I have the same cooler but it is green, with a lid in the big lid. Im building this, for the sun fish I use as bait. We dont use shad here. Great job, dude.
I’ve been seeing all these live bait wells, and I was wondering why people were using a cooler like you are. Great way to control the water temperature and water environment and take it with you!
Great job and great video. You gave a lot of ideas. And here in northern Cali. We halibut fish in the bay of San Francisco and use live anchovies. Now I can get live anchovies and be able to keep them alive.
JB Weld is good for fixing cracks also. I used some to seal a crack on an old toilet tank. It was sealed and ready to hold water in a couple of hours. Works good!

Excellent video, love the way u went extra, the only thing is,I would have took some aluminum angle, and went around the edges, for a splash guard....lose a lot of water without it.
I really liked this start to finish and you can see you appreciate your views. This is going to bring you some great catches and you got a spot to keep it if you land a big one! 😉
Very nice build! I’m glad you built a filter! Most folks don’t use one on their builds. One caution is 5200 is not considered aquarium safe so it can kill bait but if you let it cure a week it should be fine
I have a second pump on mine so that I can pump out and recirculate the water depending on what way the valve is turned. And I also have inner plexiglass doors so that the fish can’t jump out when lid is open
Good way to help from any splitting or cracking is to drill your hole in reverse with your drill. While it’s also cutting, it melts the plastic around it at the same time and creates a better hole.
I followed your plan to the T and it all works good. I have questions about not including an air pump. The recirculating water would provide oxygen if the ice chest is vented. But, your plan is a sealed system. Eventually you would think your fish would use up the oxygen in the water. I haven't put fish in mine yet and will wait to see if all goes well on my first trip. I plan to test O2 levels now and then. If low, I guess I will add a bubbler.
I never even thought of that. I am opening and closing so much that I guess it’s always getting air in. But that is a very valid point. If you are going to have it closed a lot then yeah that could present an issue.
Really cool build! Nice work! I would try to stay away from 5200 on anything that touches the inside or water moving spots as it is not considered aquarium safe and can be harmful to the bait. It’s a slight chance that any harm can come but better safe than sorry
Just thought I’d let you know next time you do that you can get toggle switches for a round hole with a waterproof boot fits on the upside your fairly cheap at your marine store
I was thinking you were going to bring the wire straight into the back of your junction box and just silicone around the box. Keep the wire protected outside from being snagged on anything.
I'll bet water sloshes out in choppy conditions. That's why they make livewells with a squar hatch on top to access bait. Then water can't slosh out. It can shlosh, but not out. This has vertical walls with no lip.
I ran everything I could in the junction box. The only thing that isn’t in the box is wiring going to the pump and going to the battery. I used the spray nozzle because it helps circulate the water. Shad need moving water down here.

Thank you. I'm making one for snook fishing. I plan on having in my fishing wagon. Can't wait to fill it with bait!
Great DIY. Love the addition of the LED lights. Yeww 🤙🏻

Led light was kickass
Now I wanna see it doing its job ! Cool stuff!
This was a dope video Outlaw. The how to on throwing the bait net was legit too. 👊👊👊
Nice work bro got me interested need to see how you drain it
Nice work

Dude that’s saweeeeeet! Nice job!
Thanks bud. I don’t really live bait but if I am gonna do it this is the way to go lol
Great Video!!! It will help me build mine! Thank you!
Glad to hear it!
Good video brother!! 🇺🇸😎🇺🇸

This is awesome 👌 LOVE this kinda shit. Keep Crushing it Outlaw.. I love my Makita too!

Good point. I have been using aquarium filter media since this video.
@@OMFishingUSA I’m glad it worked out. Really nice video!

I put a Y valve with cutoffs so I can pump it out. 👍

Great job!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks 🍺

Honestly I don’t lose bait but I could see how a bubbler could help for sure.
yup yup
Just use pop rivets to hold elect box in place sure it would work!snooky
You don't really need the mesh screen on the intake since you are using filter material.
Eh it’s just for good measure

True but the hook and fish pose a big threat of harm to the bait lol
@@jbulls97able but you want the bait to live until the hook and fish 😂

Good point. I don’t live bait much. I am 99.95% artificial but I do use it for peacocks sometimes.
If you do a UV light it will help prevent mold
Fire.

Why didnt you drill the led wire through the cooler and into the grey/ junction box ?
I did. Maybe it wasn’t in the video. Yeah the pump is on a switch and the led is on a separate switch.
How many shad can fit 8n this cooler when done or flathead bait can fit in this
I normally keep it to about 3 dozen shad. I don’t do flathead down here.
so do you still have to fill it yourself?
Yeah fill it with hose water add a cup of natural salt (water softener) then add 10ml of stress coat and 10ml of ammonia blocker
How about adding a 20 minute recirc timer between battery n pump so it doesnt drain battery complety.!otherwise i like it.snooky pa.
You can / could. I use a stand alone battery for it. No issues. Runs all day
I'll bet water sloshes out in choppy conditions. That's why they make livewells with a squar hatch on top to access bait. Then water can't slosh out. It can shlosh, but not out. This has vertical walls with no lip.
Yeah but you just don't fill it all the way. If you lose a little water no biggie. I have never lost much.
Why not run 100% of wiring through the junction box. , Nice build , i made my own aerator out of 1/2" pvc and drill holes. I made it full length.
I ran everything I could in the junction box. The only thing that isn’t in the box is wiring going to the pump and going to the battery. I used the spray nozzle because it helps circulate the water. Shad need moving water down here.
no overflow Drain .
Doesn’t need one. It’s conditioned water that is cycled and filtered. Shad last all day in this tank.
Thank you that was cool video
Awesome! I’m going to give it a try … I like hillbilly shit
Wire nuts lord help!
Hahahahaaa
I'm redneck to good job on it I'm going to make one
You kinda sound like rustycage
This guy is really doing the most. This build is foolish. You don't need all of this. They make solar powered and battery powered bubblers...
Yeah run that on a live well tank with 4 dozen shad there guy. You’ll kill most of them if not all of them.
Bubblers do nothing to recycle and filter water… and basicly fish poop and throw up suffocate ur bait
