Thanks for the compliment! You're quite right...salt is a no go area for snails. Most groundnut cake (kuli kuli) only contain a trace amount of salt which isn't enough to harm snails. I suppose its possible some producers in Nigeria can add a lot of salt in their kuli kuli to make it more appealing to consumers. Its difficult to guard against that..I guess what I'd do is to buy the groundnut cake direct from feed mills that produce theirs specifically for animal consumption. I've personally fed my snails with feed made with groundnut cake and it didn't harm them so concentration levels matter

@@inubaye2030 you're welcome. I normally use 3 inches deep...enough for an adult jumbo snail to completely bury itself in the soil if necessary. 2 inches is also fine if you add enough mulch to provide the necessary cover and hiding place
Thank you for sharing the knowledge of the snails formulated meals for 1 and 2 formula. My question is after mixing this, do you sprinkle in water before feeding it to the snails, or you feed directly with out water.
You are great. Thanks. I prefer the second formula. It is easy to go. On question, kwulikwuli I understand has salt, will it. not be harmful to the snail? Thanks
I prefer the second formula, but for the soya bean do I need to grind both the back or I should thrash it out just like how we prepare it before human consumption. Tnx
I used sundried maize but you can also use roasted if that's what you have available to you. Just be aware that the roasting process might lead to some loss of certain heat-sensitive vitamins, such as vitamin C and thiamine (vitamin B1). In addition, the energy content of roasted maize may be slightly higher due to the concentration of nutrients as moisture is removed during the roasting process.
Vitamins/Minerals are micronutrient that also happen to be present in varying quantities in Maize, soybean and Groundnut cake E.g groundnut cake contains vitamin E, B (such as niacin and folate). It also contains anywhere from 10 to 20% of dietary fibre by weight, as well as minerals like phosphorus, iron, zinc, potassium and magnesium etc If you can get your hands on Vitamin premix from feed mills then all the better. But if you can't, you can always adjust the percentage of the rest of the feed components to compensate. You can also give your snails fruits from time to time so they get those vital minerals/vitamins
Groundnuts are whole peanuts, eaten raw, roasted, or used in cooking, retaining their natural oils and nutrients. Groundnut cake is the solid residue left after oil extraction, lower in fat but high in protein. It's used for snacks (e.g., kuli-kuli), livestock feed, or fertilizer
Good evening bro, this is a wonderful content, however the groundnut cake you measured is usually contained of salt. Pls elaborate on this as to the effect of it on snails Thanks

My snails are not eating well as they used to eat. The are fed regularly with egg shell mixed with maize, moringa, millet and potato leaves. Sometimes l give them cocoyam leaves, pawpaw leaves and fruits, and other vegetables leaves like okra, etc. The mothers have stopped laying for the past three months why?
This is the dry season. Snails priorities survival over egg laying because the relative humidity of the air around them is very low. They don't want to dry out. Its best to let them hibernate/sleep.
Moisture/condense water vapor can build up on stuff kept in the fridge. You want keep the formulated feed away from moisture so mold doesn't form on it. Somewhere it'll be exposed to dry air and well ventilation space will suffice
My question is about, AF snails survival. They lay in hundreds and hatch and they dont survive . I'ld like to know if there are special ways to take care of them.
They lay lots of eggs and their mortality is also high. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about it apart from the standard ways of taking care of snail eggs
Snails don't need salt in their food. If present at all, it should be in trace amount. Amino acid is the building block of protein which is already present in other ingredients present in the formula
Fish meal is another protein-rich option that can be used as a substitute. It contains high-quality protein and is a good source of essential amino acids.
Groundnut cake, which is a byproduct of peanut oil extraction, typically does not contain added salt during the production process. However, there may be trace amounts of naturally occurring sodium in the peanuts themselves. These natural sodium levels are generally very low and are not a threat to snails.

Is groundnut cake same as kulikuli?
After achieving the formulated feed, please what's the quantity to feed 50snails in a pen
Yeah. It''s the same as Kilikuli
How much your snails will eat vary....you have to feed them and observe how much they're able to finish so you can adjust accordingly

Grind with the back. The added fibre content helps

When it comes to things snails eat, its best to avoid chemicals. Prior to grinding just wash and dry. Once its dry, you can then grind to powder
