Is there a benefit to higher resolution source material when making visual FX?
Is 4k/6k/8k allow for better quality visual FX processing?
Is 2k good for faster FX?
I'm not in VFX, but as a fledgling 3D artist, you generally want anything that is going to be focused on or close to the camera to be as high resolution as possible.
There's no need to go overboard, 4K is usually more than enough if you're practicing, but there is a difference when 8K is used.
Use lower resolution mats elsewhere in order to conserve computation power
