If you decide to put a wing on e92 you better put a wider wing or none at all, this wing is too narrow too small and doesn't fit at all with a body. Maybe something like slicer have it
Such an easy fix.... take the assembly apart. Needs Vaseline or white Lithium grease by the gears. Smooth like butter ever since. Literally a 5 min job max.
Yes, they only get suck when some sticky liquid has run out and you put them inside. It is an easy fix. I actually really like that they are hidden when you are not using them.
For anyone daily driving E90s or E60s you almost have to expect maintenance cost to be through the roof. When I first bought my M5, I was daily driving the shit out of it. The first 6-7 months of ownership I spent $$$$ on gas and maintenance. I ended up buying a i3 to daily drive. Best investment ever. Now I enjoy my M5 on the weekends take long trips and once in a blue moon drive it to work once a week. Luckily the police here in Huntington Beach are not as harsh as Newport Beach. I have headers, no cats RPI mufflers.
I said this many times before, I don't know what kinda bmw's you peeps have over there, they probably send there crap cars over to America because over here I do not know 1 m5 or m3 owner who had problems with the car.
Did your i3 insurance and monthly payment come out to be less than the gas bill was before? I will daily drive mine for a while at least but I never drive I just cruise for fun already
@Joseph C. those are common n54/n55 problems you can find all over forums. the turbo and fuel pump issues will never come back if you get aftermarket upgraded parts, the block is good for 700hp fairly reliably it's just the engines auxiliary systems that has issues. I also wouldn't hold the cracked wheel against the manufacturer since that was most likely driver error and they dont just crack on their own.
Re-routing your seatbelt through the belt hole in the seat will make your life a million times easier, it allows the seatbelt to rest on the shoulder support of the seat so you don't have to reach back for it. Look up photos of the Carrera GT interior for reference.
Dude, I have a 2013 m3. regarding the door locking when washing the car, I found out that it wont do that if you leave the key inside the car when you are washing it. It is the same with my Audi S6 and S8.
Always keep it stock. Never gets old. That’s the way I’ve maintained my e46m3 and S2k. Some people think I drive two brand new cars when both of mines are 18 yrs old. Can’t get clowned on since my cars are not “riced” out...lol
I think I know why you are getting the whine. If I recall correctly, your intake is new. And this sound is new (for you) I did some digging around in the forums and a few folks mentioned that it was a dodgy vacuum line seal where the line connects to the plenum. It could be something like that, just a thought
Original owner, 240k kms. All I have done is rod bearings and motor mounts at 160k kms. And my bearings like super clean, which I wish I never did them. But doesn’t impact me. All I be honest though, the sounds system is kinda wack and the other thing I didn’t like is the amount of understeer this car has at the limits from factory. Power button is absolutely useless unless you get your car tuned. Because the tip in, of 15% physical throttle feels like 45% of the engines output. Wheel hop, after the car get old is a bit annoying until you switch out to solid bushings as well. These are small things, this car is actually a fckn beast.
Whenever I'm washing cars I normally have the key in the same pocket as my phone, most of the time it stops locking and unlocking. The car is a beautiful investment by the way.
1) replace the cup holders. They’re cheap on eBay. And they work well. And you can do it yourself. 2) the gt4 lip is the issue lol 3) not too many issues to worry about on these, so rod bearings and throttle actuators aren’t an issue. 4) the car is slow acceleration wise. DCT will do 208 and manual will do 204 or so. But, high revving cars don’t usually make torque. 5) door handle sensitivity - yeah, that’s pretty much any car with a keyless system 6) the whining noise might be your intake. I think mine makes the same sound. Idk tho
Looking fit man, I see the work youre puttin in as of recent when it comes to working out. Loved this style of video. A good change in the normal broadcasting. Stay safe out there Spencer!
Dude I seen you on the free way a few weeks ago i was the dude that yelled out E92 is king haha . Don’t know if you recall Weird i happen to find your channel .
Rub back all the peeling on the wheel and any other door/console pieces if they look bad. Once it's removed you could never tell it was there, looks like new. It happened in my E46 and E60.
The peeling steering wheel trim was fixed in later models. The rubber coating was removed from factory. Buy the 12 + OE trim piece. They didn’t fix the peeling start stop ring however, had it painted matte black. The DCT knob will also wear and it cannot be purchased without the boot. Disagree on it being slow. It’s mid 12 second car - doesn’t hold up from dig against modern turbo M & AMGs, but we didn’t get the S65 for drag racing! DCT makes it easy to keep on boil, and mid range shifts are nutters. DCT delays in R to D isn’t a big deal, though the GTS tune fixes that. You’ve definitely had bad luck on TAs, ICV and Fuel Breather Valves. I’d add the felt undertray as a pain in the ass - skid plates should be OEM. Replaced them 3 times already. The OE brake package is sub par and the last of the M shitty brakes. The rotors can’t bare track work and the floating 1 piston caliper is prehistoric. It’s a big $ upgrade that’s now standard on all M cars.
If it was all about torque people wouldn't get the M3 when the 335i makes massive torque with a tune and other basic mods. You're paying for: a high revving engine; a fairly quick shifting DCT - especially with GTS tune; competent handling; reasonable braking despite lack of 6 piston calipers; and a comfortable car you can drive everyday. This car is epic!
Clunky gear engagement happens to many BMWs. The E90 325i with a ZF6 auto transmission back in my house, for example, is always having this problem when choosing Drive gear from Reverse or Reverse to Drive, there's always a lag. Meanwhile, the differential on the rear axle is always having a puff sound. Also, the peel-off of the steering wheel is always happening. Worst of all, sticky door handles. Last, fun fact: You actually sit higher in a M3 than in a normal 3 series.
-Maintenance wise, I am still on stock engine bay parts. I've only done oil changes. Never had a problem with it. Keep in mind my E92 M3 ZCP is a 2012 and I redline the shit out of it everyday - if that matters. I have high confidence with these cars. -I think these cars are very quick. 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. I'm light weight, so. I even beat V8 R8s in rolling/standing starts. -The DCT engaging 1st/R gears is my FUCKING FAVORITE. I love the feel when the clutch slowly engages and the RPMS go high. -Totally agree with the Lock/unlock part of washing your car. -Fold down seats, or the winter package - I had the 11 E90 328i and didn't have it. IDK why that has to be an option. -That noise, that high pitch noise. I like the noise. It's personally something I don't want to fix if their was a fix. To me it sounds sporty, aggressive and a bit high tech especially on cold starts when the engine has that clacking sound. Yes, I've had people ask if I had a charger, like a turbo or super. On top of that, I like feeling the vibrations of the engine on cold starts or low RPM acceleration.
Holy shit man. I remember you, when you had the e30 on apex arcs back in the day. I had a e30 I was building and I remember following your build. I remember you even branching out from O’gara too. Now look at you bro!!! I’m happy for you man!!!
I agree about the seating position, reminds me of what I also did not like. I have to sit up high to see corners of front while I turn right. If I sit too low, I can't see where I'm turning. Also, I did not enjoy the jerky stop and go in DCT. A combination of too many small things, that just added up to have made me sell it and glad. But the car is great driving at high speed tough and is solid, if you don't get paranoid of cops.
The worst part when washing the car and it being so sensitive is when it unlocks it my window goes down a little and water will go through and wet my interior.
Very nice Berke great video I've had 4 bmw's I'm currently building a 2008 e92 328i coupe no turbos my e90 335i lasted only 2 years until my cataylic converter went out
I don’t know if you’ve experienced a shaky steering while cruising, a slight bad alignment or worn control arms tend to make the steering shaky, I have that on my E92 and it’s annoying
Thank you so much for your videos. I am seriously looking in to buying a E92 m3 v8 as an investment car because of the huge prospect of being a future classic with prices skyrocketing in the next 10 years. I just sold my classic Subaru Impreza wax STI limited edition no. XX/200 built . After 12 years of smiles For nearly 5 times the price that I bought it for . And this is my next purchase. Again thank you for your fantastic reviews 👍
1. The steering wheel peeling.... my door handle peeled like that, and I just peeled it all the way off and it looks great... I'd recommend doing the same for the steering wheel.
That high pitch, perhaps its a rubber gasket pinching creating small vacuum leak somewhere. I remember you had your Venturi manifold + air box done, maybe its around that area. When trouble shooting noise, I sometimes purposely dampened the noise in certain area to see where the noise coming from. I don't think its a drive train noise, especially when you have no codes.
ohh wow i had no clue. I have 2020 accord sport and any time i wash the car it locks and unlocks itself. i didnt give it too much thought but now i know why lol
I feel your pain with maintenence costs, changed the actuators out and did the rod bearings when I installed my supercharger, expensive business! I've also modified the interior so all the middle of the seats are alcantara replacing the leather, which means you sit lower automatically.
The cowbell issue is an interesting one, i have a 2013 E92 m3 6 speed manual that makes the same noise and I never would have noticed it if you didn't make this. With 57k my biggest issue has been the idle control actuator, has gone out twice in 2 years.
Hey, hope you read this spencer, I had a e90 335i n55 and I had a similar noise issue coming from the front end of the car. the noise got worse the more the car heated up and the more I beat on the car. The issue ended up being the rear main seal had a leak. I would maybe suggest trying to get the car on a lift and seeing if the noise is coming from the transmission. I hope this helps you because It was a PITA to find the issue edit: I forgot to mention that the n55 motor had a recall for the rear main seal so maybe look for a similar recall for the s54. Best of luck, beautiful stance btw! my e90 had a very similar stance
The whining could be coming from the exhaust valve module behind the driver side tail light for the oem muffler, try unplugging the module and see if the noise goes away.
Alan Stewart depends what you want from a car. If you just want straight line speed it won't be worth it. If you want to experience a better drive and fun car in the corners the M3 is amazing and a rewarding drive, I love mine
The engine is designed to be revved to build power. Complaining about low end torque is completely missing the point. It isn't slow. About changing gears between reverse and neutral is just you nit picking. Would recommend retrimming the steering wheel and replacing the plastic trim.
Bro I WISH we had fuel prices like you do in the US. I live in New Zealand (Auckland) and pay around $2.40 a litre for 98 RON/93 AKI octane. That's $9.07 NZD a gallon which converts to $6.02 USD a gallon! And that is CHEAP right now. Before lockdown I was paying $2.64 a litre!! 😭😭
To me what i dont like is, front bumper just looks unfinished like some type of lip is needed, and the gauges just not enough info for a sports car like no water temp or much of anything. i know you can get it to display but it takes half a day to set it up and it goes away when you turn the car off
Take a Magic Eraser to that shiny greasy steering wheel you can remove all the oils and get it looking matte and new. Or..... Buy the M performance wheel with the shift lights.
Spencer Berke no problem just add a bit of water and go lightly it also cleans the stitching really well. I like to use a microfiber to wipe right after and get the matte look back. It will make a bit of a flaky mess so a vacuum needed to clean up.
What do you mean with 0:19 #2 "How long the car is"? It's a tiny coupe, I drive an Audi A8 D4 long wheel base as my daily and have no problems, even here in tight European cities. You're in America with huge parking spaces!
The best upgrade for this M3 is.... a second car as a daily.
I'd use it as a club car. Only to be driven on car club nights
@@crimsonhawk4912 wtf.
I daily mine as it’s fine.
Lol i daily my m3 no problem. If you want torque find another car.
I rock an e92 m3 and an e90 335 to keep the miles down on the m3. I’m in bmw nirvana until I get my x5m.
Overall its an amazing car, but that wing just doesn't look right.
Thanks! I have plans to swap it out soon.
If you decide to put a wing on e92 you better put a wider wing or none at all, this wing is too narrow too small and doesn't fit at all with a body. Maybe something like slicer have it
I wouldn’t put a wing tbh
Xavier Mondragon cool stuff!
@@SpencerBerke Car looks amazing, but the wing does take away from how clean it is.
i've had 2 e90s and never had any issue with the cup holders. replaces yours. they are like 40 bucks lol
Such an easy fix.... take the assembly apart. Needs Vaseline or white Lithium grease by the gears. Smooth like butter ever since. Literally a 5 min job max.
I used to have a e90 335i and it was a ez fix just the copper spring came off just had to put it back on and honestly love those cupholders so much
Brigham Allen or just clean it normally it sticks if you spill coffee on it
same my e90 m3 has 100k plus miles and my cup holders are perfect
Yes, they only get suck when some sticky liquid has run out and you put them inside. It is an easy fix. I actually really like that they are hidden when you are not using them.
Damnn the all black looks so sick it’s crazy
Thx bro!
@LSWL00 yes and the dark bumper and splitter
still cant get over how clean the paint is lol
Me too lol. It feels like liquid when you touch it.
Spencer Berke whats up? Repainted or paint correction or what? I’m looking to buy one of these.
Bro the cup holder is absolute fax
Hahha, right?!!?
@@SpencerBerke you can take the spring out of the cup holder mechanism, it opens way faster and does not jam as often!
gets even better when a passenger kicks their knee up and break one..
Yeah takes like 15 minutes to fix :)
@@HeikkiSaari also couldn't you dry lubricate the moving parts?

I’ve seen the “supercharger” noise before. It’s normally the water pump but it can also be the internal coupling in the alternator
Yep...you're onto it. I was thinking alternator.
yup
Brand new alternator and noise still there🤦♂️
I had similar noise on my 335d and was alternator
It’s actually the plenum all of them have a factory usurp where the gasket inside the plenum separates the part where it connects to breather hose
the cupholder has been the classic BMW E9x specialty lol

Hey, hope you read this spencer, I had a e90 335i n55 and I had a similar noise issue coming from the front end of the car. the noise got worse the more the car heated up and the more I beat on the car. The issue ended up being the rear main seal had a leak. I would maybe suggest trying to get the car on a lift and seeing if the noise is coming from the transmission. I hope this helps you because It was a PITA to find the issue
edit: I forgot to mention that the n55 motor had a recall for the rear main seal so maybe look for a similar recall for the s54. Best of luck, beautiful stance btw! my e90 had a very similar stance
Should gotten a Prius if your concerned about mpg and being too loud lol... Siiiickk whip tho man. Currently in the market for a e92 M3 myself 🤟🏼
Love the tag surround
The whining could be coming from the exhaust valve module behind the driver side tail light for the oem muffler, try unplugging the module and see if the noise goes away.
Great video. I’m contemplating going from my E93 335i which is running 440bhp to a M3. I don’t think the power loss is worth it.
Alan Stewart depends what you want from a car. If you just want straight line speed it won't be worth it. If you want to experience a better drive and fun car in the corners the M3 is amazing and a rewarding drive, I love mine
I came from a 550hp turbo car, the M3 is hands down the better car. Once you "get" it you'll be smiling everywhere you go
The engine is designed to be revved to build power.
Complaining about low end torque is completely missing the point.
It isn't slow.
About changing gears between reverse and neutral is just you nit picking.
Would recommend retrimming the steering wheel and replacing the plastic trim.
My mapped 320d has more torque 🤣But I love how the m3 is naturally aspirated
The days when gas was cheap😔now its $5.09 where I live in Cali almost $80 to fill up my tank ever 3 days
Tf? 98 octane for Adelaide is 1.25 a litre lmao that’s what I use on my 325i
When you put the gas cap in its holder I tripped out
I dislike I dont have a E92 M3 but I do like I will have one, one day.
You’ll get one soon!!!
You should consider getting a Lexus. ISF, GSF even an IS350. I own a 350 and it’s great. Little to no issues at all. Great cars.
With regards the low, I have fitted hybridair to my kw coilovers, in Singapore it is impossible to run low without a front lift system.

I don’t have an M3, but my E90’s cup holders are still good 10 years later lol
I don’t like the stock headlights. Custom rings and blacked out housing is the way to go
Thx bro!!
Last issue is probably a cracked or leaky valve cover my car was doing the same thing.
Vid was oddly satisfying
To me what i dont like is, front bumper just looks unfinished like some type of lip is needed, and the gauges just not enough info for a sports car like no water temp or much of anything. i know you can get it to display but it takes half a day to set it up and it goes away when you turn the car off
did not realize the black E92 was a DCT
Take a Magic Eraser to that shiny greasy steering wheel you can remove all the oils and get it looking matte and new. Or..... Buy the M performance wheel with the shift lights.
Oh that’s a great idea thank you!
Spencer Berke no problem just add a bit of water and go lightly it also cleans the stitching really well. I like to use a microfiber to wipe right after and get the matte look back. It will make a bit of a flaky mess so a vacuum needed to clean up.
In these cars I don’t like only one thing - I don’t have m3 yet! Apart for that everything is fine.
What do you mean with 0:19 #2 "How long the car is"? It's a tiny coupe, I drive an Audi A8 D4 long wheel base as my daily and have no problems, even here in tight European cities.
You're in America with huge parking spaces!
