I can’t stop watching your videos. I love how you break it down and explain it to me in words that’s easily understandable for my non professional singer ears!!
I. Am. Thrilled!! You watched these clips and made a video on them!!! I found her comments so interesting and your explanations on them make everything so much perfect, especially for people who are learning about singing through the sources we can afford for now, like UA-cam. Thank you! 🥺
Your analysis is on point. The successful vocal artist MUST know how to assess and articulate the requirements of their technique - first in their own mind and then to anyone who inquires about it. What a lesson in performance intelligence from both her and you. Thank you.
There are several things I appreciate the heck out about the Wicked film. One, the entire 2½ hours was amazing. Two, I discovered Cynthia (and hell, i found out Jonathan Bailey can SING, I've only ever known his voice as a character in a video game, and he's phenomenal there too.) And three, it's what ultimately led me to your channel. You're a terrific presence on this platform. Keep doing what you're doing, you're awesome.
professionally trained; i can sing defying gravity down. i'm here? girl. i am white, AND i simply don't have the vocal capacity even tho i give it my best attempt in the shower lol
I literally thought I am here was multiple songs put together in a melody because the first time I heard it was on a late night show and when I learned it was one song I was blown away.
We have to consider Brenda Russell first. Her lyrics and arrangement for I'm Here is rooted in the nuances of Black Women. It must have been extremely difficult for La Chanze, Fantasia, J, Hud and Cynthia . They are literally singing the history and experience of the beauty and pain of Black Women.
would you call the change in tempo in "i'm here" a bridge or a song with in a song or something else. interesting concept on how to construct (and name) a song's components.
This is precisely why Cynthia's "I'm Here" is infinitely better than Fantasia's. I said it before. Fantasia's technical approach to that song is to sing it like a 3 minute pop/R&B song. 1 emotion throughout. For instance, the part where Celie sings "I believe I have inside of me..." is a moment of self-affirmation. The tone of the song completely changes, and so should the tone of the singer. Go listen to the difference in how cynthia and fantasia sing it. As you say, it's got different "movements" but close your eyes and listen to fantasia, all you get is mournful like she is gonna cry any second, regardless of the movement/lyrics. No dig at fantasia, she is a fantastic singer. But she completely missed the point of this song, structurally.
What scares me is men n women walking around w mousy babyhair. Shave it th off. 3x. Thsts what they do in india. Walk bald for a while and see how it blossoms. Or stay bald.
People who don’t like her have never been passionate about something and it shows! She’s a force. Loved this interpretation, thank you!
I love Cynthia so much. She is authentically herself, drawing me in and giving me joy and peace every time she opens her mouth.
