That's Rudy Joffroy, their manager since they were 11, 14 and 16. The translation of the Mexican sermon is: "Brother! Salvation is something you earn! Let go of your hand of resentment and awaken to a new light within you, even if your brothers try to plunge you into darkness." Dany's wail at the end is the Queens soul leaving her body.
When you have watched all the songs, check out their VLOGs 23, 25 and 26. The ladies explain the songs, but don't watch the VLOGs until you watch all the videos. Thanks for this reaction.
I agree with you, I've always felt this is the better version of Dust to Dust (as well as other songs in this concert). Fun fact, in the full length documentary of this concert, Ale actually starts Dust to Dust with a really cool intro to the intro - it's really cool. Anyway, hang on and enjoy this wonderful saga - sad and tragic - but a frickin masterpiece!!
This song is the prologue of the story. The main character inviting you to hear her story. I think your just miss remembering about the sermon part. The guy is Rudy the band manager and at Teatro his part in the song is prerecorded on the backing track. This show is a bit more raw in a good way, because it serves the story better.
@SDsailor7 I agree, but it's almost essential to also listen to the studio versions of this amazing album, as you will undoubtedly discover great details that are sometimes lost in the live ones... Mainly in this album.
Thanks for the advice - I do try and notice smaller details. In this concert I did notice some guitar part layering that was probably done with something prerecorded, that were very cool (It's my understanding that Pau usually controls these via the laptop next to her, although I'm not sure if that's how it was done here).
Intro song to QOTMS. There's two personalities in the show: Pau plays The Girl and Dany plays The Queen. This song is taken during the funeral (hence Dust To Dust) of the protagonist, where the ghost of The Girl personality is telling the audience about the story they are about to witness. The male vocals at the end are Rudy Joffre, the band's manager, playing the part of the pastor speaking at the funeral.
You are beginning an essential adventure to learn more deeply about the entire environment of the TW "phenomenon". In the end you will understand why there is a "before" and an "after" of this very special gig. I greet you and thank you from México!! 🇲🇽 🤘😁✌️
The image of the girl is intended to be a composite picture of Dany, Pau, and Ale. There is a creepy, shadowy, evil creature behind the image of the girl. The marking on Dany's neck and the back of her hands reflect that aspect of the character. And so in performing the story, Dany is portraying the evil side of the Queen. Pau is portraying the good side of the character.
Keep an eye on the screens behind Pau. They help with the story. Glad you are doing Lunario because IMO this is Ale's best bass tone ever. Just something about that Spector 4 string. Chunky!!
I really wish they’d left the bass solo in the start of this song edit….. never made sense to me to cut it out. It’s a huge feature…. How many bands start a concert with a bass guitar Spanish finger style solo??
Egad! I loved the little bit of bass that was there to kick it off, but there's more? I just checked the Teatro concert and it was also just an abbreviated bass solo.
@@DadDaughtersandDrinks If you want to hear the full bass intro it was played at Foro Didi which is in their home town. Also, because of a technical problem, the Foro Didi version of Crimson Queen was very special. If you are interested, the video is on The Warning channel. This was one of the first 5 songs of theirs I heard and I immediately knew they had something going on, more than just a band with a couple good songs. It pulled me in for the long ride. I love the hypnotic middle eastern vibe, almost a gothic feel. This song, and the entire concert, makes you feel like the darkness is encroaching upon the stage. Given the subject matter the atmosphere is perfection. It’s probably already been mentioned, but it starts at the end, we’re at the funeral of the protagonist, her ghost is asking us to come in while she tells us how things can go wrong. The artwork is pretty cool throughout, done by Rudy’s sister.
Good info. Someone else mentioned the funeral (which finally explained the preaching to me), but it's good to know that the song is setting up a lookback, which I wasn't aware of (and I'm very slow to figure this stuff out)
I enjoy your reaction to this opening track from their Queen of the Murder Scene album. Great to be young with a ton of energy. Interesting possible references to KIng Crimson and Yes. I still enjoy listening to prog rock. My first concert was ELP with a full orchestra at Madison Square Garden in the summer of 1977. Yeah, I was spoiled by that. I do look forward to your first reaction to Angelina Jordan, who like The Warning is a master story teller.
ELP with full orchestra as a first concert? That's setting a pretty high bar for sure! Luckily that was still a great time for album releases and concerts (off the top of my head, that's when the Wall was released).
@@DadDaughtersandDrinks For Emerson, Lake and Palmer in 1977 it was their Works I album, where each member had a side of an album and the 4th side was the 3 together performing "Pirates" and "Fanfare for the Common Man". "The Wall" by Pink Floyd was released in 1979 and the US tour was 7 shows at the Nassau Coliseum and 7 shows in Los Angeles or maybe the Hollywood Bowl. Impossible to get tickets.
Good idea! I love this concert so much. They are more polished in the Teatro Metropólitan show, but the rawness and the acting in this show are amazing in this show. Dany embodies the Queen, and Ale's bass tone is better in this one. It's kinda rough and toothy in a way that cuts through the mix.

Not sure what you’re referring to during the Teatro Metropolitan show because the sermon was a backing track there during D2D? Crimson Queen is Dany’s song as she had been writing the song for quite some time prior to its inclusion on this album. It starts the infatuation that eventually progresses to the obsession. Keep in mind that Dany and Pau are in character for this performance. Their roles should clarify as the story progresses. There is a fair bit of “voice acting” especially in Dany’s vocals throughout expressing the emotion her character is feeling at that point in the story.
Yeah, I went back and checked my Teatro reaction, and it was just piped out over the speakers. I'm not sure what I'm thinking of, but I know at some point someone comes out and gives a small sermon. Must not be the same thing though. Thanks for the info on the next song. I didn't realize that Pau and Dany are playing specific roles, so that's really great info for me to watch out for.
Yeah, at the Teatro Metropolitan show, they ran a track of Rudy's sermon during the breakdown, but he didn't come on stage. Just an additional note; As others have noted below, Pau and Dany each sing a different aspect of the main character's personality. Dany's wail at the end of the song is the evil Queen's death thrall. I think you will be struck by Crimson Queen. Unique presentation compared to most of DPA's other music. A very raw, emotional song. Dany is starting to get into character.

This album was released in chapters of 3 songs each, Dust To Dust being the prologue to the story, so prologue plus 4 chapters, 13 songs. After you are done with chapter 1 & 2, they have VLOGs on their UA-cam channel where they talk about the songs, VLOG #23 is about chapter 1 & 2, VLOG #25 is about chapter 3 and VLOG #26 is about chapter 4, so you could react to those either after each chapter or after the concert. Lastly FYI there are songs from their first album interspersed in between the chapters of 3 songs, so if you only want to react to the album, would need to skip those, otherwise just know that those songs are not part of the story and are just there as interludes to fill enough time for an entire show, as the album is only about 50 minutes.
