- Rio out of context was a bit more difficult to make than I was expecting in all honesty. It’s a funny movie and it’s definitely a favorite from my childhood, but it didn’t have a whole lot of “out of context” moments in it. I think this video still turned out great, was just tougher than usual to make funny.

Rio is a 2011 American 3D computer-animated musical adventure comedy film produced by Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox Animation, and directed by Carlos Saldanha. The title refers to the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro,[5] where the film is set. The film features the voices of Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Leslie Mann, Rodrigo Santoro, Jemaine Clement, George Lopez, Tracy Morgan, will.i.am, and Jamie Foxx. It tells the story of Blu (Eisenberg), a domesticated male Spix's macaw who is taken to Rio de Janeiro to mate with a free-spirited female Spix's macaw, Jewel (Hathaway). The two eventually fall in love, and together they have to escape from being smuggled by Nigel (Clement), a cockatoo.

It's sad that the parrot that inspired this movie is currently critically endangered to the point that they no longer even exist in the wild
They’re actually extinct if i remember correctly
Aw, that’s a shame 😥 hopefully they’ll be able to breed them and release them back into the wild. It’s been done before, in fact it was done recently with a Mexican fish! Maybe we’ll be able to bring back these beautiful birds.

The bird movements, while cartoony, are actually very accurate in this movie, down to the way Blu desperately flaps as the door shut behind him. I love this movie.
It would have taken alot of research and reference footage of a domesticated birds
Yep you are 100% right. The movements are great! The way his chest is rising while Tulio put him in the big enclosure (before he flaps wings on the door) is so accurate !! And i know, because I have parrots since I was a child :D

fun fact about this movie some people may not know: tulio is voiced by the same voice actor in the brazilian dub of this movie! im brazilian and this was one of my favorite movies as a kid, getting this in my recomended was a big treat

He is not the only character that is played by the same voice actor.
Eva is voiced by Bebel Gilberto in both versions, The first waiter of the Restaurant is voiced by Phil Miler, The Second Waiter by Carlos Saldanha (Movie's director), Renato D'Angelo plays police officer in both as well and Jason Fricchione is the Truck's driver VA in both.

I've only been once to a churrascaria (I probably butchered that) but I find that so relatable, all the waiters were dancing around with their big meat kabobs it was hilarious, one of them was the spitting image of Barrack Obama

As a brazilian I can tell the representing part didn't go that well, a lot of brazilians got mad because of the inumerous steryotipes and cliches this movie brings. The movie is fun tho, but it could be a lot better

@@e.j5813 I think to make sure the “gringos” understood it was Brazil they put a lot of these stereotypes in their movie, like women with big butts, monkeys that steal things, carnaval and samba everywhere, everyone knows how to play football, and others. I don’t think the movie was offensive in any way, but some people failed to understand that Brazil is a lot more than just Rio. I mean, we are a country bigger than the USA, so cultures in here vary A LOT from state to state.

My dad took me to see this with my first friend ever, and later bff, when we were like 7 and it was awesome. The next year my friend Alma moved away and I never saw her again. But going to the movies to watch this is one of my childhood highlights lol.

This is one of the animated movies that are just waaay better in the Brazilian dub. (The one where it’s the most noticeable, at least In my opinion, is the emperor’s new groove)

The scene with the cereal being poured was so satisfying and all the character movements were so satisfying. It had a good plot. Everything is so memorable. Music was awesome. Best childhood movie 👏

I need to watch this movie again, it’s such a good movie! I’ve been really into birds lately, seeing so many cool bird species in it is so neat! I love how there’s a cockatoo in it, cockatoos are such cool and chaotic birds. Him being a villain is very fitting when you consider just how wild they can be. I watch cockatoo videos a lot and I know how loud they can be.
