Consumables can be activated during battle to improve your ship's characteristics or provide additional abilities for limited periods of time. However, after each use of a consumable, it's necessary to wait for some time before you can use it again while it "cools down."
What are the various consumables used for? What are the most effective ways of using them? Can their "cooldown" period be reduced? To learn the answers to these and other questions, watch the new episode of "How It Works!"

New players just use Hydro over DFAA. Its just better right now. Same goes for Spotter over Fighter. Besides that good informative video
Defensive AA: It doesn't.
There is so much more wrong, but this video came out before the CV update and much has changed since, so it is outdated and wrong in many parts.
The AA consumable is useless, starting the AA fighter when the enemy fighter enter the AA range is a waste of the consumable as they need some time to start and then they don't immediately attack, so when they start to attack the enemy planes will be long gone. Due to the short duration you fighter will be long gone before the new planes will arrive.
The damage control is not unlimited on all ships, the Russian BBs have a very limited number of them.
The most important information of the spotter plane they missed out totally and that will be the hardest part for any beginner. While the spotter is in the air not only the viewing angle changes, your aiming circle isn't following the ships movement either, so you need to adjust that manually and aim at the same time. Not aiming infront of the ship and then the distance, as the circle will stop to follow the ships movement.
There are some tips in it, but not that much more then you would get out of the description of the skills, signals, consumables and upgrades.
They should really make a new video instead on reviving the old one with slightly different text.

@@captain_loeffel defensive AA isn't useless, it's just not as good as it used to be and subpar when you're trying to defend your own ship. It's useful for protecting ships within your AA/flak range though (if you get decent RNG because planes are vulnerable to flak during a strike on an ally) but there's only a 50% increase to continuous damage so you'll shoot down a few more planes but will still be hit by a strike if it's used in self defence.
@@captain_loeffel what are you talking about , spotting plane does increase a range of battery , if you want to track them with turret , just press X as usual , the disadvantage of this consumable is also increasing shell dispersion.. Personally i saw if fire under spotting plane , i can feel the dispersion is same as tracking target .. not fully shotgun pieces when you untracking them ..
And one thing , this video is the newest update for all older videos , they re providing exact informations , there is nothing useless . If you think the DFAA is useless , check your AA stat again and DFAA again , its said increase 50% of Dot dmg and 300% of flak , its mean deal more dmg in area of effect , but enemy could also dodge the flak .. no luck all skill .
Problem is that AA are nowdays so weak in. Most of damage cames from short and medium range AA wit is max 3km so the payload of planes are hitting your ship when the AA works most. In past you can increase AA range and affect the planes aiming, but that was too hard to do damage with planes so they remove that aspekt alltogeter.
I think this is the best of this series WG has ever made - Extremely thorough - Makes people like myself not actually have to create certain help videos!
Now we need to make sure casual players actually watch this one - It WILL help players get better.
WG, this is one you should make a pop up window in port of the game for all players because this is ESSENTIAL knowledge and so many captains do not bother checking out your news site.

very helpful for beginers with one exception, AA defence for cruisers is a waist of time because it was nerf to the ground when you rework CV's
Why are map spawns so close to other team mates?
Can you make a new "How it works" for map spawning? I would like to know the WG game mechanics behind opening spawn selection before the battle starts.

I see lots of comments about defensive AA. I think it's important for people to understand that whilst it is almost useless for self defence and it certainly won't protect you when you're on your own, when you use it to protect an ally within your flak radius it has immense power: you can wipe out squadrons with ease and defend allies from strikes with the 3x flak damage. The time when anti-air is effective in WoWs is when an ally near you is being attacked, this is due to the fact that planes are weak to flak during an attack run because they need to maintain a fixed flight path to be effective. When planes are in an attack run against you they are usually not within your effective flak radius for long hence why defensive AA isn't very useful then.
P.S: I think it needed mentioning how to actually use the defensive AA consumable effectively.
Lordcrafty so after asking from a good source, they say that tactic is only effective against dive bombers (also said its situational). Here’s what they added: “cuz TBs tend to be in the attack phase (and take way less flak damage) when in AA range, and rockets are quite maneuverable/also in attack phase. Divebombers meanwhile can only initiate their attack phase when very close to the target ship, and thus are the squad most likely to cop flak.”
@@Nerdotomy yeah, they're definitely the most vulnerable to flak but if you're at the right angle from torp bombers their flight path can be in your flak zone for the entire run and continuous isn't completely ineffective in the right ship. The attack aircraft need to fly straight ahead to be effective, the most they can really do is throttle speed and they're usually paper planes anyway so get shot down fast. It certainly works best against DBs but you will still punish the other types. (from my understanding/what I've seen the torp bombers are almost invulnerable to the flak of the ship you are attacking but not to ally ships. If there is enough flak/AA they will get shredded)

I would love to hear what are each visible parts from the deck of the ship, like each antennas, each hole, so many details are there, but don't know for what they were for. I hope the community thinks the same.

I feel more safe when I use my Repair Consumables while im being Spammed by HE, but why do I feel like im extremely wrong from what im doing...
It depends heavily upon the situation; what ship are you in, health, who's shooting at you, are you about to go behind an island, etc. In general you do not want to repair a single fire or flood. If only one ship is shooting at you, repairing 2 is 'ok' but if you have the health to spare and a heal, save it for 3 fires and floods. If you are being shot by more than one ship- do everything you can to disengage-go dark. Save the damage control until your dark or else you will take alot more damage.

Please rework the carrier consumables. I don't want to auto launch fighters just when being detected and dam con, as you said, not when only one fire is cast aboard my flight deck.

is there any use to increase the duration of your defensive aa fire? i mean Aircrafts dont stay that long and instead like to recall the aircraft and come back with another squadron, at this time your defensive aa fire would be on cooldown eitherway.

Kinda sucks how in console version the spotter plane doesn't change the camera angle when aiming /: it just increases shell groupings

you forgotten about something important in TRB, when you activate the consumable and suddenly your torpedo launcher get incapacitated before the reload section TRB. the timer to launch torpedo will be reset

One thing they forgot to make clear:
DO NOT pop your hydro at the start of the match (i.e. in your own spawn) - its a complete waist of a consumable. So many players pop it as they start the game, when there is no threat. Wait until ships are spotted, close by or when there is reason to expect torps or an ambush - I.E. If your taking a cap as a dd, or when your spotted by an undetected ship while playing a BB or CA (run priority target to ascertain this)

Sometimes accidentaly press that or fighter con in heated brawl because I remap the button WASD to IJKL. Awkward hand position
I hate spotting aircraft since the aiming at ships moving in a diagonal becomes tough so i use it to expose hidden dds at close ranges as their AA tries to shoot down my planes

Why people complain so much about AA? They do what they are supposed to do, kill planes, is always the same, player break formation and go alone, we attack him, he use AA buff, we lose almost all the planes and manage to do one strike, he dies and complain "CV op" "AA useless" and etc instead of playing clever and stay close to others for AA support. The idea is that if we attack the AA ship we don't have anything left to do a chain attack.

You only lose entire squads if you eat too much flak, which is easy to dodge and flak is just a deterrent for bad CV players. The only AA stat that matters is the continuous AA dmg but even then most of the time it doesn’t prevent the CV player to do his drop. The fact that they can get a proper drop (ie a full attack squadron) out is the problem. Also being with allies sometimes just doesn’t help at all
@@Nerdotomy The flak is just ridiculous impossible to avoid after the attack, it just spam in your face and there it goes all your planes, so when we attack we make it count, one thing is attacking clueless players, but when they are on AA formation is really hard, but they ask for more nerf to CV instead .-.
Darío Ezequiel Garay not really? Every time I’ve played CV and finished my drop I’m already making my turn (either with boost or not) and cause I’m making a curved path and not a straight one the flak Guns reload and fire in the of my planes (but it doesn’t work cause I’m on my curve)
Repair party should be used when you have 2 or more fires or when you have 1 or more floodings ( 1 flooding = 2 fires)

DefAA was never meant to be able to kill all planes before they can strike but to make the cv have a choice between striking you and loosing a lot of planes or just going for another target (tho ngl i wish it would increase the range of aa that would be a nice touch)
as a CV player . will analize the Ships in the enemy ( At the battle start). work out who is venerable and who to avoid . then will scout out for the team and noticing where all the targets are . Attacking the lonely ships first . ( Usually the DD's ) and keep on at the lone ships and still spot for the team . so the answer is simple . Don't go alone , Bring a buddy , use you AA direction well and Deff AA at the right time . A player who dose this will knock out the majority of the attacking planes , I know it does not Feel Like you are doing stuff to the enemy planes . . but you are if you do it properly . Deff AA and AA in general does not need buffing . . . it is fine when you use it properly and you have a buddy with you to increase the total efficiency of your AA .
and if every one does this us CV players will be useless and just scouts . . . . . . . . Hmmm perhaps not many people will read this . . . Fare Seas Captains . ⚓😎

Looking for a realistic naval game. Sadly this looks like an arcade shooter. Probably a better business model than going hardcore though so it’s understandable.
Not really possible to have a realistic one. You'd need hundreds of players to operate a single battleship. Or at least 30-50 if you'd only want to play as officers (with a RNG deciding if your men even complate your orders), most of whom would need higher maths education.
