Another thing about hogs and these traps, you have to wait till the entire group of hogs is inside cause if even 2 or 3 were left on the outside, they’re so fuccin smart they’d never go near a similar trap again and would teach all their subsequent offspring the same. And to anyone claiming animal cruelty or some bullshit like that, try having an outdoor cat in an area with a heavy hog population (or any pet/garden)
Pigs are land sharks. They'll even eat other pigs if it's on the menu. They're savage land sharks. I know a rancher whose goat went into labor in the same pasture as his guinea hogs. When the hogs smelled the blood, they went crazy and are the kid and mother.

Local people only should have absolute authority over their area of residence and life. You’d be surprised how many more animals see at a higher frame rate then use humans do. Even pets like Guinea pigs can see about 11 fps more then us while having a 340 fov.

That's an expensive setup, if you have livestock or crops to protect it's easy to justify a few grand, not as easy to make the purchase to protect grass.

The gates were open so they would enter to eat the bait, then dropped to catch them. These hogs were likely killed and possibly harvested for meat after being trapped. The reason it's ideal to catch as many as possible at once is because they breed at incredibly high rates and are extremely damaging to the environment, to the point they can actually destroy their own food supplies and starve themselves.
Their reaction time is incredible. They are all on the move way before the gates hit the ground. May need to equip those gates with some time of speed closing assist with some air pressure or something.

But load them up through a loading ramp and take them to a meat processing plant...Call, 'Feed the Hungry' and they will come out and pick up the meat for the needy. We do the same when we cull the deer population. 🦌 Some folks say we have a hog problem, but things are about to get really bad. (Scripture says: "A days wages for a loaf of bread.") We will be glad we have those hogs to eat, look at them as a blessing in disguise! Except that these pigs wont fight back, they will try to run. Even much bigger animals with far bigger herds don't fight back with lions, they only fight back with hyenas or wolves. What will happen is that the lion will kill 1 and they will all run to the other side of the cage then the lion will kill another and they will run to the other side. They grow in numbers because they don't have a predator here, when they get an apex predator they cannot understand the behavior.

But on the other hand, I have trail-cam footage of two mature sows under a feeder having an argument angrily snorting, grunting and stomping in obvious frustration with each other while stuffing their faces with corn. They were obviously clearly communicating with each other to the point I would consider it talking. From what I’ve seen on my own and others footage of larger feral hogs interacting when not being disturbed, they shown a higher degree of intelligence and communication than dogs or deer.

Except that these pigs wont fight back, they will try to run. Even much bigger animals with far bigger herds don't fight back with lions, they only fight back with hyenas or wolves. What will happen is that the lion will kill 1 and they will all run to the other side of the cage then the lion will kill another and they will run to the other side. They grow in numbers because they don't have a predator here, when they get an apex predator they cannot understand the behavior.

uhhmz uh Dude I understand where your coming from. Most people don’t understand hogs. On one hand, hogs do billions in damages yearly and are spreading out of control. But on the other hand, I have trail-cam footage of two mature sows under a feeder having an argument angrily snorting, grunting and stomping in obvious frustration with each other while stuffing their faces with corn. They were obviously clearly communicating with each other to the point I would consider it talking. From what I’ve seen on my own and others footage of larger feral hogs interacting when not being disturbed, they shown a higher degree of intelligence and communication than dogs or deer.
I wonder how would they react if gates slowly went down without making any noise? Will there still be havoc among them?
