Hi Sam and Melissa! Excited to catch a video early. Thank you for sharing what you do. Can y’all think of any phrases or figures of speech or just mannerisms that you could see out in the world and go “oh that might be a former flds, or oh that’s a Mormon probably.” I can think of a few things that stand out to me that remind me of my catholic relatives but I’m curious because flds and some Mormon households are very much their own community without much input from outside. I am curious about different accents and phrases in different parts of the country, even folks in the south have some of their own things that you just don’t hear out west or up north. If you guys can think of anything I’d be glad to hear it!
That's a great video idea! =)
To add onto this, when I moved to Utah, I noticed everyone said ‘precistcha (like Appreciate you, instead of Thank You. I actually came to enjoy this figure of speech, it is even better to feel appreciated than thanked. being appreciated is a bit like being acknowledged with love.
Thanks for sharing all of this in such respectful way. I would love to hear how did Sam changed his views about women and chores and all of that. It must have been shocking to see how outside couples are equal and all of that. Thanks 🙏🏻
Can I just say how much I love the new intro? Top notch.
Agreed! It's a great intro.. thank you Sam and Melissa for another great upload
You forgot the most important word of the sentence 🤣
@@Doglover11-y8z fixed lol
Thank you so much!
Make sure you "call us back" Melissa 😂😘 Enjoy hearing from y'all.
No matter what you're going through, just grin and bear it. Be grateful that the situation isn't worse than it is, because it's never as bad as it could be. To sum it up "keep sweet" is akin to saying hallelujah anyhow!! 🎶 When life's troubles come your way, hold your head up high and say Hallelujah Anyhow 🎶 . That's actually a real song.
Great video very informative!! I can’t believe people asked you how to join the FLDS. As all of your videos you say you left it. Silly people to ask that question!
Ooh this is awesome. Not that I want to be a polygamist but to know all the requirements and mandatory stipulations and all the weird jumping hoops
Love all your videos. It gives such great insight to those of us who’ve never grown up in the FLDS OR LDS. 😊 Also, your intro is great! Love it!
Thank you for being you two. ♥️♥️
Thank you so much!
Thanks for another interesting video. I just thought of a question about younger men giving to their father to help the family, did that end once they themselves were married and had their own family to support? Or did they still have to help father for a time (maybe until they had children or something? Thanks 😊
Great video as always. Would be good to hear what it’s like (for Sam) being an ‘apostate’ and what this entails.
Great suggestion!
I love your videos! So happy you were able to get out of there.
Thank you. I am too.
Thanks for another great video! I appreciate everything you guys are doing!
Love the videos! When is Sam’s sister coming back to join you in a video?
Hopefully soon! We are having Sam's cousin joining us for the next few weeks, so stay tuned! =)
I love your new intro and outro. Thank you for always sharing your lives and making interesting content.
Thank you so much!
You guys rock. 🤩
Aww thanks!
Have you seen the UA-cam live that was Marie Katas i think her name is from voices for dignity... Talking to an interviewer with 2 members of the FLDS answering questions from the public..
Was really interesting. Can't remember name of UA-cam channel. It was a couple of months ago.
Enjoying youre channel from the UK 🇬🇧 the channel was called 'Hidden true Crime'.
Worth a look.
We haven't seen that, but we will have to look it up!
@@GrowingUpinPolygamy I think the ladies name is Christine Marie Katas and she now lives in Colarado city helping members of the FLDS with they're property rights.
She's someone may be interesting to interview or contact and she seems to liase between the FLDS and apostates as i believe they're known.
This all fascinates me...
Keep up the good work.
Lucy 🇬🇧
Again, please contact John Dehlin on Mormon stories podcast, he wants an interview with you two!?!
I am sure they know that..these guys have many important relationships still within the lds, and try to share, but keep respect for it.. Joining this forum ;even if they keep their story rooted; may send a more devisive stance
Lol. I was like who’s Samuel. It didn’t click for a second.
(Melissa) I still think that whenever we see his siblings haha =)
It just occurred to me when Sam said they were just human, humans have been known to have affairs even if they are married. Did you ever hear of anyone getting caught having an affair?
Another great video♥️

I keep thinking what the top 5 ways would be to be a good LDS (Mormon) housewife. Just watch an episode or two of She's in Her Apron, and she tells all.
I'm not sure the title of these videos is fair considering how many different ways, religiously and secularly, there are to be poly. But I respect that getting a short title can be hard and that you're talking from your experience.
I completely understand what you mean, and thanks for understanding!
@@GrowingUpinPolygamy I'm sorry I wrote this message. Somehow I managed to confront you for no reason. I must have been in a mood when I did because your content is amazing and anyone watching them understands very quickly what you're saying. It would be fascinating to hear you talk about different types of secular polygamy and polyamory. Take a look and see if that's right for your channel. It's a fascinating topic, especially from your perspective. If you're interested in my resources, just reply to this message and I'll share. But frankly, you're doing great so don't feel any pressure. Keep being awesome! 😎
Please don't tell her I sent you. My grandma dropped the title: Aunt or Uncle. We just used first names. No idea why.
I feel like the no dating is related to women being deemed property of the church...that they belong already from birth to the man they will be given to in marriage...so even talking to girl is like touching some other man's property.
Yes, sadly they are treated just like property.
It is accurate to say you're an ex-polygamous. If you think about; you wouldn't have been born if your father wasn't a polygamist. Being that you previously shared your mother is his second wife.
Sam, did you have AC as a kid in your home?
How about feet? Were they to be covered at all times?
No. Feet were free haha =)
#1 Be mindless and spineless
#2 Be naive
#3 Ignore your gut
#4 Suppress your true feelings
#5 Turn a blind eye
Question: In the FLDS, did females wear a bra? If so, even at night under their nightgown?
they do wear bras, but over holy garments. Garments are to be next to the skin at all times except for when they are bathing. Bra's are not sacred, they are secondary...there would not be any reason to wear a bra under night clothing, garments however are worn under night clothing
Did you have to wear garments and go to the temple like the LDS church members did/do?
That's what I was wondering. I know the at least the polygamist men in Mexico of the LeBaron Church of the FirstBorn did. (A different Mormon offshoot, similar time frame to FLDS)
So the FLDS start wearing garments at age 8, after they are baptized. And the FLDS only had one temple in Texas that most members would never be worthy to go to. It wasn't like the LDS where it is the goal of every member to go there. It was something that only a select few were able to go there.
❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
I'm curious to know if the churches you two are from wanted you guys to give a tithe from your tax refund even if you based your tithe off of your gross income throughout the year.
Have you ever heard of anyone in the flds community experimenting romantically with someone of the same gender? Seems like with so much segregation that might occur 🤷🏼♀️
I'm going to guess gay people hide it or leave
I never heard of anyone, but I think that is because it would have been such a bad situation for them if they had gotten caught. The only people I knew that were homosexual out there had to leave before coming out.
Yeah there was a girl on escaping polygamy that was caught being "romantic" with her female cousin. And she really loved/cared about this cousin. Because of the fallout of being caught and losing all contact with the cousin she ended up leaving.
So if I decide on polygamy, how many husbands can I have?
Thank you so much!
The girls would probably get married off quickly to a “good FLDS man” if she stayed
You forgot, a good polygamous man would have more than 1 wife.
Hahahaha good point!
I wish my wife would let us take in a sister wife. It's my dream
