I just purchased Asics GT 1000-9 about the same time you reviewed them. Right out of the box today, 6miles, a moderate stability shoe, comfortable, fit to size, light at 9.8 oz in size 12, if any of your viewers are looking for a lightweight trainer, they will really like the shoe. Reasonably priced at $100 from Running Warehouse.
Good morning from Italy: it can't rain all the time! 😉
I’m a college student who isn’t on scholarship, so my tempo shoe is the same as my long run shoe, and as my easy run shoe 🤣
I had the same rotation for quite a few years! It was also my racing shoe.
I feel you! Same situation
Same here. Hey, you only need one good shoe to get all the jobs done, right?
Love your videos, and well organised playlists.
Workout hard and happy running in this tough period of time.
CS To thank you for the support 🙌🏼
One of the best vids ever! I'll throw the skechers go run ride 7 out there. Still one of my favs every time I use it. I'm getting to the 300 mile mark. No need to wait for a sale!
Yes GRR7 the best!
I like what you do. Covid 19 is coming, you must be an example for your community. Stay safe, stay at home. That's the only right thing to do. Take care!
QD: Not buying rn, but here's a list of deals I've found
Adidas official eBay:
Ultraboost 19 - $75 (after 30% in cart)
Adizero RC 2.0 - $47 (after 30% in cart)
Adizero Adios 4 - $48 (after 20% in cart)
Solar Drive - $42
Solar Glide - $45
(Last 2 eligible for 20% off if you hit the $50 minimum)
Reebok official eBay:
Floatride Run Fast - $66 (after 20% in cart)
Floatride Forever Energy - $46 (after 20% in cart)
JackRabbit:
Ultraboost 20 - $87
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 19 - $65
A bunch of places had Peg 36s on sale for under $60 but they're all out of stock
Yep!!!!
The "newest" shoe I recently bought was the Hoka One One Speedgoat 3, after using one pair of 1s and two pairs of 2s. I am planning to buy the Salomon S-Lab Ultra 2, and that's it. I have a lot of shoes in my rotation that I want to retire each one of them before buying new ones, and I use every pair at least for 400 km, some even until 1000km. Thanks to you, Seth, as well as the best austrian trail runner Florian Grasel, I ordered a new/old vest, the Raidlight Responsiv 18L. Greetings from Salzburg/Austria!!!
QOD: picked up ASICS NovaBlast for 25% off at Rebel Sport in AUS last week. NB FuelCell TC AUD$ 235 at Running Warehouse AUS ...that’s a steal.
QOD: just purchased Nike 4% Flyknit on the Nike App a few days ago when they had the 25% off sale. Normally $250, on sale for $186..then the 25% off sale happens. Picked them up for $140 shipped. I usually run in my Zoom Fly 3’s...and this was definitely a treat! So much lighter, the bounce was great, and it made want to dig deep and run faster!
Just ordered the Horizon through your channel. My neighbor and I love the comfort and durability of the speed 3.👍
Seth, you’ve got to let it go, buddy! Skechers is among the biggest innovators in running, and they deserve not to be saddled with the burden of old stereotypes. Stop talking about adolescent perceptions, please! As for the QD, I was in need of a pair of trail runners, so I picked up a pair of NB Summit Unknowns for $49 from RW!
I concur with the sizing of these as I found Horizon Vanish's snug with a thick sock in my size. Also, lots of flexion in the soles and was literally finding myself wanting to run on the side of the paved surface, on the dirt along side the path/road with these shoes. It's a little like running barefoot but getting great protection from rocks with the rubber sole. I feel your feet, calves, shins feel it more with these shoes, if you are Not use to super light, neutral type shoes like these. That said, be careful going long with these until your feet and legs get use to them. That being said, I don't feel I'd want to run over a half marathon with these. Back in the day I would since they are so light but with technology that is out there in shoes now, I understand why the Nike Vaporflys are the better type shoe for longer events with spring and keeping your feet and legs more protected from the abuse of fast...long running. My older fast shoes are the Asics Gel Hyper Speed 6. 5-10k's yes with my Horizon Vanish but not with-out some races with the Vaporflys as well at these shorter distances to compare. Thanks Seth for this comparison of the Sketcher line up.
Great info Seth thanks for the breakdown on all the shoes 👟
Can't believe you've been 'skechical' about Skechers being authentic running shoes 😅
I loved the Razor 3. The Speed Elite is also fantastic and light. The Hyper Burst foam is the real deal.
Just ordered the NB Beacon v2's and Hoka Rincon's this week. Pegasus 36 were feeling a little too firm for me. Excited for softer daily and long run shoes. Hope they fit my feet well. Paid ~$90 each after shipping.
Mom and Pop running stores are hurting!..please go out and support them! I know you can save a few dollars, but money isn't everything.
Too bad they never carry Skechers. :(
@@jimoconnor8597 most stores will the order them for you. Hell, our local store during these times is delivering right to your door.
@@michaelbfree2run883 Good point!!! Too bad we are on lock down and our closest stores are 50+ miles away. I do go to a small shop when we can travel. They never have a men's 8.5 to try but they always try to accommodate. I always buy a pair of socks or something.
Surprised the Razor didn't make the list
QOD: Ordered the Nike Vomero 14 directly from Nike while they had 25% and got an extra 40% with a hookup. $58 total with taxes
QOD: I was looking for a fast, light and cheap 1 mile shoe. Decided to buy the NB Zante Solas for USD 85 after retiring the Zante Pursuit from 6 months back (loved that shoe btw). Bought that at a physical NB store and it came with a free pair of NB shorts to sweeten the deal.
Remember back in the day people ran marathons in flats like NB 1400s?
Keep the playlists coming please!! I agree I remember wearing sketchers in 2004 high school years. I would like to try a pair now. What would you recommend for over pronating?
I just bought and received a pair of the Max Road 4 Hyperburst. Impressively light for so much cushion. Hopefully they will perform as well as they look.
Skechers seem very difficult to get hold of in the UK and I'm very curious to try some of them out.
Snagged some Pegasus 36's for £45 today after seeing 25% off on Nike website.
Ben Robinson Hard to get in Australia as well!
QD: not an answer to the QD, but kind of related. I am dying to check out the Salomon Sonic 3 confidence for my long runs. Would be interested on your take on those and the Balance. Love the channel Seth! Thanks for the daily inspiration!
Speed 6 has worked for 5k to half marathon for me. Speed elite I haven't raced in them yet, but I would run marathon in them after doing a few workouts in them. Just got max 4 which are great for easy or long runs
wish I would have seen this video 2 months ago as all prices have gone back to normal. would have definitely picked up a pair of Skechers Horizon Vanish.
Skechers is working on a higher stack hight carbon plate shoes! More to come soon!!
Got some Skechers GoRun Pure for $45ish recently (before the pandemic) at a local store, amazing value for money
I’m with you Seth, I can’t get my head around Sketches being a running shoe company.
I hope everyone is staying safe and positive out there! QD: We can't buy shoes in South Africa at the moment, we are in a complete lockdown. All brick & mortar stores are closed, only essential items (as prescribed by the government) and medicines are allowed to be traded right now. No deliveries from places like Amazon either. We're not even allowed to walk our dogs or jog around the block alone. If I could buy right now, I would probably be looking for an everyday road shoe like the Metaride/Pegasus or something from Saucony, also I wouldn't mind a new pair of Speedcross 5s…Seth, have you heard about anything new from Salomon for 2020?
Altra Men’s Instinct 4.5, REI Outlet, under $80. I need my toe splay and I’ve been running in these for more than 200 miles. Picked up two pairs.
Vanish ordered. Thank you sir! 😁
Why did you skip over the Razor 3? Love to hear about a Vanish - Razor 3 comparison.
QD: New Balance Fuelcell Propel for only $55 on Amazon, it’s a great no frills daily trainer with a lot of borrowed technologies from the other shoes in the fuelcell line up like the 5280 and the Rebel 👍🏼
Qd: the deals
On the Pegasus 36 are looking pretty good atm
cus 37s around the corner!
@@QronoZ713 any news on when?
@@aaronh.4050 soon idk when they look more streamlined and have a higher stack height there check out ben johnson on instagram for some pics.
Nicholas Fogale dang I’m not on insta . But those are sick that’s why I haven’t gotten the 36s. The 37s are gonna be so fresh, might need two pairs
Got the Peg 36 because it was in sale in an awesome colourway but the 37 looks so good and with react foam... Wondering if i should've waited
QOD: Price drop on Nike´s official website. Ordered the Pegasus Turbo Shield for rainy days (130 $) and the Joyride Run Flyknit (105 $) for easy days.
QOD: I bought the Nike air zoom wildhorse 5 for $74 on the official website
QD: Just bought the Adidas Solar Glide 19 on sale + 30% Spring coupon on Adidas website, making them only $75! These are my favorite daily trainers!!!
QD : Purchased the Brooks Bedlam for £75 ($92). Also spotted that the NB Zante Pursuit is now £55 ($67) - very tempting
I just only have one pair of shoes I used it in easy, tempo and long run
Found the Horizon Vanish at Walmart online for the $80 price.
Are they good for a sketchers , or better than the competition? Are you buying these over Nike , nb, hoka?
Just picked up a pair of Adidas Boston 8's from RW for $56! They are having some big price drops on Adidas, Nike, and NB also
I’d love to hear your stance on the HOKA EVO Jawz
Love my sketchers btw. Gorun 8s are definitely worth the price
I bought the Nike Peg Turbo 2 on sale a couple of weeks ago. Still getting used to them because the feel is so different (less plush) than NB or Hoka.
Rincon Hoka Hoka one ...
Seth, between the horizon vanish and nb fuelcell rebel which has more cushion or protection from the road?
It is a shame that running warehouse does different prices in the u.s. and european website... those prices are only available in the u.s....
Recently got the Zoom Fly 3 for $95 and the Pegasus 36 for $75 off running warehouse
I was looking forward to buying Saucony Endorphin Pro to run Ironman 70.3 Calgary and Ironman Canada.
now, I am not sure when I will be buying my next pair of running shoes.
Super good value
Dear Altra please send Seth a pair of Torin 4 and another Escalante Racer. I’ve been using Altra only because of their foot shape, all other brands for tight on the toe box.
Looking for a pair of pegasus 36 trail, want a slightly more forgiving trail shoe for longer runs on slightly harder packed trails.
thinking of 2 Skechers trl (for a road to trail) have S-lab SG for more muddy
But mostly horizon. As a minimal running these seem perfect race shoe
Suggestion for the next QOD: which road running shoes do you use on rainy days?
Just picked up Nike peg 36 trail on the RE Nike sale. Also Speedgoat 3s.
Would you run a half marathon in the GOrun Ride 8 if you were more concerned with comfort than speed?
Between the sketchers max road 4 and the ASICS novablast what would you chose and why?
QD: I just added a pair of
the Nike Peg 35 Turbos and Vaporfly 4% from Nike when they had the extra 25% off. I am lucky to have a job in the wholesale food busy so I am able to continue working.
I wasn’t buying anything, BUT if there’s sales going on... might have to pick up another set of Vanish’s, and maybe the Ride 8!
Do you have a Nike shoe rotation list?
Just picked up another pair of Adidas Boston 8's from Running Warehouse. Because SJD. Now to see if I can talk my wife into letting me get a pair of everyday trainers 😂
The Art of the negotiation
QD: Got the New Balance FuelCell Rebel and Nike Zoom Fly 3 both for 90 dollars off Running Warehouse 🤑. Not sure if Nike sale is still going on but definitely check it out.
QD: go run horizon vanish from runners warehouse.
Also Lionel Sanders if you know who he is races in the sketchers. He is a top triathlete. Racing a full marathon in the sketchers carbon fiber plate
Just ordered Nike Pegasus 36 trail for aud $119 which is $72 usd. Read that again. It's accurate.
The Sketchers website has 30% off and free shipping using FAMILY30 as a code.
1:15 I agree! I hear "sketchers", and I think of comfort shoes for the elderly. I can't believe they didn't rebrand the running shoes when they started producing real running shoes. But, Sketcher is a very well run company, and I'd leave it to the company to chart its future. What do I know? Right?
When I hear skechers, I think of those light-up shoes I had when I was like five, haha.
Have u tried any topo shoes?
Reebok has a sale going on where you get 30% off regular priced shoes and 50% off already on sale shoes. Use code FAM
How many miles makes it an easy day, tempo day, race day etc.. thank you ! Keep up the great content..
An easy day is like a jog, maybe 40 minutes to an hour or so long, in-between work outs and a weekly long run, usually for active recovery and building mileage into your legs, heart and lungs, improving your base fitness .
A tempo run is a faster paced run (20-50 min. after warm-up) that challenges your body to become more efficient bio-mechanically and metabolically, improving your speed and ability to sustain it.
The long run can be 1½ to 3½ hours long and improves your strength and endurance.
Your mileage may vary based on current fitness level and other factors.
These 3 types of runs make up a typical training week in a program to prepare for a race, usually with the addition of a speed workout, which can be something like intervals of 800 meters a little slower than a sprint pace with rest between each repitition.
Like Seth was saying, each shoe has its place in what it does best.
A long run shoe will have a lot of cushion for the long haul but will impede your faster paced efforts on tempo days. A light and snappy shoe good for speed will definitely beat your legs up on a long run, etc.
Hope this helps. Enjoy your runs!
RW, Adidas Boston 9
Because you always rave about the hoka recovery slides I bought a pair in a nice pink colour 😂
Skechers is not a brand that comes to my mind when I think about running shoes but why not... Have you ever tried Under Armour running shoes by any chance?
any chance of you getting the New Balance fuelcell TC?
QoD: I had been searching for a good price on the Horizon Vanish when I saw the going for $80 on 3/25 (I believe it was). I grabbed them (and they should arrive today). I want to compare them to the Razor 3 Hyper. I'd also be interested in Seth's assessment of the Razor3 Hyper vs. the Horizon and that GoMeb.
Skechers TRL for $72 (have a code). WOW!!!! Take my money!!! Hyperburst is one of the best foams out there! Where was the Razor 3?
where can I get a code ? ;)
i'm seeing the Adidas SL20's for as low as $71 on RW very tempting
Seth: What’s the longest run you’d take the horizon on? Was confused by you saying it’s a good tempo day shoe, and then the next shoe didn’t have enough stack height to get to a half....
QD: recently ordered Saucony Guide ISO 2 for my son for $59.97 from Jackrabbit. Men’s size 8.
Just got a Vomero 14 and Pegasus 36 Trail on sales + 25% Off on Nike.com
QD: lots of brands just had their spring sale with 25% off also ebay just did 50% off reebok though I don't know whats good with that brand, I think Karhu is also clearancing some lines
I’m a huge fan of the Floatride Energy. They’re a great daily trainer akin to the Pegasus, but the Floatride foam is infinitely better than Cushlon. At $100, they’re a solid value. If you can get them for $50, jump on that!
QD: Intersport store.....pegasus 36 for 80 eur
QD: I got a HOKA ONE ONE CLIFTON6 for AUD150 from Kogan.com. RRP is AUD230 that’s AUD80 savings
QD: Nike’s got the zoom fly 3 on sale. More off in some colors than others.
Question of the day: I just got the speedgoat 3 on sale from hoka website. $114 down from $160
Just got the Speedgoat 3 as well, 80 bucks on a sports shoe site. Got lucky with my size, not so much the color, but such is life! :-)
QOD: Nike had a 25% off site wide last weekend and I bought the Infinity Reacts and a pair of the Vaporfly 4% FK
QD: Last weekend I picked up the Nike Infinity run for $58 on jackrabbit.com
Seth, I'm built bigger like a linebacker. What are some shoes for bigger guys to run in? Or what should I look for?
coolkix9 I put on some pounds at school and weighed 225 before I started running consistently. I rotated between the Nike Pegasus 35 and Saucony Kinvara, while I used the Saucony Xodus ISO for my trail/gravel canal runs. The variation in heel toe drop on my shoes from 4mm to 10mm was nice because I didn’t get too used to one or the other. I feel like it helped me stay injury free. Although they are both neutral they were a bit more stable due to being firmer than say, the Pegasus turbo which I really didn’t like.
@@alexpanagopoulos4583 thanks man. I run in the Kinvara 11's now, but find my knees hurt after sometimes. I also have the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 17's. Physically I still look like the wrestler I was, but I always disliked running. Now I enjoy it just not sure what to look for being built thicker.
I’m a big guy: 6’3” 235lbs... some great shoes for me the last year or so include Saucony Triumph 17 and Altra Torin 4 Plush for max cushion, New Balance Beacon, Nike Pegasus Turbo 2, New Balance Fuelcell Propel some great daily trainer options. Currently I’m rotating primarily the Triumph 17 and Turbo 2, which has been a great combination. Definitely research the “drop” of the shoe and when things calm down get your foot strike analyzed.
How’s the traction?
Skechers: forever the difference between "like" and "love". (Possibly the intersection between watchers of SJD and early Alicia Silverstone movies will be ... slim.)
I got my gliderides in red yesterday at 139€
I have difficulty finding a sketchers flat running shoes size 4E extra wide. Does anyone know of racing flats for 4E wide feet?
Love from 🇳🇴
Man, the one shoe from Skecher's I wanted and they don't even drop the price....bogus
Seth, do you know if running warehouse ships to Canada?
Landyn Cooke-Bithrey Yes. Canadian runner here 🙋🏻♂️.I always order from running warehouse.
@@rinolagace1298 Thank you!
I've got a question, I'm looking for a shoe to smash out some quick 5ks/10ks(as time trails and then races once this virus thing is all over) and I don't really have a shoe that is perfectly suited to that at the moment. One thing I very much do like in my shoes however is for them to lock down tight on me and I'm not sure the sketchers you describe in the video would have that connectivity I'm looking for ? Does anyone have any recommendations ? I'm also looking for something that is fairly light and will give good energy return for a little speed-work in training or racing these distances? Thanks :)
MusicStuffSome if you’re the right shoe size, Nike has the vaporfly 4% flyknit on sale. That could be a good option. There is also the next%, but that would be full price. I think that someone mentioned the Reebok floatride run fast is going for a smoking deal on the official website. The pro version is also on sale I think.
Ben Anastasoff Ah thank you for the recommendations I’ll have a look into it !
QOD: new balance beacon v2
