My instructor said he was going to teach me about safety, and a little bit of it was covered. This really really clarified what to do and WHY. the animated diagrams and clear demos being repeated are a winning formula. Also, showing what not to do or how things can go wrong are very helpful as you've done. Excellent work 👏
Videos like this are a must watch for everybody new (and old..) to kiteboarding! One issue with the placement of the leash (back vs front vs side) is that not all harnesses have a clear and obvious strap for the leash attachment in the front. A beginner will look around the harness and just find some place to fit the leash and might not think more on it - so I think the harness manufacturers have a responsibility here as well.
I just experienced a fatigue related kite mare. I shattered my Tarsal bones in my foot and left arm on impact. Given that I am laying in hospital watching this presentation I can not stress enough how important no matter how experienced or not we are, your clear and concise teachings and reminders are. Thank you so much for reminding us of the essential safety aspects of kiting that to often as in my case can be taken for granted. Keep well mate.
Hi Diego, thanks for the feedback. At the moment I do not teach. I'm busy trying to finish every important kiteboarding tutorial - also where I live on the Cape Peninsula is not really safe for learning. The wind is unpredictable and we had 10m high waves yesterday. There are lots of great kite schools around Europe, I think there will be some on the Swiss lakes too. It can be a good idea to take lessons at your local or nearest kite spot, as that is where you will likely be heading to on a regular basis.
I set up my mind to start kite surfing (after 30 years of winsurfing) and the best moment was when I found your site. Your site is the most explicitive, easiest to follow, best pictured, nicest intonation (though it is a fantastic pronounciation - but even in written for easier follow for non English natives). Great are the additional drawings - this is the only you tube film, where I clearly undrstood wind window, and proper kite movemnts. It is also fantastic that the bar is shown as well, so we could make out how kite really react on our movements. Appreciations that most of your tutorials are available free! I can only offer it to anyone! You are simply the BEST! CONGRATULATION to KITE-SURF-COLLEGE. ZITA from Budapest/Hungary
thanks - things progressed. Last time I 'kite-surfed' was in the late 90's. Seem to remember the 'sport' involved swimming out on our backs, holding handles of PL 6m quad overhead, then 'surfing' back in. It was an onshore wind sport only... no chicken loops, no safety releases, no water launches... fly or die.
Extremely helpful to a beginner like me, thanks! I was given a harness by a friend, and the leash is attached at the back. I'll definitely be changing that!
Thank you ... best explanation I've heard yet on this topic. The production of your videos keep on getting better. Question: Does advertising pay more to a channel when people watch through the entire advertisement versus pushing the 'skip' button?

excelent videos
Glad you mentioned the importance of attaching the safety to the front of your harness when beginning. I could totally see myself making that mistake.
Reviews should never miss the safety!
