That Swatch is neither silly nor worthless down the road. It’s a pure beauty, and for many of us the gateway brand that brought us to the watch community in the first place! 😍
Well said!
Best video from this channel so far. Honest, simple, fun, and authentic
Wow, thanks for the kind words!
Really a blessing have videos like this.
buy what u like , not what others like
Say the guy with the Daytona
@@ed7384 Absolutely nothing wrong with a Daytona. It’s a beautiful watch to many people.
@@ed7384 says the guy who wouldn't know true style unless someone else told him what it was
I bought a tag carrera and constantly can relate to number 5
Very good video. Many things I knew and keep in mind. But the the idea of the Roadmap strung a cord with me. Thx for that!
Thomas, well said and you are 100% correct. Unfortunately too many people are not watch collectors but investors. All your points ring true. I buy because I want to wear a watch to enjoy it. What gets me attracted to a watch in the first place is the dial then I look at the quality and reliability of the brand. Like all trends, I can’t wait for the pendulum to swing back. In the meantime, there are fantastic brands that are available at reasonable prices like Omega, Breitling, and Breguet to name a few.
Thanks for video! I’m a collector and I’m currently shopping and you cemented some thoughts before purchasing.
For my first collection watch under $600 please recommend
I’m also wearing a 90’s clear swatch right now! The automatic francois.
Pretty cool, that you are wearing a Swatch.
Definitely and amazing video, people need to know that they collect watches because THEY like them and don’t try to chase everyone else.
Great video. I can only dream of collecting fine watches.
Thank you Thomas !!!
great video, thanks a lot: informative and entertaining!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Never get married. This single tip $$$ helps a lot.
Smart
It does but then your watches won't exactly keep you warm at night.
@@cdb5001 Any good thermal blanket will do ;)
@@juniorgallo8786 lol.
That sounds quite embittered...
How to start...have a money
Very good video! The tips helps a lot!
Glad it was helpful!
this video was a strong, upbeat, positive... and honest review of watch collecting thank you!!🙏
Thanks we are glad you liked the video!! ✌
One of the most interesting videos on this subject
Thank you!!!
Great video! Thank you for "exit strategy" advice. You should have told me earlier 😂
haha would you mind elaborating on that? 😂
I buy what i love (fifth commandment) and don't think in advance what i will do with the watch if the love stops. That's why I lost a lot of money on sales on some models. The "exit plan" Is certainly good advice in the sense that, before each purchase, you should ask yourself about the role of the new watch in the collection, as well as the possibility of its further sale.
Presentation and your voice is amazing. You are a great broadcaster.
Thank you so much 😊
Nice vlog good information. Enjoy
Thanks a lot!
In my opinion, if I want to have a watch collection, I will go against the trend, I will buy JLC Reverso, Gerald Genta, Glashutte, Chronoswiss and Bulgari Octo Finissimo, the unique watches that you do not see always on the peoples' wrists.
Noticed more than one negative “family “ comment. SAD! Been married for 50+ years, 2 kids and a 20+ watch collection including Rolex, Omega, FP Journe, Ball, VC, RGM, Kobold, Doxa and more.
Great video and advice …. For me I have a story for ever watch…..I.e. my love or reason for buying that particular watch. This is what makes it fun.
Well said!
You have suntory Toki on the shelf! I’m in!
Really great advice!!
Glad it was helpful!
I tried buying a couple of fairly expensive mechanical watches. A Sinn 856 and a Panerai, the PAM# of which I can’t recall. Neither was all that accurate. If it gains/loses 15 secs a day, that’s a couple minutes a week/few minutes a month. That’s enough to throw me way off. Sold them on eBay and bought the most normal-looking smartwatch I could find (in my case, a Withings) and while it may not have the cool factor, it stays dead-on synced with the rest of the world and that is key to me. Looks perfectly fine to boot.
Saw a Toki whiskey in the back, not a big fan of Japanese whiskey. U can try a Glenrothes 12, beautiful sherry cask scotch.
Also, great video as always!
Deconstructing it down to these basic principles seems almost to simple and common sense, but they’re overlooked more often than not.
I see the Japanese whiskey. How about adding some top shelf bourbon?
That’s actually an awesome whiskey if you keep it in the freezer the entire time. I would never drink that room temp.
Cool video
Thanks!
What’s the watch that’s on time stamp 6:42?
Hi Dennis, it’s an Allemano MAN A 1919 :)
i agree with you why wear or collect if you dont want it,dials is like a face of the soul of a watch,i dont know but there is something in watches that makes me happy, wearing or just lying as a collection or dress watch.

Thomas is a very handsome man
Just purchased a Hemel automatic, because I liked it. Go figure. Next is Hamilton Khaki with a Green dial.
Good choice!
I don’t collect watches for a collection itself in oder to have also famous pieces under it. I buy a watch what design flashes me really by watching it in reality spontaneously. When it is affordable for me, I buy it soon or a bit later.
All my watches have something special and an elegant extraordinary beauty, all eye catchers in price ranges under 8.000 €, not so popular in main streams , but showing class also to people, who have less idea of horology.
I wear watches to express my personality and don’t collect watches like worthy coins or stamps. So I ignore all recommendations from other people how to build up a collection. Even a clock flashes me at first sight extraordinary or it is not more than a nice peace, a must have or a nice to have . This is my individual relationship to my watches.
Thank you for your interesting and honest opinion! :) And thanks for watching!
Will regular wristwatches become extinct and be replaced by smart watches, or will each person remain according to his desires?
What do you think?
Smart watches XDD
Nah wristwatches are better, they always look more luxurious and they always match lot more outfits
Nah wristwatches are better, they always look more luxurious and they always match lot more outfits
Collect cheapest watches, sellers are mostly the only ones who make make a profit on the expensive ones.
Step 1. Buy watches.
Buy what you like . Never purchase fakes!
Step one: have a lot of money
Step two: don't buy a 12 slot watch box and feel the need to fill it with no money and no clue what you're doing.
You know how much that Swatch will be worth God knows how many 0s times it's value one day when McGuire pass away one day, right? No but seriously. Put that thing under glass!!!
Thanks! But I like wearing it!!
Don’t. There’s more to life than things.
Tip Number 1: Don’t have kids if you want a watch collection
Tip Number 2: If you do have kids, squirrel money away for a few years and get a good/decent watch.
Rob a bank
I kinda don't like this guy
