  • Meet Alfredo Uribe, a proud non-destructive testing (NDT) trade school graduate. From working in the tire industry to becoming the last line of defense in pipe inspection, his journey is one that deserves to be shared.
Before he attended technical school, Alfredo was able to secure a job at SeAH Steel USA with the help of his network.
His transition from a helper at the SeAH Steel USA pipe yard to a threat inspector sparked his interest in NDT. "At first I started as a helper, eventually became a threat inspector and saw how important inspecting can be. Eventually I discovered NDT and that’s the start of my journey,” Alfredo shares.
Curious to know how attending trade school was? In the words of Alfredo, “It was fantastic. Every aspect of that school was caring and it showed that they cared about every individual person that was there,” he raves.1

I went to this school before they got sued for sex discrimination, they forced me to cut my hair or they were going to force me out of school with no regard for me just having moved from out of state to Houston, TX. The recruiter lied to me and said it wouldn't be required of me. Women were allowed to grow their hair though and they had a no facial hair policy that they didn't enforce... if you were a white student. They showed a lot of favoritism to students, based on their ability to "fit in". Even as a perfect attendance and honor roll student they couldn't provide me with a job. Yet lesser qualified students would always be elevated to a hand picked status for having "the look". In the end it was a massive waste of time, as I had learned more in the field than I did out of a book in class. I still haven't paid a single tuition payment in over a decade. 🖕🖕🖕🖕
