Ive been using the Derby Premiums and havent had any problems. I have debated holders for the last year. Finally tried an Irving last week and immediately ordered my own. It has great weight and the ability to use different blade types at various heights without changing anything out.

This is the only video I can find on the internet that compares guarded razors and non guarded razor for shop use! Nobody talks about the nape razor and how it compares! In my state cosmetologists can use a guarded razor. The only videos I could find of the nape razor are ancient and don’t talk about line up or beard use. Jatai just made an insta post the other day suggesting using it for that but no real information. I wanted to get a crossover license so bad until I found out I could use a guarded razor.
I didn’t have the experience to know if they could cut just as good or not though but this video just saved me so much time. All of the answers I was looking for. I’m sure there are thousands of other cosmetologists out there who need to see this video!

I'm not a barber, just a wet shaving enthusiast..
I'm loving the shavettes..I have an IBC razor,a Kashi RB 20 razor, several razors from gravity razors (one clasp style aka Parker style, several insert styles), and I have been looking at Turkish razors lately.
The nape razor looks great, I just don't know if I'd use it on the regular to justify the proprietary blade style it uses exclusively..
    However it looks great.

What happens with Double Edge blades is like most companies, they get bought out and manufacturing changes. Then people seek high and low for the originals. BiC has multiple models manufactured all over the world. Another thing that adds to the puzzle.
For the Feather razors I suggest palm stropping before use, it helps to reduce the overly sharp feel and add comfort. For using on self you'll find a Feather blade feels much better the 2nd or 3rd shave. They last a dozen to 20 shaves as well. Doesn't mean much for a client, though.

I shave old school style with the IBC or a feather style barber razor, using either the feather pro, or the Schick proline, artist club blades.
As for DE blade recommendations, Perma-Sharp (Gold/red packaging) or Derby Premium (black/gold writing packaging). One of the most appreciated blades amongst wetshavers, seems to be the Astra Sp (white/green packaging).

I have tried a TON of DE blades. Treet Classics are the best in terms of value and initial sharpness, smoothness and consistency. But the sharpest blade out there is the Personna Hair Shaper, which I use in a Weck Sextoblade. Problem is if you are throwing them away after each customer, they are just too expensive. But for everyday home use they are better than any DE blade, sharper and MUCH longer lasting.

I find it kind of appaling how little most barbers know about blades and razors than your average wetshaver. Im not sure what a barber looks for but for me the dorco hq regular is very comfortable if you want efficient ones id go for a perma sharp or personna lab blue. If you want the sharpest than feather blades are the best. Also the shavette i ordered have alot of praise its the ibc razor that holds multiple blade types.

i have been using DERBY DOUBLE EDGE and SINGLE EDGE blades for a while and they are sharp
also they come in single edge blades and double edge blades.
1-DORCO blades don't come sharp as they use to.
2- BIC blades don't have that sharpness in the middle when it comes to doing your own beard.
3-most blades need to be put in hot water before shaving for the smooth cut.
4 My Number One Blade handle that i have been using for the past 11years is the DOVO Shavette Stainless Steel Handle.

The outliner blade says it cuts .1mm short, i was wondering if that is the same length as what the babyliss gold trimmers cut? Which is probably the shortest a trimmer can cut on the market atm from what i know.
I wanted to get the outliner bade for my detachable clippers just cos i feel like im taking too long in the balding process with my trimmers and i want to shorten that and also i dont want to further blunt my trimmers blades too much
