    PS do image adjust to the margins when you add them below a image which is already set to max margin layout? By that i mean like for instance you page 5, that right big image. say it was set to margins of the page. If caption is then added below its put in a critical position. Would be nice if image are adjusted a bit then. But i guess thats a pretty advanced feat

    Hi. you created a very interesting topic about captions. yesterday I was able to use it and it worked perfectly. today everything got messed up my captions are coming on top of the image and upside down. Any suggestions????

    Hey :) I’m wondering if you could make a video on how you display your finished designs when they are done (like in your thumbnails) for example: magazin open leaning on a wall etc. thank you :)

      I can definitely do that! Thanks for watching. :)

    how can a caption be added to anchored image?

  • @jenniferlaynemusic

    Thank you for this, fellow Canadian! I was wondering, when I need to resize the image within the paragraph with text wrapping, let's say make it smaller, it shrinks the caption as well. I can resize the image separately and then just move the caption separately to rejoin to the image, but is there a way to resize the image, keep the caption attached to the image without resizing the text in one fell swoop?

      @AngeloMontilla  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Jennifer! Make sure that you resize the content within the frame and not the frame it self. Because the caption is likely grouped with your frame, you'll resize them together - which is what you don't want to do. Instead, click on the Content Grabber (the circle when you hover over the image). This will allow you to select the content inside the frame and resize that instead.

      @@AngeloMontilla Hey Angelo, so now I can't generate captions, it's not even an option even after caption set up. I tried both ways, in the links panel and on individual pictures, but the option is now missing. It went well in the test period but now not so much. I can't find anything online that addresses this issue. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks for this tutorial! Kinda weird that list with metadata is one big chaos! Why dont they sort this alphabetically??

    • @RomboutVersluijs
      @RomboutVersluijs 3 роки тому

      Nice feature! But i think i would be nicer if we could add object style vs static. What happens when you adjust the meta-data or do we need to run it again? Same as for that issue with the text wrapping. Having an object style would take care of that.

    PS should you use baseline grid for that body text, i could help noticing its jumping all over the place. Lines are not nicely aligned :)

    Just a suggestion for those who are at beginners level. Please cover/explain all the tools one by one, it will really help the viewers to know what exactly a specific tool is used for. For example, in this video I do not know what Metadata is and how does it work, it is always better to give a short briefing about any topic before you start working on it. Hope you can understand.

      Thanks for the feedback! This is an older tutorial, but I have certainly been more aware of introducing tools and features I am showing for beginners since then. Thanks again.

    I followed your instructions exactly, but it's not working for me. When I right click on the image name in the links panel, it doesn't give me the option to generate captions. When when I click on the image and go to Object > Captions, the generate captions options are greyed out. What am I doing wrong?

    • @AngeloMontilla
      @AngeloMontilla  2 роки тому

      Hi Matthew. I have never run into the issue of the Caption options being unavailable to me. It might be worth resetting your user preferences in InDesign and seeing if that solves your problem.

      I have the same issue - just see the Caption Setup option - the other 2 options (to create static or dynamic options) are not there at all.

      @AngeloMontilla  2 роки тому

      @@henniebotha Are you on a M1 Mac by chance? If so, launch the Intel version of InDesign as there have been various issues with the Apple Silicon, which I have learned myself since moving to M1. I am sure Adobe is working out those kinks as things go along, but please try that and see if that works.
      You can launch the Intel version by going to the CC desktop app and clicking the three dot icon and choosing Open (Intel).

      @@AngeloMontilla I'm not on a Mac but I found that all I had to do, was to select multiple images - that would then give me the option to add captions. Not weird at all ;)
