Just the way Emily said "maybe you dont like that she has a place away from you" really angered me I understand she was upset with Lorelais living situation but seriously be grateful that your daughter and granddaughter are still alive and stop making everything a competition.

It puzzled me when Emily called to get ideas for the room. She asked Rory about her favorite things, and Rory decided the color blue was nice , though she didn't have a favorite color. I see very little blue in the room. It's beautiful though.
It was really sad when Lorelai can see the things Rory like in her room and looks very girlish and hers to this day doesn't seem like teen girl like Rory's and she actually lived there while Rory only visits. 😢 it's easy to see that Emily was hurt but if they treated Rory the way they treated Lorelai she wouldn't have reacted so well either, or wait that did happen too.
We call that bad writing. Don't get me wrong I really like this show. But a lot of the story choices in the original series, including what was going on in the Netflix miniseries really shows the lack of planning skills that Amy Sherman-Palladino really has as a showrunner at least back when she was doing this show, I haven't seen Marvelous Mrs Maisel, so I can't judge whatever was done with that. I mean she did say that she had the last few lines planned out for the show but honestly I think that's really all she had. I don't know if it's because we've been spoiled by a lot of these Netflix and Hulu shows always having a linear story throughout the season but really does represent the inconsistencies that early shows used to have.
Wow..I feel bad for Lorelei the fact that Lorelei couldn't decorate her own room or pick out anything that she would like what so ever, and then her mom going out of her way to figure out what Rory liked and what colors she prefer just seems like favoritism. If I was Lorelei I would have been more hurt than ever that my daughter gets everything she ever wants and I didn't. Its a horrible way of thinking but thats just how I feel. I understand that Emily wanted to bring Lorelei up to a high standard, with impeccable taste, and choices in men but she is not her doll or her, Lorelei is herself, free and beautiful and she always knew what she wanted
I mean, think of it this way: Emily tried to control Lorelai and it backfired tremendously. They have a terrible relationship. Doesn't it just make sense that she would have learned from her mistakes and tried a different approach with Rory? She doesn't want history to repeat itself. That being said, I don't think that's what she was upset about at all in this scene. Emily's accusation felt right on the money. Lorelai's always been protective and a little proprietary when it comes to her daughter, so to me, this scene read like she was just uncomfortable with the idea of Emily gifting Rory a whole bedroom in the Gilmore house, away from her. Like Emily is trying to steal Rory away.

Remember the episode when Rory went to the club and Emily, Richard and Rory went to look at something in Richards office? And Lorelai sat on the couch by herself Bc she had no idea what they were talking about. To me that screamed "I feel left out and I don't know how to fit in here"
In this scenario Emily isn't wrong. Lorelai was jealous Rory is getting the attention and effort she felt she didn't as a child. And she doesn't like that Rory has a place away from her.

Rory didn't know that Emily didn't know where they were living after Lorelai ran away. It's not stupidity it's child naivety, not realizing that by telling the adults something they weren't supposed to know. She unintentionally brought old wounds to the surface and caused rifts to get wider.
