    There are dozens of sights on rebuilding high performance engines, and transmissions, so its grate that you have finely decided to drop a build video. I think this is only your second one in all the years I've watched you videos, so i hope you keep it up, i mean everybody knows how to take one apart now from all the tear down videos you have made., now teach us how to assemble one or two. or three or a lot. I'm Shure your sponsors would like for people to see you using there parts. Sonnax and Transco .That way we all know that you do use there parts. Thank you Richard .
    You should install a small gantry Crain to lift those tyranny's and save you shoulder, something small that will fit under your work area. You don't need another shoulder surgery.

    Thank you for the build, Richard. Automatics have always been a mystery to me. Watching them come apart was educational. But a build imparts so much more knowledge. Not that I think I could do it. If I lived nearby I'd drop off my 92 D350 just to see if I could get more than 3 years out of a transmission.

    I started as a parts cleaner for engine and tranny rebuilds. At first it was a bit challenging to meet the clean that my boss required. After learning those standards I moved up to assembly. It made a lot more sense then, we had very few comebacks and I know a few of the stuff I worked on is still going strong.
    The person prepping the parts is just as important as the person assembling. I even worked on a top fuel sand rail team just cleaning parts.

    19:36 It warmed my heart to see you use that speed handle as you did. It’s a rare sight to see in a YT video. Most youngin’s are so proud to have an expensive battery impact to zing those bolts down. That is “some special stuff” right there.

    Richard, the video we have been waiting for! More awesome information than my brain can comprehend in one go, but WOW. I know this is just 'assembly' at the end, and there was SO MUCH that went into the component build up, and maybe you can touch on those in the future. Again, best channel on the You Tube for this kind of content. Truly a great teacher. You explain things that even a computer geek like me can understand. :)
    Those clutch hubs...interesting story. Worked for a robotics company that developed a 6 degree of Freedom force sensing robot that put the clutch hubs into the Ford AX4N clutch packs. It was all done manually and was a MASSIVE ergonomic issue before this.
    We had another robot that took the finished clutch pack and inserted it into the housing. Why? Because the assembly line workers were slamming the pack down into the planetary and rotating it like you did until it dropped in. It would damage the hardened Planets and Sun gears when they did this. Ford was seeing trans failure inside of 15K miles because the chipped pieces would grind down those hardened planetaries or the sun gear stripping them. It was about a $40m warranty issue per year. All because the line worker wouldn't do it "right", and since...well...the employ type, they would walk off the line when told to do it right. SO...A robot came in and did the job for them. Warranty on that item IMMEDIATELY dropped off the map. Too bad that it was a bit late for that trans, I think they only got 2 years before the AX4N was replaced....mainly because of the assembly worker issue.

    Sweet transmission Richard. You always do such great work. Mind If I may give a bit of advice? Well, that is a moot question since I am going to anyway. Why not put a small swing crane either manual or electric to lift those. No one, including yourself, wants you to get hurt. Those get pretty heavy after awhile. Cheap way to save your body. I have a 2002 Trans Am with a 5.7 LS1 with 114k and a 4L60E. I have two issues, one: harsh 1-2 shift, and two: a clunk after a 3-2 downshift then step on the gas. After going back in to 3rd no more clunk. Could a rebuilt valve body with Sonnax upgrades help or is this something deeper than the valve body? I am looking for a direction to proceed, any help is appreciated.

    Richard, I have a TCI Circlematic powerglide I use for oval track racing. Is that something I can rebuild myself? Asking because a transmission shop would charge more than the cost of a new one. I'm not having any issues but I nave run well over 100 races it must need to be freshened up. It uses 1st gear just to get it moving then locked in high gear.

    • @richardteresacricheducatio3542
      @richardteresacricheducatio3542  Місяць тому

      I don’t see why not everything should be Standard powerglide parts. The only thing I would be concerned would be valve body gaskets but a lot of the companies use the original gaskets and modify them like put an extra hole somewhere through the gaskets lay gaskets on top of the original one and look and see if you could find any extra holes. through the gasket.
