Hey Mike, thanks for brining us along. I’m thinking about getting an ATAS for the 4Runner. It would make POTA much easier this winter in my part of the country :). I was shoveling snow for the last winter Support Your Parks weekend here in WV.
I support that decision. I just picked up an ATAS myself. I really like it.

Hey Mike, this was a fantastic video of the Belton hamfest. You couldn’t ask for a more beautiful day and then all the tailgaters look fantastic. All different kinds of radio. I hope you did really well on your battery boxes just from the videos they look pretty awesome. Hopefully this fall I can make it to the Belton hamfest. It's been a while since I've been to a hamfest.
When I drive to the hill country, I normally stop at Coopers BBQ in Junction. To me, its pretty close to the best BBQ.
Man I was just put in hill country last weekend too. Forget the town but we stopped at some place that supposedly had some of the best burgers in the state. I wasn’t very impressed but it was busy as all get out so they’re doing something right.
Wow! We were setup by 0730 and gone by 1300. Sure would be fun to hit an event like Belton!
Shoot, this wasn't even the actual event. Just the tailgating that goes on the day before! I think the actual show is from like 7am - 2pm ish on Saturday. Not 100%

I hope this hamfest was more handicap and disability friendly then Shelby Hamfest was i had to walk over two times as far as in the past they have no more parking in side the gate no more,this is very hard for us disability people,have been going to it over 50 years i guest the old is getting pushed out now,thanks for the video 73`s

Prob not. To be honest I’m a little disappointed Texas didn’t just swap my car for a truck when I crossed the border. Still a little bitter about that lol.

I just can not get excited about ham fest. If I don't know the person I do not want to buy it. Most of that stuff just looks like junk to me, but it's my ignorance in older stuff that steers me to that thought.
With all due respect, there is only one place for BBQ. Kansas City, Mo.
Oh boy, thems are fighting words there 🤣. I have had KC BBQ and it was absolutely delicious.
@@hamradiotube I went to the Pappas BBQ in Houston and they are no slouches, let me tell you. In fact, nearly any Pappas restaurant (Pappasitos, Pappadeauxs, etc.) is a great place. I love BBQ in all varieties, but when I go to Texas I plan on going to Mi Tierra in San Antonio, Lupe Tortilla in Houston, or Pappasitos. You just can't get good Tex Mex in Alabama or Florida. So you've got one up on me!

@@dark30welderwelding11 If you're ever in Kansas City, go to 19th & Brooklyn and eat at Arthur Bryants. Unlike a lot of the "Sweet" bbq in KC, this is the old tried and true vinegar and cayenne pepper BBQ. Calvin Trillin once said it was the best restaurant in America (that may be hyperbole). If you're into the sweeter stuff, try Oklahoma Joes. But, generally speaking, most of the BBQ in KC is really good stuff. St. Louis? Not so much.
