How does your friend that has a R6 feel on the bolt, especially power wise. i ride a gsx-r 600 but im looking for a nice cruiser. i'm 5'6 so i don't want a big cruiser but i like to have some power. Love the vid, wish i had some roads like that over here !!
Hey man, I’m 5’5 and I’ve been riding my r6 since 2016 and it kills my back after an hour into a ride. The biggest reason why I got myself a bolt is cause I want to enjoy every mile on it, where on the r6 I was more focused on getting to my destination cause of how uncomfortable it gets after 40 mins to an hour of riding. It’s a big power cut from an r6 but it’s a very comfortable ride doing 85mph on the freeway. Anything past 85mph you feel the vibration. But I rather go 85mph on the bolt for 300 miles than 130mph on the r6 for 100 miles. I hope sharing my experience answers your questions. I'm 5'6 too .... on a good day :), Had my Bolt for 3 yrs now, Virago before that, ... Anyways... The Bolt has plenty of pep, 65 Hp at top end,.... ~~ 5800 rpm..... if you do the hp = torque math.... you end up with 59.3 hp at 5252 rpm .....I digress. Take one out for a spin! You will love it. As with all Yamahas, 1st gear feels kinda like Bull-low... but 2nd on thru 5th , you can get the bike going fast very quickly.Stock seat is comfy, and as you probably have a 30 or 31 inch inseam you can flat foot it easy enough, (27 inch seat height unladen). Top end on stock is ~107 mph,( 173 kph), but you probably won't ride it faster than 90 mph. Display has: odometer, trip 1 & 2 , clock, and when your fuel is low.... The low fuel indicator comes On and displays distance "Since Low detected".... About 35 miles... depending on how hard you ride. ( 51 to 61 mpg, I average 57 mpg hwy).... The Bike also has "Self cancelling turn signals".... It will turn off after you've gone about 450 feet since you activated it. That said, if you Weigh around 150 lbs set the rear shocks to lowest, Mid controls.!! You can stand up on the bike very easily at speed and maintain control...... You can't do that with foot forward controls. And the Bolt is a Blank Slate ... Mod it any way you want to make it your own. Stay Safe .... Ciao.
