  • I had all this amazing footage from the docu I made, and after posting on Reddit and getting some super helpful UA-cam advice (albeit, brutally honest and a bit savage as well), the overwhelming consensus was: WE WANTED MORE CLIMBING! So here it is fam. It's pure climber p0rn in Sardinia, Italy. I was on the fence about posting, but I think this video really nicely complements the docu/ human-centered film! And I ADORE the docu I made and stand by all my video/editing choices, but I’ve gotta say I also really love how this “pure climbing” edit came together too! Its kinda a “best of both worlds” 😍
    ...& okay okay fine I HAD to put in SOME words in to explain a little about what's happening. But I promise it's minimal and the climbing starts at 0:40 in case ur impatient 😝

    This is great, and so was the original! It's great to see climbers who are receptive to the interests of the community and also tell the story that they want to about their climbing journey. We all know that climbing is maybe 5% sending hard stuff and 95% all of the joy and heartbreak on and off the wall that leads up to it

      Thank you!! I think it nicely complements the docu! The main criticism of the film was that there wasn’t enough climbing, so I was excited to make a super climbing video to add to the Sardinia experience haha

    A climb is a storyline. There's a beginning, middle, and end and that's why it's interesting to watch

    Don't ever stop doing things that make you happy and fulfilled, Anna. The first film was beautiful, and this one is too. The editing of you and Ola in the tufa climb was amazing!

    I love both of these as complimentary films so much!! Super sick climbing, gorgeous filmography and editing, thank you for sharing! Also I'm from Poland, and my mom's name happens to be Aleksandra -- she also goes by Ola -- so Ola's stern encouragement in these videos gave me childhood flashbacks lmao

    Absolutely beautifully filmed and edited, and exciting all the way, regardless of the outcomes of various pitches. My overriding take-away here is that we Boner Bros have SO much to learn from the sorority of hardwomen climbing today - many of us are taint-deep in try-hard, but have forgotten how to play while we're at it! THANK YOU for reminding us! 🙏

    This footage was awesome...really inspiring to watch your tactics for continuing on on that first climb once you're clearly super pumped and feeling uncertain about what's ahead. Definitely a level of try-hard I aspire to be able to hit someday

    First vid was an incredibly well-made film/story. Awesome to see more climbing but you should feel proud of the original film, it’s amazingly raw and human and it captures how climbing actually feels for us mere mortals :)

    "ovaries to the wall attempt" is a pretty hilarious saying. It's just a shame that it doesn't rhyme like balls to the wall does. After some time trying to think of alternatives, I was stumped, so i turned to google. I ended up finding a 4 year old reddit thread discussing this. The top suggested alternative was: "ovaries to the rotaries". I also found out that the saying balls to the wall doesn't actually refer to testicles! Apparently it originally came from aviation and refers to balls on the throttle, so pushing the balls to the wall means going to max power.
    Also, loved the video as always!

    Honestly, I don't think this gave me more climbing than the original, but then again I loved the original. I will say that, despite knowing the outcome, I was still somehow rooting for you to finish the pitch 😅
    Hopefully you don't feel discouraged from making those types of videos. It's such a beautiful, organic sport, built and developed mostly by love and volunteer labour. I love hearing their stories, and even better when you emphasise strong female climbers such as Ola and yourself ❤

    Liked both this and the previous video. The sounds Olga makes while climbing remind me of Cédric Lachat. Check out the videos he made with Nina Caprez, if you haven't seen them yet. Great climbing and very entertaining.

  • @drstrangelove85
    @drstrangelove85 10 місяців тому +2

    Great video! Just out of interest (I really don't know): What would happen to the draw and the rope if Olga would be falling at 4:36 where the rope is in a carabiner where a sling is clipped to?

    • @AnnaHazelnutt
      @AnnaHazelnutt  10 місяців тому +3

      Yeah usually we try to avoid this because the fabric of the QuickDraw sliding past a rope causes damage. Realistically, Ola would be absolutely fine but it’s not good practice haha. I do it too on the tufas 🙈 we didn’t know the route well enough to know if the extensions would be helpful or not!

    Well done - thanks for the docu.
    I have to say I am always halfway sad seeing these tufa cave climbs ... because climbers destroy many stalactites in these magnificent caves and smear chalk everywhere. But I agree it is super fun to climb (I have been to Kalymnos a few times where you have them as well). I guess it is more up to the local administration if they want to have more untouched nature or more tourists ...

    • @adriansth
      @adriansth 10 місяців тому +1

      I sometimes think about the same as you. I just look at the caves we climb in and go, can't believe they actually allow us to climb here! I love it though, best form of climbing. And they do fall off. The tufa I'm holding in my profile picture almost killed me. Fell from another climber and broke my shoulder clean off!

      I usually wouldn't think twice about trusting a bolt! Bolts I tend to climb on aren't as rusty/loose as these ones. The canyon is quite humid and the route is older so I think that's why they were a bit sketchy.

    *it is annonying that an ancient land like Sardinia, populated by one of the oldest civilizations in Europe, has its toponyms mangled with foreign languages. Why has a place in Sardinia called "Viaje de los Locos" and not "viazzu de sos Maccos" which is sardinian language? Spanish rule ended 300 years ago in Sardinia.*

    • @eidreen
      @eidreen 10 місяців тому +1

      Because the route was put up by spanish climbers. Certain people just need to find problems in anything I guess.

    • @themeatpopsicle

      Climbers have _trust_ in their gear because they inspect the equipment and systems. Faith is belief without reason. That's what gets people killed.
