My favorite part is when he used the fact I wasnt particularly knowledgeable about single payer health care as proof "I don't research topics I always talk about." I have literally never talked about health care and I've said repeatedly that economics aren't something I'm very good with. It's saying that you believe that they should hold the same societal role as their cis counterparts and that choosing to medically transition is what should be done for anyone with gender dysphoria. In Canada: A majority of services (hospital and GP stuff) are by law fully and exclusively covered by only public funding. The rest (optometry, dentistry, etc) are covered only out of pocket and/or by private "extended" insurance (though some government financial assistance is available). So that's the hybrid. You get hurt or sick? Single payer, no charge. Braces or glasses? American style privates only. Leftish parties are lately pushing to extend the single payer to cover pharmacy and/or dentistry.

First... a single payer system doesn't have to be universal. The USA actually has a single payer system called medicare, but it has an age minimum of 65 years old. What Bernie Sanders wants to do is remove the wage minimum, which would make it universal, and then the USA would have a single payer universal health care system.

If the government decides that their single payer system doesn't include dental care, then the private insurance companies eat it up; this isn't a public options, it's call supplemental health insurance. I think that Avalone was sincere in his beliefs as a conservative. He probably didn't do proper research and focused on sources that backed him up if anything. He began questioning those beliefs but kept the course because it was lucrative as evidenced by people jumping on the anti SJW bandwagon. He was probably a grifter at that time and didn't really seem to care that deeply about his beliefs because his content didn't come across as intelligent or well researched.
I'm thankful that is changing though. Be it through his life circumstances and genuine introspection, or that the gravy train on his channel might be slowing down and this is a way to pump new life back into a channel, I don't care. It's a start and I think it is pretty genuine and him getting a new understanding about truth, what it is, and how to seek it.

For those who are curious about the canadian healthcare, here's what's covered by the government:
- Any type of emergency (heart attack, car accident, cancer, tumors)
- giving birth
- any kind of consultation, although the less urgent it is, the more likely you are to wait. This includes anything that might make you sick and fractured bones.
- any type of exam, like blood test, provided the doctor recommends it to the hospital
That's off the top of my head. The private sector includes:
- dental care
- eye care (dont know the term in english)
- chiropractor (treatment consisting of cracking bones)
- physiotherapy
- plastic surgery
To be clear, all the things i mentionned in the private, it will be covered by the government if it comes out of an emergency. They have dentists at hospitals, should you hit your mouth on something. They will people to treat your eyes should you drop some acid in them or something. Physiotherapist will help people who need to relearn how to walk.
But regular stuff like a cleaning of the mouth, you get it done at the private clinic. My mom had a private insurance that covered all of us until age 21, paid for more than half for every treatment in private.
So overall, i'd say it's a good balance. The private sector is good for those who can afford it, but it should never be so big that it takes healthcare away from people, or rise the prices like in USA. Here in canada, no one is under insured, no one is denied coverage, no one goes into debt because of cancer.
We gotta get that dental care and eye care covered. I paid 400 bucks for a single wisdom tooth extraction that took literally 10 seconds, it sucks.

I’m only like 2/3 of the way through the video so I’ll amend this later if things change, but AJW seems like a well-meaning dude and potential ally. One of the reasons I like Vausch’s content is that he doesn’t back down and he goes hard on people that deserve it, but this felt like overkill. Maybe I’m getting soft in my old age, but this is the kind of content creator you want to pull into your circle, not alienate and drive him further right.

If the workers voted on what happened, they’d vote to reduce business hours by removing Saturday mornings, thus reducing profits and ultimately our paychecks. Sooooo, no, democracy in the workplace is not something I’d like forced into every business I work for. :/

Your personal anecdote about swim school can be countered by literally anyone else’s story about working for a company where the owners were idiotic and abusive and the employees had to keep watching them run the place into the ground. The data doesn’t lie. Worker co-ops outperform dictatorial organizations every single time. When the employees actually own a stake in the company, it provides incentive for them to work hard and make the business the best it can be because it directly benefits them. How anyone can think a system where employees are 0% invested is somehow superior is baffling to me.
You even argued this point for me! In your swim school example, you said most of the workers couldn’t care less about the longevity of the company. Exactly! Why the fuck would they? The owner and his adult son weren’t more invested in the company because they were better people with good ol’ fashioned American work ethics, they were invested because it was **their** company. This literally proves my point. You need your employees to be invested in their work and their paycheck should reflect the success or failure of the business as a whole.
I would also point out that every single one of the arguments you just made to justify economic authoritarianism could also be used to justify political authoritarianism. When you ask a fascist why they don’t like democracy, they say the exact same thing: “we need competent rulers who give a shit and know how to run things because the common man is too stupid and lazy to be trusted with any power.” It’s the exact same argument you’re using for businesses and I doubt you even stopped to think about how dangerous that line of thought can be.

Ok, just super quick point on democracy:
-Hitler was democratically elected.
-Children don't get to vote in a household.
-The best militaries to ever exist are not run as democracies.
Democracy is a tool and it certainly has its place. However, it is not a moral good and, as the 20th century demonstrated, a majority of people can vote for some awful people and do awful things.
Ironically, I am willing to agree that these pros can make people lazier and are a cultural negative.
That said, this is due to poor education (especially public education) and personal self-control. Meaning, the competent people benefit most, as is the case with all new technologies (TV as a tool for relaxation, or TV as a distraction to do nothing all day).
HOWEVER, in terms of sheer wealth created, the thousands of US jobs, and the money saving benefits of said services (streaming replacing cable, super cheap goods from Amazon which saves time and money, Tesla pushing other companies towards cheaper electric options, etc.) that replace outdated companies is a GOOD thing.
EX:
Sears disappeared despite being the most secure business 50-60 years ago, thanks to better stores such as Target and Walmart.
Blockbuster disappeared thanks to Netflix and then the onslaught of streaming services.
Walmart, previously thought to be usurpable, is now behind Amazon.
Your Cons:
Anti-unionization is due to how easy the jobs are. They can't unionize because hundreds of people will flock for the jobs. On top of this, I assume you mean as bargaining power which is not the only tool anymore!
Take how Amazon treated drivers awfully in those early years. These stories got reported and Amazon got slammed! So, Amazon began a PR campaign that included higher wages, some of the best benefits in the private industry, and all while improving their services. Soooo, I don't see how anti-unionization is a bad thing.
Another example is when Henry Ford started his first factory! His workers started walking off due to poor pay and Ford was actually concerned due to costs of training new employees and having good chemistry between his employees which produced better results. He thus rose wages and worked to keep his workers there and only keep those who worked well together, all without a union! It appears corporate heads still care about their employees, even if it is all to better service the company/efficiency of said company. :P
When you say ecological devastation, you'll need to explain that one and specifically how this happens (for I bet it will happen with "democratically ran" companies).
EX: Tesla has an obsidian glass battery prototype in the works that will change how we mine for said rare resources and would not have happened if Elon couldn't have made Tesla as it is today.
So, your critique would need to take for granted many technological and procedural innovations.
On the creation of economic monopolies, I indirectly addressed this already.
-Sears was a supposed monopoly. They are out of business.

Netflix actually has an incredibly hostile work environment where people have open channels to call out each other. They claim it is for better decision making, but they are ready to fire you at the drop of hat. On top of this, I'd argue that their progressive ideology silences true intellectual diversity.
I am actually very close to someone who was going for a very high position in Netflix, was the most qualified person by FAR (he looked up the one who got the job) and was approached personally by the VP of Netflix for helping find candidates. He was told he wasn't diverse enough (he's White), so he didn't get the job. I'd argue that is toxic and holding the superficial over the personal/intellectual, but I guess that is a separate argument. :P
On Amazon and Walmart previously having bad work environments, I suggest you look into it today. The horrid PR led to some sweeping changes that benefitted thousands of workers in both companies. No unions needed, just good reporting and a culture that actually pushes hard against companies with bad work environments. :)

Also, all the "data," you only have data for voluntary coops. You are recommending businesses be turned into involuntary coops. Expecting this to carry over the data is being presumptuous and not controlling for probably the most important variable: how the coops are created.

Again, I recommend the freedom for everyone to do as they please. The employees can leverage for a say in the company if they are invested, they can leave and start their own coop, can leave when they want, or can continue to work and be comfortable knowing their shift ends and begins when they want, no other strings attached.
Actually, no on comparing businesses and government. Businesses are a dime a dozen with an incredible amount of freedom and choice in terms of type of work, types of payment, types of bosses, types of corporations, etc. I can leave a business no problem, I can't leave the USA in the same way. :P
To use myself as an example, I can leave one swim school, go to another, start my own, start freelancing, move up the proper coaching, etc. OR, I can go pursue other types of work, including temp work such as Uber Eats driving while I go back to school for a law degree! I have freedom to switch and only be accountable for myself.
However, government is not an individual. It controls what happens to everyone, hence why I am against a universal requirement for businesses to be coops.
HOWEVER, if you want government mandated coops, I suggest pursuing these policies at the state level in the USA.
This way, I can choose not to live in your state and live in a state with the freedom to do as I please. Then, you can have everyone pro-coops live in a state that requires them in all businesses. Sounds like a win-win to me!
