When I first tested the e92 m3 It reminded me of the Mustang I use to drive when I was a teenager, I was the only one of my friends that could drive stick so I got to drive a ballsy car at like 16 years old lol, when I was 25 I got in one of these E92 m3s and it brought be back,
I have a 2011 E92 M3 6 speed, just did rod bearings at 36k miles. There was surprisingly a lot of wear. I would recommend getting it done especially if you plan to keep the car long term. Also installed an Autosolutions short shift kit, takes all the play out of the shifter and makes it feel extremely solid and high quality, with more direct feel. Its custom made to your preferences, so you can choose how much throw reduction you want and at what height. Highly recommend. Hope to see more videos on your M3 in the future, thanks.
For rod bearings there have been cars with 100k+ miles and showing minimal wear. It's honestly different for every car and the main determination for wear is if the car was correctly never pushed hard before reaching oil operating temp
@@thomasdoherty5104 That's really only partially true. Regular proper warm up procedure surely does not make you immune from rod bearing failure, and is only a small part of the picture when it comes to S65/S85 rod bearing failure. Those who know these engines, those who build them, all agree that there is too little clearance int he rod bearing design from the factory, and recommend increased clearance spec rod bearing replacement. There are many examples of S65's s/p 50k+ miles + track days on proper spec bearings that have been taken apart and show zero wear. Less internal friction and more reliability is a win win.

Love the video. I had an e90 335 with a JB4 tune. Bought it new. Great car. Recently bought an e90 M3 one owner car. Love it. Just needs the competition rims. Coming soon....
Me too! ☺️ hard to believe it’s been that long since I’ve been following the Channel. I’ve owned 3 manual e92 m’s over the last 10 yrs. I’m debating on getting another one or f82 M4
Your right brother. We have had ours from new in 2010 BMW 328i E92 stright 6, ok its not a turbo car but very reliable. The usual maintenance, coils, plugs, 1 battery, a temp sensor, and a oil housings gasket.. seriously not much for a 14 year old car..! We need to keep the haters away thier bad rap for us who know the truth of real BMW ownership..we are owners of a BMW, and who cares what other people say, we own them and we love them..everyone else off our cloud...! Great channel bro..!
Hydraulic steering is a HUGE plus!! didn't realize how much I would miss it after making the switch to electric. It's not everything, but everything else feels irrelevant without it.
Great objective review - I have had mine 7 years ..... never missed a beat , still puts a big smile on my face every time i walk up to it..... and its great to hear another M3 E92 fan... and its been totally reliable.... and I never complain about the fuel .... you cannot expect a V8 to give you 1.6 Turbo returns : ) Best car i ever owned .....
Mine is an 08 manual. I’ve had it three years and I love it. She’s getting up there in the miles and so I am a constant inner struggle as to whether I should keep her. For now I’m just going to love her and be thankful for the opportunity to own such an amazing vehicle
I never understood whats so scary about the road bearings. Change them up and forget about it... A friend of mine preventatively changed his at 100k km, hes now at 300k km and the engine is silky smooth!
And I really liked your comment about comparing the M3 to the 335i. 👍 There is a story behind every decision making. There is no need to pretend to be a M, or justify a 335 over a M, when the 335i is unique in its own way.
2012 bmw e92 ///M3 alpine white black interior with DCT and competition pkg 45k miles. I love the car bought it 3 years ago and have no plans of replacing it.
Owned nearly identical 2011 (red interior) for 3 yrs, not a daily, 45k miles to 55k...not a lot of miles but zero problems so far, stock comp. Always great fun, good replacement for the crotch rockets of my youth. Also paid $35k, immaculate, single owner from Colorado....single owner is crucial to ME...with 4 or 5 owners they only rented it. Trans is vastly better than my old E46 but that is a LOW bar.
Just a side-note: the E92 is actually not designed by Chris Bangle. BMW wanted to their 3 series to sell well, so they kinda intentionally avoided the progressive styling that Chris Bangle is known for. The E9x turned out to be design by a Japanese designer (can’t remember his name tho).
wow I guess I learned something then. I think most people say Chris designed it due to era of production, but I think the name is Joji Nagashima. I googled it hah.
Thanks for your honest review. I have a 2008 e93, glorious car with the top down. I drive it once a month or for road trips, it's not a daily driver. Love everything about this car. I have owned many cars, Porsche 911's, Mercedes etc. but this one with the V8 to red line line is so much fun. Cheers brother!
I bought my e92 m3 at roughly the same time as you did (manual, alpine white, without the competition pack) and I have no plan to sell it any time soon. It's in no way a perfect car - but at the same time I'm having a hard time finding something that can really replace it! It's just so special. And it's getting more and more by the day.
I've got one 2008 second hand in 2012. I put a ton of miles and yes, it's very reliable! Other than the expensive throttle actuator failures. At 188k miles currently.
Congrats. I've had my E90 M3 for 4 years also, since Feb. I think if you've owned one, you know why these are pretty special cars. Especially on mountain roads and on track.
I sold my E92 M3 last Fall and bought an F82 M4. I miss 2 things: The thigh extensions on the seats and of course the V8 sound. I had mine 4 years and sold it for $4,000 less than I paid. Zero mechanical issues. The E92 has a more organic feel, more about driving and not just technology. And as far as the M3 vs 335 debate goes, I came from a '13 335is and yes, it was faster with way more torque, but the M3 was more refined, tighter, more planted with nicer seats. Good video Brandon!
I got an E90 M3 recently, 150Ks on the clock, I'm not worried about the rod bearings, just let the oil warm up like you say and you'll be fine!! Screw all the rod bearing haters
You’re not wrong on the interior room and practicality. I owned an E46 M3, and it was the same way. The rear seats had a surprisingly good amount of space! Felt like more space than the rear in my 5-door MK7 GTI! I fit me, my sis, and two nephews, in it on a 6 1/2hr trip EASY! No complaints from anyone. The rear seats give the passengers a great seating position, which I think is the key to it feeling so comfortable. You are also 100% right about 335i owners. I have always said it. 335i owners are the worst group of BMW enthusiasts out there. And unfortunately, that “335i mindset” has also infiltrated into all the newer regular 1, 2, 3, and 4 series owners.
Great review video it helps me a lot as soon to be owner!🙂I use to have a 1998 E36 M3 Manual sedan (still miss it). Got married, sold it in 2012 and bought a Lexus RX. Still have the Lexus as my old golf beater. Have had a 2013 E93 335is DCT (loved it), 2015 535i M sport and a 2015 Audi RS5 Cab (also last NA V8) in the past few years! We do have an X5 M Sport currently but I miss the manual! So I just bought a 2008 E93 manual in Sparkling Graphite Metallic (only year offered) with Fox Red. With 90K on it, it's been well taken care of but had the rod bearings replaced and other subtle stuff done. I too am not big on bunch of mods. It's in route from Florida to California. I already know some cosmetic stuff I want to do like rear LCI tail lights, LUX head lights and the leather carbon fiber trim. I will post once I get comfortable with it. Thx again!
Great video. The most shocking part was the reliability part. I've heard that BMW has to make good cars. Considering what they'll be used for in Europe and some other parts of the world. I've never owned a BMW but I am looking into an M sedan. Here's what I have discovered from my research. If someone neglects a BMW they'll neglect you. Yet what car doesn't do that?
I love my e92 m3. I daily drive it so the low torque actually works out for me because if I wanna have fun, I just have to live at the high rpm’s and work for my fun. If the roads are slick, I just shift early and have a smooth BMW.
Excellent summary. My 2008 E93 Cabriolet has been a pleasure to own since new and I hope to keep it forever. Watch for any minor leak on the rear diff and replace the seals. If it fails it will dump all the fluid and fail spectacularly. Common fault is the passenger airbag module which senses a passenger's weight in the seat. It will fail, just a question of when. I routinely send an oil sample from an oil change to Blackstone for analysis, as an early warning system. While I prefer a manual shift, the double-clutch on my car means that everyone in the family can drive it (when I reluctantly let them).
Love my white '13 6 speed Comp. Never selling it. A few more thoughts: 1- The clutch length is just a bit too far. Put the $5 slightly bigger 'stopper' in (look it up) so you can press it to the max while still sitting comfortably. 2- The yellow halogens are yuck. Easy switch to put in white LEDs, which actually make the car look "younger", in addition to improving night visibility. 3- An X6 donut spare will fit the e92 M3, which thus allows one to get rid of those awful run flats for proper Michelin PS4S'. PS I also swapped out the gear shifter for the M5s. Game changer.
Great down-to-earth, non flashy, informative video. Love videos like these. First of all, your car looks great, and I actually like your seats. I think they keep it looking fresh and not dated as well as the navigation screen, but that's just my preference. Currently looking for a well maintained E90 or 92 myself. I have a 2017 428i, and it's been a great car, but I'm not getting that ultimate driving machine experience I was looking for. My only real concern is the lack of torque down low and am hoping it doesn't give that sluggish feeling driving around town or from a stop, as I really don't like that feel. Going to watch your mod video now. Best of luck!
Had an e30, e36, and e46 other than my e92 m3. Although I love my e46 over the e92, I still love the e92 for its newness. My next sights are on an f30. I have driven and love them.
My friend, your right the BMW is a very good car. Mine is a 2010 E92 N51 No turbo, hydronic steering, sport pak. 107,000, 8 years owned, no major problems. Oil change, plugs, fluids, plane maintenance is the key. It is a reliable car. The 335i has turbos and that is the problem. Wear and tear called thermo shock all trubo's go through this, it part of the beast. The natural aspererated engine is the best, not the fastest but so what! it has a better reliability life than any turbo car. That's just the way it is! And you know what. To buy a BMW, you did buy a very good car. O'" ya" made in Germany 2009 🇩🇪 shipped over here, for the 2010 year. Thanks
Spot on!! I had an interlagos ZCP e90 6speed for 2 years and no issues on my end either! Just basic maintenance. Rod bearings weren’t done either. With that said tho I think really all depends on the “type” of driver we are. Weekend warrior/non track. There’s going to be the other batch of car guys that will fight you on your review but they need to be reminded the factor of how the driver intends to use the car
I'm glad you made this video....I think most you tubers go on contagion mode and repeat what the other UA-cam said and soon people like me, who wants an e92, find myself wondering how could BMW make a rolling turd, an unreliable POS, how could they knowingly make a bad car and why do I want one....thank you.
Wow so clean! Looks awsome!! I had mine for 4 years from 17K, now it's 33K. No big issue but recently changed pulleys and steering pump that cost me $1200. Hope that gets me another 4yrs 😂.
The car is still over 10 years old. Granted the rod bearings wouldn't be as badly worn as a higher mileage one (potentially) as there's so many variables. But, the plastic actuators will still be 10+ years old, as will the board inside them.
@@brandotube years do nothing with how fast rod bearing wear , it’s about the miles lol, I have a car sit for 30 years and the rod bearings will be fine, a lot of other stuff will be fucked th
@@BMWROYAL I agree with you to an extent however, plenty of cases on forums etc that prove no mileage is safe from the issue. All depends on warming up, how it’s driven, and the load on the engine… a car that’s been beaten on for 30k straight miles could have spun bearings over the one that’s been properly maintained and is on 60-70k. That being said I do somewhat agree as everything has a lifespan!
Tottaly agreed everything you just said on this video, rod bearings it just depends from owners, If nor warmed up properly and driven hard as soon you press the button it can fail at 20k, 30k, doesn't matter, my one its a 2011 6spd manual 87k and rod bearings not done, and my colleague have an 160k miles m3 still not done, it doesn't mean I'm not going to do it but my car still feels good only problem o had was a starter motor and valves cover small leak. Then just maintained up to date. Love your m3 content buddy.
Ive had my M3 e92 since new, a 2012 model. Silverstone. Just coming up to 60,000klm, (35k miles). Its a DSG, always in the right gear, a delight to drive. Im not concerned about throttle actuators or rod bearings, I dont drive it hard nor daily. This is my entertainement, not a daily driver.
Hey great review and As a 4 year owner of an e90 M3 Comp Pak MY11 I could not agree more with all you have said. Mine has 38k and I drive it daily and commute to the city. It been 100% reliable and is my 3rd M3 and definitely the best. My Son hav a F80 but while it is ballistically fast it does not drive as well as mine and I think it will age and the interior is very plasticy and it creaks. My Mods are similar to yours but X Pipe Sports exhaust without primary CATs and a BPM stage 2 tune which did make quite a difference to the car in that it woke it up quite a lot over the standard car not a huge HP gain but it was definitely the best mod to make and sounds fantastic which I think is something only owners for e9x am3 can understand and appreciate. Agree on the Rod End bearing issue. It is a fact of life but once you get them changed that is is. Throttle Actuators are basically a time based issue as a whole (There are always exceptions especially on the forums etc 😂) but their issue is more a time and heat soak issue given their location in the middle of the V and boy does it get hot under that aluminium bonnet. But as you said treat them right with good regular servicing, warm them up properly which probably caused most of the Rod End issues anyway and run the correct oil for you part of the country or world and the S65 is an amazing engine that is totally reliable. Just look at how many e9x still run around the Ring without any issues and are amazingly fast still after all this time. These cars are classic and are collectable. Great review it’s just a shame about the E9X haters out there, but as you said most of them have most likely never owned one for real Jp
Another nice video mate. Been following your stuff since your bought the car, while in parallell had a very similar (AW E9 ZCP) for 7 years now. Like you say, time flyes with these cars. Seem you plan to stay with the car for another while. Same here...:-) Oh, and they are like you say generally very reliable. Done RBs and TAs but not even a lamp bulb broke in 7 years daily use. Not bad.
E92 M3 owner. Replaced my bearings at MRF with 45k miles. Severe pitting on cylinder 4 and general deterioration throughout. I feel like this comes down to risk tolerance, I spent roughly $2k out the door with new mounts and sleep well at night. Does it happen to a lot of people? No. But, I’d rather spend $2k vs. $20k for a new S65. One of my irritations with the car is the size of the gas tank, would have loved it to be 25% larger. My experienced has largely mirrored yours though, all I’ve replaced is the battery in 3 years of ownership.
Suggestions for 2021: Cars and Coffee coverage, maybe some car shows, a road trip - smoky mountains again? Some people may like to see you track that thing, but yeah, I know the risks.
If anything, these e9x are gaining in value. Haven’t been watching e92 prices, but I can tell you an e90 ZCP manual with 48k miles is prob going for north of 50k.
Have to say, except for an ignition coil mine has been bulletproof (80K miles). It's a timeless design with that brute feel (opposite of a Lexus) and, like you said, once you drive one...
73k on stock rod bearings. Not changing them any time soon. My M3 is very reliable mechanically but at this point I ran into a problem, my car loses electrical power while driving. Dealership said it was battery problem and that it was not coded in right, so I replaced battery. Car still shuts off and they say my throttle actuators are failing - they're not. Lastly, my cup holder came back some what broken, the spring was still intact but the cup holder needed to be pulled a little for it to really spring out. I bring it back, they couldn't replicate the electrical black out problem but they did replace cup holder and surprise surprise surprise! They throw me a 3.5k bill on throttle actuators, still! I declined. Fuck Buena Park BMW. Anyways, what could be the problem for my car blacking out while driving? Alternator? Loose connection from a wire? Computer?
Nice video, I do love the M3, but I love my 335. Basically the same car (sport package etc.) but with the N55. They are very similar but the turbo makes a big difference. Mine has been quite unreliable, but I drive it hard, plus it is my dd with 120K miles, and the infamous electric water pump issue has bit me twice. But honestly, if I had a 4 car garage like yours I would have an E92 M3 or maybe E46 M3. Or maybe the new M2 CS.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to present this documentation of your E90 M3, along with a well presented detailed list and supplies to preserve its appearance and maintenance. I also own an E90 M3 manual, although I've only driven it once very modestly after purchase for about 30 Km just to simply say I've experienced it.At purchase, it had merely 735Km on it. It was originally owned by BMW Canada, who used it as a release vehicle for the various dealers in Canada and for the public at events throughout Canada such as the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) in Toronto Ontario and other similar events in various provinces throughout Canada (in British Columbia,Calgary, Montreal ,PEI etc). A dealership in Calgary Alberta ultimately acquired it & whom I gained acquisition from.Other than may test drive, the vehicle has remained stored indoors under controlled climate conditions by a BMW dealership whom also perform the necessary periodic maintenance that still requires to be performed even under these conditions. I haven't had performed any of the major issues such as pro-active rod bearing replacement, nor the throttle body actuators.I'm not sure what I will ultimately do with respect to these; however, I will continue to monitor information. My most likely decision on these will be to do nothing but monitor and observe once I do begin driving it.However, due to it's low mileage I would perform periodic oil analysis, regular oil & filter changes well before BMW recommendation, most likely well within 5000 km., & also perform the correct egine break -in ptocedure, and I don't plan to ever rev the engine beyond 5000 RPM.I recognize the notable presence that it's engine demands; however, I believe that the M3 can be enjoyed satifactoraly, in many ways, such as its tremendous handling, cornering ability, safety and breaking ability, exterior and interior presence, other than simply focusing on running it up to 8500 rpm redline with every shift, it's 0 to 100 specs , and etc. !
5w50 is better oil for it. Warmer thermostat 89c instead of 78c will get your temp up quicker and saved your rod bearings. I own one, I have that set up. You could 200k miles on good bearings with the 5w50 and 89c thermostat.
Couldn't agree more about the driving experience!! For the money I struggle to find cars that I enjoy more on a daily basis but I might be a little biased 😂
Awesome video! I also have an M3 and live near Indianapolis. I have been running redline 5w50 in mine the last 3 years and have been getting significantly less bearing wear on my oil analysis. If you track the car I’d keep 10w60, but if you drive it for fun I would definitely recommend 5w50. I also add MotorKote usually 1 quart MotorKote and the rest 5w50 redline. It warms up in half the time as well and the vanos system still runs good on it. I change mine at 3,000 miles. But I’m sure like you, I hit the 1 year mark on mine before the mileage mark....awesome video though! Mine is Interlagos Blue with the competition package.
Also, regarding your price points.. one dealership near me has 5 and the cheapest one, they’re asking 70k. The highest one is a 2012 with 2,691 miles for $180,000..
It can go either way. You either HAVE to rev it out or you GET to rev it out. It’s all a matter of perspective. From a performance standpoint, having little low end torque is a detriment. But if you want the best straight line performance, an m3 is probably the wrong car for you regardless. I personally am a huge fan nice sounding engines with a high redline, so I gravitate more towards something like this over the newer m3’s with the turbos and higher torque. It’s not to say that one is better than the other, but it’s just the kind of car that I prefer. With that said, I’ll be happy if I get to squeeze these cheeks into any m3 at all.
im planing on buying an M3 E92 very soon, but the prices in norway is WAY different than in the uk or us.. im looking at prices from 45k to 65k and the ones that cost 45k is high milage and 2008 mod..
I feel like you should get the euro bumper since it deletes those side markers. I get your issue with dealing with 335i and stuff. I thought it would only be amg boys that gave any attention but it's my own people lol (bmw).
Man some of you guys really "garage queen" it huh? I got a 2013 e92 m3 alpine white dct, bought it with 32k miles and am at about 81,500 miles, 4 years ago. All in alll, its my daily and i wouldnt have it any other way (live in CA). And its still under driven lol
You would be lucky if it reaches 400bhp on a dyno. I really like the cockpit. High quality ,durable. Steering feel is not great but its accurate at least. Overall its a great piece of kit. I hate the key slot mechanism. No oil dipstick? Terrible idea. No park mode ? The best part are the door bins 😂😂😂😂
The rod bearing questions/comments get annoying after a while. I owned a 987 cayman s prior to the M3 and got the IMS nonsense all the time which was almost worse. No issues with either car during my ownership despite the hysteria
But, rod bearings are a thing. Pretending like it's not is a bad thing. They affect E46 m3's as well. Being an owner of the S85. It doesn't matter if you drive the car softly or track it. Rod bearings should be considered a maintenance item.
Sounds like you not having any issues so far I believe is because you have such little milage on it so far, let us know how it's doing when you actually hit 100k milage & beyond. This is a beautiful car, just don't think you should put any significant milage on it in future.
Beautiful car - I need to add E46 and E92 M3 to my collection! lol Prices have really gone up in last 2yrs. You should pickup F80 M3 to satisfy the torque needs.
I’ve been looking for one but they’ve been increasing in price and it’s so hard to find one with good miles, carbon fiber roof, black or red interior, and with the competition package.

Me too! ☺️ hard to believe it’s been that long since I’ve been following the Channel. I’ve owned 3 manual e92 m’s over the last 10 yrs. I’m debating on getting another one or f82 M4
@@ShiftedPerspective awesome
Great objective review - I have had mine 7 years ..... never missed a beat , still puts a big smile on my face every time i walk up to it..... and its great to hear another M3 E92 fan... and its been totally reliable.... and I never complain about the fuel .... you cannot expect a V8 to give you 1.6 Turbo returns : ) Best car i ever owned .....
hows the m3 doing
Loved my E90 M3. Absolutely zero issues. I did the RB preventatively. Build quality is superb on E9x platform
Mine is an 08 manual. I’ve had it three years and I love it. She’s getting up there in the miles and so I am a constant inner struggle as to whether I should keep her. For now I’m just going to love her and be thankful for the opportunity to own such an amazing vehicle
Please don’t sell it. Everyone can own a cool car but it takes a real driver to keep it
How many miles and have you changed the rod bearings?
Keep it. I have an integra type R , Ferrari 458 , e92 m3 , the m3 is just as amazing as the cars listed above ⬆️ definitely a keeper !
I never understood whats so scary about the road bearings. Change them up and forget about it...
A friend of mine preventatively changed his at 100k km, hes now at 300k km and the engine is silky smooth!
If you've had the car for 4 years that's all that needs to be said. No one will keep a car that long if you don't like or love it. I LOOOOOOOVE my e92
And I really liked your comment about comparing the M3 to the 335i. 👍 There is a story behind every decision making. There is no need to pretend to be a M, or justify a 335 over a M, when the 335i is unique in its own way.
You're right. They are very different cars and both are excellent in their own way.
2012 bmw e92 ///M3 alpine white black interior with DCT and competition pkg 45k miles. I love the car bought it 3 years ago and have no plans of replacing it.
Buying same car 13’ next week. Can’t wait. Kicked around the manual idea for awhile. Test drove both and loved the dct…
Joji Nagashima isn’t the hero we needed; he’s the hero we deserved.
Don’t forget that Joji designed the E39 as well ;)
It’s a beautiful 10 year old car. Love that you keep it stock. I bought a 2020 M4 convertible, hope mine looks as good as yours after 10 years.
I'm on my 2nd e93 m3. Its my therapy!
Just wondering did you do the rod bearing on your car? I got an E90 M3 currently at 108k miles hesitating on whether I should do it. Thanks!
I've had mine for ten..... your list is literally identical to mine. In the decade I've had it, I had to do two services.... great video!!!!
Best m3 out there among with the e46 m3. This car is a keeper
The styling peaked with the e92.....beautiful car....
Hell no it didn't, have you seen an F80 M3?
@@vegeta12379 okay, I would love to own a f80 m4.....they are beautiful
The F8X gen is truly the looker. Not saying the e92 isn’t but the F80 takes it in looks but looks is subjective

E9x better looking imo and better sounding
I got an E90 M3 recently, 150Ks on the clock, I'm not worried about the rod bearings, just let the oil warm up like you say and you'll be fine!! Screw all the rod bearing haters
how is it now if you still have it ?
My M3 is 2012, white with 21k miles, DCT, comp pckg. I don’t plan to sell it anytime soon... love it.
I got a 320 e92, because i cant afford a m3, but maybe one day, i can afford one
Have an e92 335i myself, definitely a blast to drive but selling it to get the M3, hope I won't regret it!
Thanks for the kind words! Happy to share fun car stuff and good luck on your search.
Had an e30, e36, and e46 other than my e92 m3. Although I love my e46 over the e92, I still love the e92 for its newness. My next sights are on an f30. I have driven and love them.
I have a B7 Audi RS4 and can say without a doubt I’m so much happier I went this route over buying a M3.
4 years with mine too, no plans to move on
I want to keep mine for a long time, as I have regretted selling previous cars (Evo 6 RS) which only get rarer and harder to obtain.
Your depreciation comment had held its own lol 4 years later and I’m buying a 78k mile E90 competition today for… you guessed it, $30k lol
Wow so clean! Looks awsome!! I had mine for 4 years from 17K, now it's 33K. No big issue but recently changed pulleys and steering pump that cost me $1200. Hope that gets me another 4yrs 😂.
I love the e9x chasis!! Never driven one but i sold my f80 to buy one, hopefully its the right decision 😅
Love this car, my only complaint with my E92 M3 is driving it for the first 5 mins. So stiff, but after it warms up its drives amazingly. 6spd btw.
This video has helped me decide between a car like this or a 335i. Thank you
6:45 well the car only has 50k miles, what did you expect lol, rod bearings don’t normally go till 80k same with the electronic actuators
@@brandotube true, I bought my second e92 m3 with 120k miles rod bearings where never done
As someone who has an e92 335, I wish I had the m3, I just can’t afford it 😃
One day bro💯
These cars are a Truly amazing experience
Tottaly agreed everything you just said on this video, rod bearings it just depends from owners, If nor warmed up properly and driven hard as soon you press the button it can fail at 20k, 30k, doesn't matter, my one its a 2011 6spd manual 87k and rod bearings not done, and my colleague have an 160k miles m3 still not done, it doesn't mean I'm not going to do it but my car still feels good only problem o had was a starter motor and valves cover small leak. Then just maintained up to date. Love your m3 content buddy.
And also the previous owner had the throttle actuators rebuild
Ive had my M3 e92 since new, a 2012 model. Silverstone. Just coming up to 60,000klm, (35k miles). Its a DSG, always in the right gear, a delight to drive. Im not concerned about throttle actuators or rod bearings, I dont drive it hard nor daily. This is my entertainement, not a daily driver.
Before my M3., I had a 335 twin turbo convertible, both great cars but M3 is the world renowned Marque!
I just bought my 08 e92 M3 this past weekend. Same exact color.
Great review it’s just a shame about the E9X haters out there, but as you said most of them have most likely never owned one for real
Jp
Nice presentation. Good looking sample.
thank you!
Great video my brother. Looking forward to the upgrade video!
Thanks for this video. I’m currently doing my research before I make the E90 M3 plunge
Great video! Always M!
Another nice video mate. Been following your stuff since your bought the car, while in parallell had a very similar (AW E9 ZCP) for 7 years now. Like you say, time flyes with these cars. Seem you plan to stay with the car for another while. Same here...:-)
Oh, and they are like you say generally very reliable. Done RBs and TAs but not even a lamp bulb broke in 7 years daily use. Not bad.
The DCT settings have overcome (to an extent) the low rpm torque.
My experienced has largely mirrored yours though, all I’ve replaced is the battery in 3 years of ownership.
yeah man you have a point. Which is why I may consider doing RBs at some point as well
I agree, I still like mine, no need to upgrade at this time.
"i cant imagine seeing this go over $30k"
Fuckin hell, a m3 in this condition is $50k rn
inflation is a bitch
Suggestions for 2021: Cars and Coffee coverage, maybe some car shows, a road trip - smoky mountains again? Some people may like to see you track that thing, but yeah, I know the risks.
Yeah I have plans to go to the mountains this year so that should be a blast!
Computer?
Great vid bro!
Thanks for the video. It was very informative. They’re a great car Stay safe
Any car that doesn’t get driven will be extremely reliable. Less than 18k miles in 4 years you will never have a problem with it for sure.
I have e90 335i with pure turbo and yes it's quick car now but e90 M3 is just Special in my opinion.
Great video! Thanks for all the information!
I like the challenge of knowing I have to shift pretty fricken good to race the dct boys
The rod bearings and throttle actuators always go bad, its just a matter of when. Your motor is still young.
You owned it for 4 years, but only put 18,000 miles on it. To be honest, this isn’t very valid.
With that said, I’ll be happy if I get to squeeze these cheeks into any m3 at all.
agreed 100% with everything you said
I'm saving up for this car, it'll take about 3-4years for me to get it, hope I can get it before I graduate uni...

im planing on buying an M3 E92 very soon, but the prices in norway is WAY different than in the uk or us..

I feel like you should get the euro bumper since it deletes those side markers. I get your issue with dealing with 335i and stuff. I thought it would only be amg boys that gave any attention but it's my own people lol (bmw).
I dont see any side markers. On front bumper that is headlight washer.
Side markers are orange and they are close to the wheel

I would love the Euro bumper, but that's a pricey change when it's all said and done.
Had the e46 m3, Im either going to get another E46 m3 but stick this time, or a e92 m3.
People with 335i should not be allowed to speak to people with a M badge.
About the oil issue go and watch last video of m539 restoration on his e39 m5
But, rod bearings are a thing. Pretending like it's not is a bad thing. They affect E46 m3's as well. Being an owner of the S85. It doesn't matter if you drive the car softly or track it. Rod bearings should be considered a maintenance item.
Not even after a 6 pack id choose a g80. E92 otw 👌🏽
