Games. The tower briefly held the title of the tallest tower in the world, replacing the CN Tower, before being surpassed by the Tokyo Skytree. It was the tallest structure in China prior to the topping out of Shanghai Tower on 3 August 2013. It is now the second tallest tower and the fourth-tallest freestanding structure in the world.

I enjoyed this tour. My wife and I lived in Guangzhou for two years, until we had to return to the USA in 2018 to care for my aging mother. I spent many hours exploring this area. I immediately recognized the Aeon Supermarket follows by the Pizza Hut and McDonalds. We miss Guangzhou and all the friendships that we developed there. I kept expecting to see myself in the background - a white haired American with a cane, a Panama hat, and a colorful shirt, but alas, we had left by the time this video was filmed.
Thanks for sharing your story David 😊 always a good feeling to hear people's experiences and memories of a place
i go to Guangzhou every year from Melbourne as my parents are from Guangzhou
Very impressive video... Love it. It feels like as though I was walking along with you.
Thank you very much for giving me a chance to explore this beautiful city through your video❤️
Glad to hear from you Raju and I'm happy you find the video of Guangzhou interesting 😊 have you visited the city before?
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV no.. Actually I'm not. This city is awesome. Hope to visit some day in future. Thank you very much
Always wanted to see that tower area 🙂 Impressive public space and architecture!
Yeah it's pretty nice from afar. I was rushing to catch my train so I didn't have time to visit the tower itself and go to the top. I heard the views are spectacular though 🤔
Hi friends. This is Alan from Discovery Walking Tours TV. I recently visited the megacity of Guangzhou and I had a real blast recording the sights and sounds. I traveled to many parts of China during the last 2 years and have personally seen the huge changes. I think there is a lot of "misinformation" about how the country is like, and I hope with these videos, people will be more well informed and will be able to see the country for what is it.
I used binaural microphones to record the environmental sounds. So if you have a pair of headphones, do use them, it will be quite an immersive experience 😀
If you notice any interesting points in the video or want to ask about something that was caught on camera, comment with a time stamp (eg 00:01) and I will be sure to check it out. I am also interested to know where you are from 😄 so drop a comment below and say hi!

Very good video! Thank you for visiting China! At the same time thank you for leaving such a wonderful video in Guangzhou!--The comment was written by a Chinese from another city :)
Thanks Bill 😄 Happy to hear this comment from you. I been visiting many parts of China (especially the major cities) for the past 5 years. I only wished I starting filming from way back. Quite a number of people do not know how day to day life is like in China. Hopefully my videos will allow everyone to see how China is like.
Great video after rain 😊
And very interesting place 😊
24:30 that's a huge tower 😳
29:40 and boats 😊 Is it sport competition?
Yeah the Canton Tower (24:30) is pretty massive. I can only imagine how the view is like at the top. Should be spectacular. Yup its likely a dragon boat racing competition or a practice session (30:50)
looks amazing, i would like to visit someday. greetings from europe.
Thanks Arktzen. Hope you will have a chance to visit someday 😊
Thanks for this Guangzhou walk 👍👍 so vibrant interesting place ; like this 😊👍👍👍

That tower is a full send

Yeah. It's a nice pleasant walk in a bustling city. Wish I could have spent more time over there.
بہت خوب صورت شہر دیکھنے ملا۔ ویڈیو گرافی قابل تعریف ہے۔ thanks🌹
Thanks for the feedback and I am glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Awesome tour of Guangzhou! How are you liking China? Are you planning to visit anywhere else here?
Have always been loving China. Awesome place with lots of vibrancy. I am done with Guangzhou and will probably visit Wuhan or Kunming in the future. I am undecided as yet. I visited Kunming before and I have friends there so it would be fun to visit. But I am also keen on exploring more of inner China. We shall see what my journey takes me 🤣
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV I used to live in Kunming! It is a really nice city. I've never been to Wuhan, but it's high on my list! I hope you continue to enjoy your time in the Middle Kingdom.
@@streetsofasia8895 Kunming has got the absolute best weather in China 🇨🇳😂 Yeah will definitely enjoy my time over here and post more in the near future 👍

Hello,Alan! I love this video so much because I have been studied in GuangZhou for threeyears and this video remains me of the great time here. I want more people to enjoy this beautiful city, and can I reprint your work to a Chinese website called bilibili? I will indicate the author and your tubing address, and I will not use this video for commer purpose.Thank you!:)
Glad that the video brought your good memories. Guangzhou is a beautiful city and I hope many more people will get to experience it. Please go ahead to share it. Hopefully more Chinese citizens will be proud of their cities and achievements 😊
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV Thank you so much😘
Rainy and cloudy day. Wonder if it is possible to record while riding on escooter especially out in the open spaces.
I once tried using the Osmo Pocket as an action camera. I rigged the camera to the bicycle and cycled. The footage was terribly bad 😂 if you want to film on an escooter, you may want to consider getting the Osmo Action and a rig to mount on your helmet. ⛑️😉
Wow, so noisy. People talk so loud. You will never find me among them. I was one of them once, never realized how much I have changed. I am now an overseas Chinese.
And this one (1 )disliked, from Taiwan?

China's tier 1 cities r honestly world class. Im a little saddened to see that the people are still rather brash and countrified when it comes to dressing.
Not like other people, Cantones people would rather spend more money on food than clothing.
looks like hk
'just another city in China' as some HK'ers say
Maybe you can add "Canton" in the title.
Thanks for the suggestion. Is the word Canton regularly used?
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV More famous than Guangzhou I think. ^^
@@krrssur475 If I head back to Canton I will be sure to film another and name it as such =D I always thought Canton was the westerners way of naming the city (eg. Peking for Beijing), so I chose to avoid it
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV Guangzhou is the preferred Chinese way of spelling
My teacher told me that China was a third world countries
Not all teachers are right 😉
