but that is certainly not the theme of this PT. The theme of PT Fate Reforged is "can I combo off before this aggro deck kills me?" or "can I combo off before my opponent combos off?"
MrGarruk123 No, I had it when the Innistrad block was around. That is what I am saying. I've been using it since Wild Defiance was released. What I really mean to say is that I'm happy it's getting the spotlight it deserves. Wild Defiance, IMO, went largely overlooked in all of the circles of Modern that I am connected to.
Thomas Shanahan I know it isn't new. I never said anything about it being new. Also, in my region, it was overlooked for most infect decks. Read previous posts, please.
In game 2 against Abzan, couldn't Nakamura have flashed in Snappy in response to the tec edge activation and bolted the token before he lost his red source? It leaves thoughtseize with less options and prevents you from having to path your own wall for land. You get board advantage.
As a control player, the card I feared the most from the other side of the table is Liliana of the Veil. Shuhei's decision to let his opponent thoughtseize his hand I think was right and hope he can use restoration angel to start to trade. Voice of Resurgence is also VERY hard to play around. I think if Shuhei knew his opponent's decklist, this might have been a very different game
What I'm saying is, I find some of shuhei' plays questionable. The way Jeskai can win against abzan is to use cryptic to counter draw, restoration angel, get it pathed because you care about lands and get a 2 for 1. I mean, letting his opponent repeatedly thoughtseizes him is a bad play in my opinion, unless he is trying his best to play around a possible liliana (which almost every abzan list runs) Since Shuhei does not know about this and his opponent plays voice of resurgence, it makes this matchup just awful for the Jeskai control player. I'm willing to believe if he knows about the Lilliana, this game would be a bit better(but not by much)
Abzan already trumps control by offering the same idea of two for ones but early in the game due to mana acceleration as well as ways to slow the opponent. Rng also played a big part of this game but i personally believe that control just has a bad matchup against abzan seeing as control uses card advantage to win and abzan plays a decent amount of hand attack with or without Liliana.
Elspeth is a one of in his sideboard. Since he has trouble controlling the game to begin with getting the single copy out of his deck is hard enough. She also has a cmc of 6 which is really slow for a match against abzan.
bc it would have the exact same effect as it just being taken and would prevent the dmg taken from thoughtseize, if he counter bounced Kentaro would just activate stirring wildwoods and attack with it
Amulet is perhaps the hardest deck to play in modern. Get real. Jeskai control is a total joke. Never seen a game where the "control" deck was not substantially behind on resources.
+Borzi That was actually a good judgement call since there was no possible way him to sweep Kentaro's creature without that fourth land. Not to mention that Kentaro could have paid the three mana anyway.
TheGosu Why Mana Leak a Thoughtseize if you know that Tarmagoryf will come down next turn? Remember, you have to diversify your counterspells accordingly.
The theme of Pro Tour Fate Reforged is the aggro decks attacking very aggressively and the control deck desperately trying to stave off lethal
that's just MTG in a nutshell
but that is certainly not the theme of this PT. The theme of PT Fate Reforged is "can I combo off before this aggro deck kills me?" or "can I combo off before my opponent combos off?"
That commentary on all the dragons and khans.....hype em up, only one is even seen in any play!
I'm happy to know my idea wasn't ignored. Wild defiance in infect is stupid good.
Lol Wild Defiance in Infect is extremely unlikely your idea... that card has been around Infect decks for quite some time now, since its release

Alan Bean It was heavily played in my extended group when it released. It's not much of a new thing.
Thomas Shanahan I know it isn't new. I never said anything about it being new. Also, in my region, it was overlooked for most infect decks. Read previous posts, please.
Why didn't Shuhei path the Tarmogoyf when he played Snapcaster Mage?

+The Comedy Bros. He also could have pathed his own wall to Snapcaster Mage + Mana Leak the thoughtseize.
This is a really good game! Not that shit of amulet combo deck.
Amulet bloom best deck ever
Sh - ee - ni - gigins?
That's not how thats said man lol

kentaro isn't playing Liliana though

If I'm not mistaken, shuhei does have 2 copies of eslpeth in his sideboard. That would be huge

Ken yukihio doesn't shuffle his deck upon fetching... :/
Why not counter and kill a token instead of just letting cryptic being discarded?
bc it would have the exact same effect as it just being taken and would prevent the dmg taken from thoughtseize, if he counter bounced Kentaro would just activate stirring wildwoods and attack with it
@@HopefulAgnostic ah ok i see the line there thanks
This commentary... wizards plz
But it's so metal
What do you complain about?
One of these guys is about to get banished to the shadow realm.
Накомуро дундук, зачем надо было баунсить токена в свой ход во второй игре?
voice of resurgence's token
yo kanho there is no voice of resurgence in board ...
Hagons like the lord Alfred hayes of mtg

You do realize people get mana screwed right?
+redeyed akame Shuhei is playing it terrribly. That first thoughtseize just has to be a leak.
+Borzi That was actually a good judgement call since there was no possible way him to sweep Kentaro's creature without that fourth land. Not to mention that Kentaro could have paid the three mana anyway.
No he couldn't... he only had 2 mana up. Should've leaked the thoughtseize.

So funny how Randy states that when McLaren won the last Pro tour there wasn’t much BG around, didn’t he play Pod in the finals? Lol
I think Randy was talking about more traditional BG decks such as Jund and Abzan midrange
Pod is Pod, and BGx is a deck with hand disruption.
This commentary is so Cringy.
+Ethan Jimenez Whats wrong? its awesome
