They changed my life too, i learned English translating DK's lyrics and writing letters to Alternative Tentacles. First record i bought was POSITIVELLY D.O.A. 7"EP
I experienced so many shows with both of these bands in NorCal in the early '80s, San Francisco to Sacramento and back. Yes, I still have the vinyl. Potent memories. The dynamic between the "bouncers'" and the crowd and the band brings even deeper memories and thoughts. Interesting and fun, and I do feel compelled to share with my homeschooled children, now 20 and 17 … been sharing all along … but the perspective changes as time goes on. I met their dad when he had a 12" dread-mohawk and was riding freight trains up and down the West Coast and these bands were on that circuit :-) The first time I saw DK I had no idea that was who was playing. We got in through the alley in SF and next thing I knew I figured out who was playing. And, yes, I was underage, 17, and for sure I was under many influences … It was a different time. We all thought we were gonna die soon. Live fast die young was the motto. Who knew we would rock on and breed and so on …?
Pretty sure that's Whatti from the Exploited next the the amp to the left of DOA's bass player at 25:31 . DOA and the Exploited in one night!?!? Fuck, that must of been an incredible show.
@@SM-mx1it I'll have to disagree. One of the best but not the best. I have seen some greats: Iggy Pop, Johnny Lydon, Scott Weliand, Bruce Dickinson, Tobias Forge, Milo Aukerman, HR (on a good day), Angelo Moore,as well as Jello just. To name a few. Watching those guys work and control the crowd is mesmerizing.
DOA was great as a 4 peice. Too bad Joe is too much of a cheapskate to keep a second guitarist around. The last really guitarist that DOA had was Ford Peir. Does anyone know what kind of guitar Dave Gregg is playing ?
If you are being silly and sarcastic; trying to push some buttons it worked.... Jello, Henry Rollins and the guys in Bad Brains as well as anybody I ever spoke to at a DOA show became life-long fans. New Music Express (the European Rolling Stone) named DOA "The Best LIve Band in THE WORLD.....Period!"
the dead kennedys changed my life in the eighties.
But Bon Scott, you were dead before the start of the 80's .
Me too!

Me too
My mom changed my nappies in the eighties
RIP D.H. And thank you for the soundtrack to my teen years.
damn, didn't know
D. H. Peligro is amazing in how he keeps time with the stage-spastics of Jello. Easily one of the best live rock percussionists out there.
Rest In peace DH
I was at both of these shoes. DOA opened for The Exploited.
Had me confused with the "shoes" bit. Lol

Thrasher
ps. i really hope part of the change was with the culture, as conservatism's the new counter culture - aka the new punk rock

Man DOA is super Powerful!! Wimpy Roy is the man!!!
DOA were fucking great growing up !
Jello's pantomime is still ridiculous. Lol
He's still the best front person of any band.

S M shit, I forgot about Monkey, Henry Rollins, and Hank when he was in Turbonegro
Wow’ watta nice gigs 👍
Real Punk !
Issued on Rhino as a Videocassette but I don't think outside of that issue it was ever issued again.
I would lose my shit if I was at this show when Police Truck started up.
D.H for president.
So fucking great
Nice!
FUCKIN ROCKING!!!
😍
Why are there goons in front of the stage? Let the kids come up and jump off. I think Jello told them to lay off. He used to hate that stuff.

Where are our DKs of now in this age of Trump? We've become numb!!
and the age of leftist tyranny. it all needs to be called out..
d.o.a. was never a big draw anywhere. they suck and really, for their duration, had no following.
so ridiculous, who the fuck do you think you are? Yawn ...
I think that he's being sarcastic...Dumbass.

Ha!!!!!! They were pioneers of the stuff.I mean? Compared to what????
@@bilhamcobbly2957 Without D.O.A. Black Flag and DK there would be no gig venues (nor Hardcore Punk Rock) in the USA. End of.
