I came on here looking to see if this was a Judo club for UCF students because my son is applying here and does Judo. I didn't expect it to be a video about a Judo program for ASD adolescents. Coincidentally, my son is on the spectrum and discovered Judo and Jiu-Jitsu 2 1/2 years ago and it has been amazing for him. His sensory issues are significantly reduced (because of the constant sensory feedback during class), he is more grounded, needs to stim less, and has apparent and increased self-confidence and overall energy. He wants to continue at UCF but if they don't have it there for UCF students he will just continue at the gym where he goes now. His cousin took him to a trial Jiu-jitsu class initially and his response was immediate and so we signed him up for semi-private lessons with my partner, and then into the general adult classes at age 16. Every kid on the spectrum ought to have this opportunity. A national champion in Jiu-Jitsu is on the spectrum and his name is Mikey Mussemecci. Not sure I spelled that correctly. His sister, I believe, also is ASD, and is also a champion in Jiu-Jitsu. They're from South Florida.
