Honestly speaking it's the realistic horror films that scare me the most. Mainly because no matter how horrific a horror movie can get, real life will always be scarier than what Hollywood can create.

Fussy Harp yeh I figured that you would be in more dire situation then they showed & acted a lil differently. Such as: being frozen more-so; so their fingers more stiffer & the second guy would not of been able to grip at all. I feel the girl would of gotten hypothermia especially with the lack of food beforehand too. They didn’t seem focused on attempts to not freeze so quickly by moving much or hugging etc. or take longer between fist mention of ‘I’m gonna jump’ (most would get the snow would be like concrete) to ‘hang on, how we could use what we have to help ourselves’... before loosing it. P.S. as a woman I would totally pull my pants down n piss n just ask my friend to look away, like life or death situation is not the time to care about being ‘lady like’ lol

I wouldn't normally complain.about the actors not being shot in the cold, except the makers made a big deal about in being shot in the cold. So much so that when people complained about not seeing their breath the director claimed that it was so cold their internal body temperature. Which wouldn't happen unless they actually died.
Cables aren’t sharp, there aren’t wolves in New England, you can easily outrun a wolf on a snowboard. On top of that the decisions made by the characters are just stupid, it’s like they want to die.

Okay, let's put this one to bed. Humans are only fragile in the sense that all living things are systems which can fail without key components, we are only fragile compared to other animals in the same size and weight range. In actuality humans can take a metric fuckload of serious traumatic injuries and keep going. 95% of gunshot wounds are survivable. It's not the broken leg or ravenous packs of man eating wolves that get you, it's being stuck out in the elements for a prolonged period of time. The ultimate irony of Frozen is that no one freezes to death, no one dies from the very first thing that would actually kill them. Jumping and breaking a leg is the least of your issues, and getting down the mountain and to shelter is as easy as getting to the lodge itself, busting a window and closing an interior door behind yourself. A busted leg will keep, hypothermia won't and you have no choices in the matter, get it done or die. And luck is a major factor, it's not the only factor and it cuts both ways. Just as you're likely to incur some sort of minor to serious injury jumping 50 feet, you're very very unlikely to get a goddamn double compound fracture unless you're Mr. Glass, in which case why are you on the mountain and why are you volunteering to jump? This shit isn't magic, being a big burly survivalist doesn't matter, you're right, because it's easier than that! You don't have to bench press your way out of hypothermia, you need shelter and a fucking blanket. And on top of all that ski resorts aren't the fucking arctic, if the place were bitterly cold people wouldn't ski there. The biggest problem they had filming was that it got too fucking warm and the snow started to melt because it's fucking Snowbasin, it gets warm all the time, Utah is a high altitude desert. People ski here in particular because the dry air and the salt in the air makes nice, fluffy snow while it's still relatively warm out. And still, again, for a hilariously unlucky bunch of idiots who get caught out in the open during a blizzard they must have superhuman constitutions because not one freezes to death. Even the guy with the broken legs who's losing blood (and thus body heat) doesn't freeze to death! IT'S A HORROR MOVIE CALLED FROZEN AND NO ONE FREEZES TO DEATH!

i fell backwards from standing to on my back downhill onto packed snow, my right wrist was fractured. Packed snow goes through melting and freezing phases throughout the day all season, it essential becomes ice with soft snow groomed over it every night, with that soft snow layer melting and freezing again. imagine falling 50 feet onto 20 foot deep slab of ice

Richard Round I do respect Goodbadflicks on how they go about enjoy films. However, I do find it taxing that YMS is both celebrated and pigeonholed to become a review to nitpick the obvious low hanging fruit movies of how stupid they are. Like unfriended, the host and the saw franchises. Which I think only makes it clear of how shallow some viewers are when they just want to hear some asshole validate an opinion more than enjoy the film than what it is. Which is what really separates Goodbadflicks and YMS. I think his review on Frozen is boring and his editing style is starting to grow stale as he reuses gags and jokes to nitpick the film.
YMS is better at recomanding and analysing movies. His Synecdoche, New York series is long and insightful. But the whole "riff track" thing has slightly gotten out of hand. So many jaded people. The whole YMS vs Adam Green thing was awkward to follow
I enjoy the YMS review. He was able to call out the unintentional humor of the premise and just have fun poking at it and be nit picky. I don't care for most horror movies nowadays but I do appreciate how they are made and the production which is why, while I may disagree saying this is one of the best horror movies of the last decade I did enjoy this video and its history.
This movie deserves every bit of praise it can get. I live in South Africa, and it's crazy how many people haven't seen it, and how damn hard it was to find on bluray. So it's front and center when someone says, "Have you got anything new and scary to watch?" I always say, "It's not that new but I bet you havn't seen it..." Even my 60 year old father thought it was great and he doesn't do horror movies. Excellent exploration of the production too. Keep them coming.
This movie horrified me when I saw it years ago I just thought it was so good! I made all my family and friends who I thought could handle it watch it. Yea that scene where Dan jumps and then gets eaten by the wolves really stuck with me. I even did my own research after some of my friends were bashing the believability of some aspects of the movie. Definitely agree that this is one of the best horror movies that come out in years
It just frustarted me. It was so stupid... people having thei rhand on bare metal in winter, people not stuffing their face into their jackets, the cables don't cut you etc.
Funny thing is I watch horror movies my whole life no horror movies ever made me jump or freak out as much as I send it when he jumped and broke his legs and everything oh my god that part to me was pretty gruesome it wasn’t gruesome frozen but it was pretty bad especially the idea of being eaten alive I can’t imagine the fear somebody might feel knowing they’re going to be in the live
And that kids is why if I ever go skiing again I'm gonna carry some kind of emergency rope ladder. And if emergency rope ladders don't already exist then somebody needs to get on that.
The first time I watched this movie I was only like 11 or 12 so if it didn't have CGI I didn't give a fuck (yeah I was one of those people) but that scene when Dan jumps down from the cable car, breaks his legs, and gets attacked by wolves always stuck with me. He was just sitting there so helpless as the wolves circled him.
It probably stuck with you cause you were an 11 year old watching a rated R movie. They make rating so movies like this won't scare the shit out of kids.

geeber If we're being honest. Good intentions with the process of making a film doesn't equal a good movie. GBF looks at a movie's good parts. He watches them with an open mind and looks at everything going into it. YMS looks at all the flaws. Noticing a bunch of flaws can make a film bad. I love both channels. Very opposite types of videos in the same area of video making.
This looks very interesting, I always found Movies made based on Nightmare Scenarios very interesting, mostly because they can be very realistic and/or very suspenseful (And genuinely suspenseful, not just heavy breathing, some screaming "We are going to die!!", and the camera showing how screwed they are every five seconds.) and this movie seems to have a nice mix.
Frozen is an example of the best of horror and human nature, too. Green is fantastic; I love the Hatchet series and his take on horror from many interviews I have watched with him. The performances in Frozen are raw and terrific. Emma Belle went on to be in Walking Dead and the reboot of Dallas, and I love her; I love BOTH Ashmore brothers, and Shawn does a great job in Frozen (and in everything he does). Zegers is just a sweetheart and always gives a good performance. The wolves were just ridiculously frightening. I am mesmerized by their sheer power and behavior, and I cannot believe someone thought they were fake by looking at them. They were scary as heck because they are what CAN happen in REAL life (which is what this movie is - real, raw, terrifying). You think you can outsmart these magnificent creatures? You think you can do better on an abandoned ski lift high in the air? You think you can survive the frozen cold over days and nights? Yeah right; haters gonna hate but they're also amateur a-holes! GoodBadFlicks, however, YOU ROCK!
This channel is my mental nostalgic warm blanket. As a movie fan born in 78 a UA-cam channel cannot be any better. Fucking love it. I've been watching all the videos dedicating a few hours a day since I found it 2 weeks ago. It's a tradgedy that I just found it.
CGI wolves....!? Are you kidding me??? I don't even... That alone proves that some film critics have NO clue what they're talking about. This is a great movie and honestly one of the most believable horror movies out there. This COULD actually happen. That is what makes a good horror movie. Thank you for the awesome review and for giving the movie the justice it deserves. The only bad thing is when you try to tell people about this movie they start to sing 'Let it go' :/
It's unlikely, but situations like that have happened. What bothers me is how people confuse "unlikely" with "simply cannot happen". Why make a film about what happens 99.99% of the time, when the 0.01% of the time is way more interesting.
People also think the squirrels in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are CGI - but no, they actually trained squirrels. Just goes to show most people CAN'T pick out CGI as well as they think they can. I STRONGLY disagree that plausibility is what makes a good horror movie; there's a lot more to it than that and there are more PURPOSES to horror than genuine fear. And if it is, there's a serious failure in Frozen, in the fact that you can't even see their breath in half the scenes. Which, according to an expert that another reviewer contacted specifically for this movie, can ONLY mean the temperature was a lot warmer than we were led to believe. if it was anywhere near as cold as it's meant to be, you should be able to see their breath in EVERY SCENE. That by itself is a massive killer of suspension of disbelief for anyone who knows how that shit works.
I'm one of the few people that has actually jumped off of a ski lift when I was a teenager. It was at our local ski resort and the lift was only 27 feet high. I did it out of pure stupidity on a dare but thankfully I received no injuries passed a rolled ankle. With that said I can say and confirm that jumping off a ski lift is NOT something you should do unless it's a dire situation. The best advice to give someone that has to jump off a ski lift is aim for the nearest tree. If possible grab the tree and climb down. If the tree does nothing more than break your fall then that's still good as you will fall into non packed snow as people usually don't ski danger close to trees. Beyond that you still have the major issue of a tree sink, pockets of air that are trapped underneath the top layers of snow that are cause by snow being blown in one direction for extended periods of time. If you hit one of those you are going to have a bad time getting out.
So I kept seeing this movie back when in was on netflix and never gave it a watch and then after watching part your video was like okay i have to see this. So now after just finishing it omg was that a great movie. I could not watch some scenes from how real they looked and freaked me out. This was such an amazing movie.
GoodBadFlicks I'm gonna point out some flaws in the film that are major plot points. So when the guy broke his legs, he tied the handkerchief over top his snow pants. Another thing, why didn't he crawl down the mountain? Also, it wouldn't be nearly as cold enough to get frost bite if the lady put her bare hand comfortably on the metal pole. When Adam says "You can't see their breath cause it's too cold". That's wrong, Nobody else in the world has ever said that and the only other people who have are people who are repeating the director. I'm not gonna go into the science on why it's wrong, You could just look it up. My last point will be about how to get down from there. So you could just wrap your legs and arms around the rope, shimmy along, and reach a pole with a ladder. The ropes are not Razer sharp. In the mythbusters episode, the clothing rips because you're carrying your entire weight on it. But if you shimmy along while being wrapped around it, the most that will happen is your clothes will have been scratched slightly.
To be fair, I think that if they had thrown the objects they had such as boards, skis, etc. into the snowplow they could have easily been saved. If Dan had hung from Joe and Parker he could have been closer to the ground. They could also have used one of the ski or snowboard boards to hang from the cable car or a leather belt.
I watched this movie, and I love it, I still remember the 1st time seeing one of the guys fall from the lift to get some help only to get his legs broken then massacred by the wolves
Yeah, that fake leg effect stuck him to the ground so it was impossible to crawl away. Imagine being staked out like that by a director, waiting to die to incongruous wolves. All because they were too cheap to make a mobile effect. Then you would have got to go out like a man, slowly dragging your broken legs down the mountain to save your friends, only to tragically die in the effort. Maybe out of sight, so they never know what became of you, like a real tragedy. But no, cheap fake leg effect means your character sits for hours doing nothing before going out like a bitch. That must suck, as an actor.
I seen this movie written off by so many and didn't get around to seeing it until last year, which is a shame. This movie was fantastic, even though it completely ruins your day and makes you feel like shit lol...
YMS gave birdman 10/10 and Deadpool a 6/10 and if he saw "the thing" (1982) at the time of it's release he would say he hate it. clearly he cares more about "now what does this say?"

Excellent review of a really good movie. Real life situations are always the scariest. Freezing to death, falling, being eaten alive...all those qualify as they have all actually happened many many times.
YMS brilliantly tore this movie apart, including an interview with a scientist whose literal specialty was the effect of extreme temperatures on the human body. The "when you can't see their breath, that means it's actually colder" argument was simply described by him as "Silly". And the same video shows a tech wiping down the "razor sharp" cables with a paper thin towel and no gloves. Adam Green got so butthurt about getting these things pointed out that he specifically brought them up in the DVD commentary. Sorry, but not really sorry.
I like how he points out how silly and nit picky "reviewers" can be. I think movies should be judged on writing, cinematography, music, editing, etc. The basics of film making. Not whether or not what's being shown is plausible. The Exorcist isn't plausible but it's brilliantly made so it doesn't matter. Sure some elements of a movie can bring you out of it if it's too far fetched but as long as you have something grounded in reality and relatable you can do almost whatever you want. Anyone who watches a movie and thinks "Well this movie sucks because I would've done this to get out of that" doesn't actually like film and shouldn't be reviewing them. You don't care about the movie you care about showing off how "smart" you are.
Like Triangle, this was a movie I just happened to come across when I used to look for Saturday morning Horror movies. I was like, 14 when I saw this and it was amazing. I was so enthralled in this movie it made me rethink wanting to learn to snowboard. It really kind of fucked me up for a little while, and it's such a great movie.
The awful CGI wolves? Do we really live in a world where people can't tell reality from CGI anymore? I mean, I knew they were real wolves in 2010 when I first watched this movie. You want to see some bad CGI wolves go look at The Day After Tomorrow (one literally clips through some ship stairs) or The Grey.

The reason for it is glare, not direct sunlight, so it is also a common problem for people who work on the water for a living. While I personally don't recall enjoying this film that much, it is a true statement that sometimes, people are stupid. Being stupid from fear should be an acceptable thing in movies, and I don't know why people constantly think it's not allowed.

Ok so I don't know why I didn't discover your channel until last night but I have spent all day watching your awesome videos. And I took your advice and stopped this video after your warning to go watch the movie before continuing with the video and I loved it. A great movie and one I knew nothing about. I really enjoy your commentary and insightful information on all these movies. Some of which I know and have seen and some I don't. However with nearly all of them I wouldn't have had any idea of the production troubles they had or how much big name studios f**ked over creators. Which is why I find your videos so entertaining. Along with your relaxed voice. I've now subbed and thank you for all your efforts. Plenty more for me to watch ;D

i was all over this when it came out. thought it was very good. i like most of adam greens movies. i reallu like the one from a couple years ago i cany temember the name but its where the guy finds a hole to some underground monster world. that movie was awesome
Doesn’t matter what you try to remedy the unreasonable negative reviews, shit talkers will ALWAYS exist and continue until the end of time. They had always been there, but the internet just gave them a larger audience instead of just ranting about it to the friend sitting next to him in theater. At some point you just have to ignore them. Don’t feed the trolls, as they say. Just enjoy the positives and as long as you know you did good then it’s all that matters. But if you are one of those people who can’t let it go, then staying off the internet may be a good idea.

Finally got to check it out. I thought it was really smart. I couldn't even watch the scene when he jumped because I figured something like that would happen. The wife and I kept trying to figure out what we would do or attempt. We even thought of the clothes thing, but in the end--especially when the wolves showed up--it seems that in real life I would probably just have to sit there and freeze to death.

Sometimes I wonder why Disney didn't get sued for its biggest animated hit of 2014 with uncanny similar title, "Frozen"? Was it because they are two different movies and it's ok to have the same name? The same thing happened with James Cameron's Avatar and Shyamalan's The last Airbender before, but not with Disney 's Frozen?
I feel like with the most modern of Cellphone technology it still wouldn't help anyone, Smartphones are even more fragile and you would need Touchscreen gloves as well also if the reception is bad I hardly doubt you're going to get a Fucking Internet connection. anyways Great video Cecil and this is a great movie.

No surprise WHATSOEVER who the survivor was going to be. Unfortunately so few horror films (including this one) ever attempt to subvert that tired “lone female survivor” trope that still dominates even now
Usually I forget most shit in a horror film, but to this day, I'll never forget 2 scenes in particular that horrified me and broke my heart... *[SPOILERS]* The worst scene where Dan plummets down that long, horrific fall the ground, shattering pretty much all the bones in both of his legs...The lower half of his body was basically destroyed. If that wasn't bad enough, the pack of wolves come out to eat him. They circle and start snapping their jaws at him, he knows he's going to die horribly, and immediately shouts to his friend, "Lynch, DON'T LET HER LOOK! DON'T YOU FUCKING LET HER LOOK!" Lynch does what he says, holding Parker's hoodie up tight, so she couldn't look down, trying to keep her calm. Dan was so concerned about her being traumatized by seeing him die. That was so sad and awful. It felt too real. And that scene where Parker's hands get stuck to the metal, and she rips her skin off to get her hands free. >_< (winces) _ooohhh_ ...UGH! This movie reminds me of the "Open Water" movies. OMG they're so hard to watch.
I just got done watching the movie and I loved it. I wish I could have seen this movie years ago when it came out. **spoilers below** The only thing I honestly think was stupid was the guy jumping. If he was a good of a skier/snowboarder, he'd know just how hard packed snow is. My other gripe with the movie is when dude climbs down, he should have looked for his skies. He was not a snowboarder and knew the wolves were coming back.

I really enjoyed the movie.Likable and realistic characters,unique premise and solid overall. The only thing i could nitpick about is that i feel like the 2nd guy should not have died since wolves don't need to eat that often hence they wouldn't have chased him.But then again i'm no zoologist.

Joe came down and was injuring and bleeding profusely. The wolves, smelling the blood tracked him because they knew he was wounded and would be an easy kill.

This film is better than any of the shitty conjuring movies. Its real and it keeps you on the edge of you're seat the whole time. I starts at the ski resort so straight to the point pretty much and you actually care about the characters and want them to live. 10/10

Honestly speaking it's the realistic horror films that scare me the most. Mainly because no matter how horrific a horror movie can get, real life will always be scarier than what Hollywood can create.

They didn’t seem focused on attempts to not freeze so quickly by moving much or hugging etc. or take longer between fist mention of ‘I’m gonna jump’ (most would get the snow would be like concrete) to ‘hang on, how we could use what we have to help ourselves’... before loosing it.

I wouldn't normally complain.about the actors not being shot in the cold, except the makers made a big deal about in being shot in the cold. So much so that when people complained about not seeing their breath the director claimed that it was so cold their internal body temperature. Which wouldn't happen unless they actually died.

Cables aren’t sharp, there aren’t wolves in New England, you can easily outrun a wolf on a snowboard. On top of that the decisions made by the characters are just stupid, it’s like they want to die.

Okay, let's put this one to bed. Humans are only fragile in the sense that all living things are systems which can fail without key components, we are only fragile compared to other animals in the same size and weight range. In actuality humans can take a metric fuckload of serious traumatic injuries and keep going. 95% of gunshot wounds are survivable. It's not the broken leg or ravenous packs of man eating wolves that get you, it's being stuck out in the elements for a prolonged period of time.
The ultimate irony of Frozen is that no one freezes to death, no one dies from the very first thing that would actually kill them. Jumping and breaking a leg is the least of your issues, and getting down the mountain and to shelter is as easy as getting to the lodge itself, busting a window and closing an interior door behind yourself. A busted leg will keep, hypothermia won't and you have no choices in the matter, get it done or die.
And luck is a major factor, it's not the only factor and it cuts both ways. Just as you're likely to incur some sort of minor to serious injury jumping 50 feet, you're very very unlikely to get a goddamn double compound fracture unless you're Mr. Glass, in which case why are you on the mountain and why are you volunteering to jump?
This shit isn't magic, being a big burly survivalist doesn't matter, you're right, because it's easier than that! You don't have to bench press your way out of hypothermia, you need shelter and a fucking blanket.
And on top of all that ski resorts aren't the fucking arctic, if the place were bitterly cold people wouldn't ski there. The biggest problem they had filming was that it got too fucking warm and the snow started to melt because it's fucking Snowbasin, it gets warm all the time, Utah is a high altitude desert. People ski here in particular because the dry air and the salt in the air makes nice, fluffy snow while it's still relatively warm out.
And still, again, for a hilariously unlucky bunch of idiots who get caught out in the open during a blizzard they must have superhuman constitutions because not one freezes to death. Even the guy with the broken legs who's losing blood (and thus body heat) doesn't freeze to death! IT'S A HORROR MOVIE CALLED FROZEN AND NO ONE FREEZES TO DEATH!

Richard Round I do respect Goodbadflicks on how they go about enjoy films. However, I do find it taxing that YMS is both celebrated and pigeonholed to become a review to nitpick the obvious low hanging fruit movies of how stupid they are. Like unfriended, the host and the saw franchises. Which I think only makes it clear of how shallow some viewers are when they just want to hear some asshole validate an opinion more than enjoy the film than what it is.
Which is what really separates Goodbadflicks and YMS. I think his review on Frozen is boring and his editing style is starting to grow stale as he reuses gags and jokes to nitpick the film.
YMS is better at recomanding and analysing movies. His Synecdoche, New York series is long and insightful. But the whole "riff track" thing has slightly gotten out of hand. So many jaded people. The whole YMS vs Adam Green thing was awkward to follow
I enjoy the YMS review. He was able to call out the unintentional humor of the premise and just have fun poking at it and be nit picky. I don't care for most horror movies nowadays but I do appreciate how they are made and the production which is why, while I may disagree saying this is one of the best horror movies of the last decade I did enjoy this video and its history.

This movie deserves every bit of praise it can get. I live in South Africa, and it's crazy how many people haven't seen it, and how damn hard it was to find on bluray. So it's front and center when someone says, "Have you got anything new and scary to watch?" I always say, "It's not that new but I bet you havn't seen it..." Even my 60 year old father thought it was great and he doesn't do horror movies. Excellent exploration of the production too. Keep them coming.

This movie horrified me when I saw it years ago I just thought it was so good! I made all my family and friends who I thought could handle it watch it. Yea that scene where Dan jumps and then gets eaten by the wolves really stuck with me. I even did my own research after some of my friends were bashing the believability of some aspects of the movie. Definitely agree that this is one of the best horror movies that come out in years
It just frustarted me. It was so stupid... people having thei rhand on bare metal in winter, people not stuffing their face into their jackets, the cables don't cut you etc.

The first time I watched this movie I was only like 11 or 12 so if it didn't have CGI I didn't give a fuck (yeah I was one of those people) but that scene when Dan jumps down from the cable car, breaks his legs, and gets attacked by wolves always stuck with me. If we're being honest. Good intentions with the process of making a film doesn't equal a good movie. GBF looks at a movie's good parts. He watches them with an open mind and looks at everything going into it. YMS looks at all the flaws. Noticing a bunch of flaws can make a film bad. I love both channels. Very opposite types of videos in the same area of video making.
This looks very interesting, I always found Movies made based on Nightmare Scenarios very interesting, mostly because they can be very realistic and/or very suspenseful (And genuinely suspenseful, not just heavy breathing, some screaming "We are going to die!!", and the camera showing how screwed they are every five seconds.) and this movie seems to have a nice mix.
Frozen is an example of the best of horror and human nature, too. Green is fantastic; I love the Hatchet series and his take on horror from many interviews I have watched with him. The performances in Frozen are raw and terrific. Emma Belle went on to be in Walking Dead and the reboot of Dallas, and I love her; I love BOTH Ashmore brothers, and Shawn does a great job in Frozen (and in everything he does). Zegers is just a sweetheart and always gives a good performance. The wolves were just ridiculously frightening. I am mesmerized by their sheer power and behavior, and I cannot believe someone thought they were fake by looking at them. They were scary as heck because they are what CAN happen in REAL life (which is what this movie is - real, raw, terrifying). You think you can outsmart these magnificent creatures? You think you can do better on an abandoned ski lift high in the air? You think you can survive the frozen cold over days and nights? Yeah right; haters gonna hate but they're also amateur a-holes! GoodBadFlicks, however, YOU ROCK!

What bothers me is how people confuse "unlikely" with "simply cannot happen". Why make a film about what happens 99.99% of the time, when the 0.01% of the time is way more interesting.
They probably should have went with CGI, given how poorly their inclusion in this film was executed.

I am completely flabbergasted that someone thinks is a good film. Did we watch a completely different movie?
Having a plausible premise doesn't make a movie good, nor does implausibly make it bad.
People also think the squirrels in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are CGI - but no, they actually trained squirrels. Just goes to show most people CAN'T pick out CGI as well as they think they can.
I STRONGLY disagree that plausibility is what makes a good horror movie; there's a lot more to it than that and there are more PURPOSES to horror than genuine fear. And if it is, there's a serious failure in Frozen, in the fact that you can't even see their breath in half the scenes. Which, according to an expert that another reviewer contacted specifically for this movie, can ONLY mean the temperature was a lot warmer than we were led to believe. if it was anywhere near as cold as it's meant to be, you should be able to see their breath in EVERY SCENE. That by itself is a massive killer of suspension of disbelief for anyone who knows how that shit works.
I'm one of the few people that has actually jumped off of a ski lift when I was a teenager. It was at our local ski resort and the lift was only 27 feet high. I did it out of pure stupidity on a dare but thankfully I received no injuries passed a rolled ankle. With that said I can say and confirm that jumping off a ski lift is NOT something you should do unless it's a dire situation. The best advice to give someone that has to jump off a ski lift is aim for the nearest tree. If possible grab the tree and climb down. If the tree does nothing more than break your fall then that's still good as you will fall into non packed snow as people usually don't ski danger close to trees. Beyond that you still have the major issue of a tree sink, pockets of air that are trapped underneath the top layers of snow that are cause by snow being blown in one direction for extended periods of time. If you hit one of those you are going to have a bad time getting out.
So I kept seeing this movie back when in was on netflix and never gave it a watch and then after watching part your video was like okay i have to see this. So now after just finishing it omg was that a great movie. I could not watch some scenes from how real they looked and freaked me out. This was such an amazing movie.

GoodBadFlicks I'm gonna point out some flaws in the film that are major plot points. So when the guy broke his legs, he tied the handkerchief over top his snow pants. Another thing, why didn't he crawl down the mountain? Also, it wouldn't be nearly as cold enough to get frost bite if the lady put her bare hand comfortably on the metal pole. When Adam says "You can't see their breath cause it's too cold". That's wrong, Nobody else in the world has ever said that and the only other people who have are people who are repeating the director. I'm not gonna go into the science on why it's wrong, You could just look it up. My last point will be about how to get down from there. So you could just wrap your legs and arms around the rope, shimmy along, and reach a pole with a ladder. The ropes are not Razer sharp. In the mythbusters episode, the clothing rips because you're carrying your entire weight on it. But if you shimmy along while being wrapped around it, the most that will happen is your clothes will have been scratched slightly.

To be fair, I think that if they had thrown the objects they had such as boards, skis, etc. into the snowplow they could have easily been saved. If Dan had hung from Joe and Parker he could have been closer to the ground. They could also have used one of the ski or snowboard boards to hang from the cable car or a leather belt.
I watched this movie, and I love it, I still remember the 1st time seeing one of the guys fall from the lift to get some help only to get his legs broken then massacred by the wolves

Yeah, that fake leg effect stuck him to the ground so it was impossible to crawl away. Imagine being staked out like that by a director, waiting to die to incongruous wolves.
All because they were too cheap to make a mobile effect. Then you would have got to go out like a man, slowly dragging your broken legs down the mountain to save your friends, only to tragically die in the effort. Maybe out of sight, so they never know what became of you, like a real tragedy.
But no, cheap fake leg effect means your character sits for hours doing nothing before going out like a bitch. That must suck, as an actor.
I seen this movie written off by so many and didn't get around to seeing it until last year, which is a shame. This movie was fantastic, even though it completely ruins your day and makes you feel like shit lol...

Excellent review of a really good movie. Real life situations are always the scariest. Freezing to death, falling, being eaten alive...all those qualify as they have all actually happened many many times.
YMS brilliantly tore this movie apart, including an interview with a scientist whose literal specialty was the effect of extreme temperatures on the human body. The "when you can't see their breath, that means it's actually colder" argument was simply described by him as "Silly". And the same video shows a tech wiping down the "razor sharp" cables with a paper thin towel and no gloves. Adam Green got so butthurt about getting these things pointed out that he specifically brought them up in the DVD commentary. Sorry, but not really sorry.
I like how he points out how silly and nit picky "reviewers" can be. I think movies should be judged on writing, cinematography, music, editing, etc. The basics of film making. Not whether or not what's being shown is plausible. The Exorcist isn't plausible but it's brilliantly made so it doesn't matter. Sure some elements of a movie can bring you out of it if it's too far fetched but as long as you have something grounded in reality and relatable you can do almost whatever you want. Anyone who watches a movie and thinks "Well this movie sucks because I would've done this to get out of that" doesn't actually like film and shouldn't be reviewing them. You don't care about the movie you care about showing off how "smart" you are.
Like Triangle, this was a movie I just happened to come across when I used to look for Saturday morning Horror movies. I was like, 14 when I saw this and it was amazing. I was so enthralled in this movie it made me rethink wanting to learn to snowboard. It really kind of fucked me up for a little while, and it's such a great movie.

Do we really live in a world where people can't tell reality from CGI anymore? I mean, I knew they were real wolves in 2010 when I first watched this movie. You want to see some bad CGI wolves go look at The Day After Tomorrow (one literally clips through some ship stairs) or The Grey.

7:50 -- FYI sun-burned eyeballs are way more common than one might expect, and are a different kind of unpleasant to most other types of sunburn. The reason for it is glare, not direct sunlight, so it is also a common problem for people who work on the water for a living. The best comparison I know, from experience, is that it is like having invisible sand or grit in your eyes.

They had always been there, but the internet just gave them a larger audience instead of just ranting about it to the friend sitting next to him in theater.
At some point you just have to ignore them. Don’t feed the trolls, as they say.
Just enjoy the positives and as long as you know you did good then it’s all that matters. But if you are one of those people who can’t let it go, then staying off the internet may be a good idea.

Finally got to check it out. I thought it was really smart. I couldn't even watch the scene when he jumped because I figured something like that would happen. The wife and I kept trying to figure out what we would do or attempt. We even thought of the clothes thing, but in the end--especially when the wolves showed up--it seems that in real life I would probably just have to sit there and freeze to death.

Good movie IMO, very harrowing and atmospheric, Adam Green did an amazing job with it.
Frozen was later referenced with a fun little scene in Hatchet 2. It looks like Adam Green want to tie his movies together in his own movie-verse.

Sometimes I wonder why Disney didn't get sued for its biggest animated hit of 2014 with uncanny similar title, "Frozen"? Was it because they are two different movies and it's ok to have the same name? The same thing happened with James Cameron's Avatar and Shyamalan's The last Airbender before, but not with Disney 's Frozen?
Probably because it's harder to copyright very common words especially if they are the only word in the title
I feel like with the most modern of Cellphone technology it still wouldn't help anyone, Smartphones are even more fragile and you would need Touchscreen gloves as well also if the reception is bad I hardly doubt you're going to get a Fucking Internet connection.

No surprise WHATSOEVER who the survivor was going to be. Unfortunately so few horror films (including this one) ever attempt to subvert that tired “lone female survivor” trope that still dominates even now
Usually I forget most shit in a horror film, but to this day, I'll never forget 2 scenes in particular that horrified me and broke my heart... *[SPOILERS]*
The worst scene where Dan plummets down that long, horrific fall the ground, shattering pretty much all the bones in both of his legs...The lower half of his body was basically destroyed. If that wasn't bad enough, the pack of wolves come out to eat him. They circle and start snapping their jaws at him, he knows he's going to die horribly, and immediately shouts to his friend, "Lynch, DON'T LET HER LOOK! DON'T YOU FUCKING LET HER LOOK!" Lynch does what he says, holding Parker's hoodie up tight, so she couldn't look down, trying to keep her calm. Dan was so concerned about her being traumatized by seeing him die. That was so sad and awful. It felt too real.
And that scene where Parker's hands get stuck to the metal, and she rips her skin off to get her hands free. >_< (winces) _ooohhh_ ...UGH!
This movie reminds me of the "Open Water" movies. OMG they're so hard to watch.

The only thing I honestly think was stupid was the guy jumping. If he was a good of a skier/snowboarder, he'd know just how hard packed snow is.
My other gripe with the movie is when dude climbs down, he should have looked for his skies. He was not a snowboarder and knew the wolves were coming back.

I really enjoyed the movie.Likable and realistic characters,unique premise and solid overall.
The only thing i could nitpick about is that i feel like the 2nd guy should not have died since wolves don't need to eat that often hence they wouldn't have chased him.But then again i'm no zoologist.

There were 5-6 wolves in the pack. Its fair to say that they ate a fair amount of Dan. Joe came down and was injuring and bleeding profusely. The wolves, smelling the blood tracked him because they knew he was wounded and would be an easy kill.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE! One of my all time favorites! The only bad thing about this movie is, whenever I say I love Frozen, people are going to think I'm talking about that fucking shitty Disney movie.

This film is better than any of the shitty conjuring movies. Its real and it keeps you on the edge of you're seat the whole time. I starts at the ski resort so straight to the point pretty much and you actually care about the characters and want them to live. 10/10

Also when a movie today says that it's "based on real events", I hope you know that those real events did not play out like they do in the movie. There's something called "artistic license".
