They didn't call him THE HARDEST WORKING MAN IN SHOW BUSINESS for nothing! If you didn't feel entertained after a James Brown show, I don't know what to tell ya.
Before James Brown there was no true Funk and Jazz mixed with Pop together in One ! The Godfather of Soul and also the Original King of Funky Pop Jazz ! Mr .Brown would make old people get up and dance ! The Hospitals had crippled in bed get up and dance on one leg ! This Band is the Root of all Rap ,Hip hop, culture crew music ! Black and White ! No color barriers! Thank you James Brown !
James Brown is the Origin of Funk. When I listen to his music, my soul jumps out my skin and starts to dance on its on! James Brown is " Timeless ", and he will never go out of style. James Brown revolutionize music.
When you are listening James Browns Band is completely another thing .... You feel the real groove , The rhythmic line is dragging, The breaks are very precise ! The rhythm emphasizes the first and the third jumble, Choral sing from goose skin, But the most amazing thing is that you can listen to the same ref, even with only 4 notes, repeating to the infinite, and never stumbling ....
When James brought this show to chicago you couldn't hear the band that is how wild we were. He laughed half of the set and we sang the show for them. Chicago kills it.
The best soul king ever happened the history of music. He gave everything he had in every performance. Hid music and his moves like no one else. That was true soul funk music. I still enjoying his music. RIP MASTER OF SOUL. Thanks for this video
RIP King of funk! I had the pleasure of seeing James in Pittsburgh years back three times. One show i beleive at the Syria Mosque he did 2 encores and then just stayed on stage. The house lights came on and he stayed on stage killin' it. I think he came on at around 9:00, I left at 12:15 am..he was still performing..i was told the next day he performed until about 1:15 am..His 3 shows rank as most memorable of ANY shows i have ever seen. Hardest working man in show business..no lie.
I was lucky enough to see JB in 1981 when he was closer to his prime. I also saw him in 1999. In 1981 he was still doing his wild dance solos and played a keyboard solo. By 1999 his voice was still decent for most songs, but age and hard living had taken its toll. The greatest performer ever.
Agreed. It is unique blending several show business people who know how to capture parts of the audience in this venue. Loved it since Brother Brooks showed it to me above his dental practice. A good time because he could and did play all of these songs; a trombone man. Am keeping up with my comments to others.
+1 CANDICE from Augusta, Georgia. Good job, Candice. Used hangout with Candice down at the Cafe' Du Teau jazz club, on Central Avenue. A very nice and talented lady. And, her dad, Gary is a very nice cat, too. Just plain ole good people. Glad James gave her this nice spotlight.
Luis Navarro Carlos HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY CARLOS YESSS I APPRECIATE YOU ALLL LET'S GO 😙🌏🌎🌍⚠️ MAKE SURE EVERYONE ON THE COMPUTER LYING RUNNING FROM ME MAKE SURE EVERYONE CALL ME
I learned to play drums at 12 listening to James Brown 45's! I had a little AM radio and listened to WGN every night. I'm whiter than Clorox! I was the only white drummer in an all black bar for a weekend back in the 60's. I had so much fun! I learned this black funk beat, folks bought me beers and said, "dude, you got some soul in you!"
sjds51 it just goes to show you that Music is the power that brings the world TOGETHER and there is NO COLOR BARRIER we all are ONE! The First Music I discovered was Funk and Soul when I was younger in the 1970s and then came MTV in the 1980s and then I found Rock and Roll/ Pop music.... And I'm a DRUMMER Too and I Love the Drummers of James Brown! Keep the Funk Flowin brother! God Bless America!🇺🇸✌🏿️👱🏿👦🏼
James Brown was tye best of friends with Elvis Presley ..so much so that James went to Graceland many times and also spent the night at Graceland and stayed with Elvis whilst he laid in his coffin the night before Elvis' funeral.. James and Elvis .. RIP
I love the way Mr. Brown says that he came to bring the realness and (at 1:01) that he sees that technology is finally trying to catch up with him. RIP Mr. Brown. The Godfather of soul.
Yeah he went all the way to the end. I saw him in summer of 2005. He played for almost 3 hours in the blistering heat and he killed every second of it!! :-)

Without the blues, there would be no jazz. Without the soul, there would be no music. I believe in music as being one of our better global virtues in this world today as continuing peaceful acts go from culture to culture regardless of boundaries.
I was lucky enough to see Brother James at the Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford Ct. back in 81' and it was a memorable night .. for sure !!! It was like a scene out of 'The Blues Brothers' movie with the whole house dancing and yelling, singing along and running up & down the aisles. I've seen many of the greats .. but no one more electric and vibrant than 'The Godfather of Soul' himself. To think .. he's being doing this for more than 50 years .. ALL HAIL Brother James Brown, (born May 3, 1933, Barnwell, South Carolina, U.S.-died December 25, 2006, Atlanta, Georgia), American singer, songwriter, arranger, and dancer, who was one of the most important and influential entertainers in 20th-century popular music and whose remarkable achievements earned him the sobriquet “the Hardest-Working Man in Show Business.” (rip) ~
